Cold. Hard. Facts. The Motoz Uber Heavy Duty 4mm Tube is the thickest (but NOT the heaviest) tube you can put into your motorcycle tire. It measures thicker and lighter than the Michelin Ultra Heavy 4mm Inner Tube.

Excellent review and helpful comparisons. Didn't know the chemistry differences between the various tube materials and why/how they apply to tube repair. Subbed and notified.

Great review! I had no idea Motoz maxes tubes. Im trying out their heavy duty option next tire change. I also run slime in my tires cause Im not a fan of changing a tube because of a little pinhole from a Cacti. The slime has saved me so many times on the road and trail that I use it in all my vehicles.

Right on! Yes... the cacti out here are crazy prickly. Slim is a good idea if your TPMS will allow it. Some TPMS system are pretty temperamental.

I used to buy Barum HD tubes made in Czechoslovakia. They were pink natural rubber like a Pink Eraser. Always good for competition in remote lands.

Interesting! I have never heard of or seen pink tubes!

@@manybikes e-bay had some vintage Barum. Kaplan probably had Barum tires in an auction bike. The shoe company moved to Canada.

Thanks Kyle, this is great Preventive Medicine. Going to have to check my spare tubes. Cause like you said, it not fun getting a flat on the Trail.

Yeah, right?! Unless temps are in the 70's, there is shade and plenty of cold beer ;)

@@manybikes You show me a trail with shade and plenty of cold beer and I'll pop my own damn tires just to partake in some trail side activities 😁

Sounds like going with the standard Motoz still gives some benefit over the others. Slightly thicker, more pliable, and easier to patch while still being relatively light weight. I haven't been doing too much off road but do occasionally and just maintain slightly lower than normal street pressures.

Nice review. Do you normally run any sort of sealant in your tubes?

No… I used to use RideOn and I’ve tried Stan’s. Not using any at the moment.

Michelin tubes are made of Butyl rubber which is more resistant to petroleum products than natural rubber. Butyl is also impermeable to air. Check the differences online..
@manybikes
@manybikes Год назад
Yes, they are different. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Having run both butyl and natural rubber... I choose natural rubber. Nearly all of tube failures have been with butyl, not punctures but the tube failing, like splitting at the seam or the valve stem pulling out.

Kyle, Does MotoZ make tubes that will fit the rear tire on a TW200 (180/80 - 14)?
@manybikes
@manybikes 2 года назад
Nope, that is a very specific tire size ;) I know of only two bikes that run it.

Hi, are the 4MM UHD tubes suitable for the road (highway) as well or only for enduro?
@manybikes
@manybikes Год назад
This is out for debate… I have been running UHD on my 950 & 1190 for almost 100k miles combined without an issue. The “argument” is that UHD tubes create more heat that a standard tube. ??? I’ve never had one fail!

@@manybikes Thank you for your feedback. Does a Michelin UHD 4mm 140/80-18 fit on a 150/70-18 wheel?

Thanks Kyle! I’m a little bummed to hear this, however, as I recently called and purchased tires from Chaparral per your recent recommendation (big thanks, btw) and the associate on the phone recommended NOT upgrading my OEM T700 tubes because I will be doing a good amount of street riding. Now my bike’s at the shop getting new tires with the standard tubes, which sounds like a mistake. 😬

You should be okay. I just know that a lot off-road tube failure (other than big huge puncture) could have been prevented if a heavy duty tube was in the tire. Next time Jeff, next time.

Fitting Uber HD tubes are like wrestling an anaconda into a letterbox, I have had valve stems break off ultra HD tubes when on the road, it feels like riding on low pressures till you get home and see the valve stem is missing. Who else has noticed that synthetic tubes just don't take a repair patch?
@manybikes
@manybikes 2 года назад
100% all the way around. They are tough to get into the tire, especially on narrow rims! I have not lost a valve stem unless I was WAY under pressure and spun the tire on the rim. oops! An synthetic rubber tubes are the WORST to try to patch!!! Nothing sticks to them! Horrible.
