No matter what anyone tells you. Take it from me. I had 3 rounds of BEP. It’s bloody hard. So prepare for it to be hard. The worst thing you can do is go into it thinking it’s going to be easy. It knocks you off your feet. It makes you feel terrible. But like a lot of things in life it has to be done. And your will get through it.

I have to add some balance to this, I've had a lot of chemo. I've had 3xBEP ~17 years ago, and had 7 more cycles (5xEP then 2xTIP) a couple of years ago. It's fine. I dealt with it fine. Everybody's different. For anyone reading this - take it as it comes.

Hey Joshua, I’m curious on what your thoughts might be on my current situation. I was diagnosed with testicular cancer back in February. I had surgery in February as well. Through CT scans and blood test we’ve been able to determine that the cancer is gone. Based on the type of testicular cancer that I had there is a 50% chance that the cancer could come back. I have 2 options.... 1. Get 1 round of BEP chemo now which will lower the percent chance that it comes back to under 10% 2. Don’t get chemo and continue to get blood test and CT scans every couple of months. If the chemo does come back then I would need the full 3 rounds of BEP. I’m curious as to what your thoughts are. Thanks! Bill

Thanks, Peter, great seeing you here! Hope you're doing alright. I'd say it's important to take things easy for the duration of the treatment whether it's one cycle or three. Can you please help me with a question? I’m about to start BEP and apparently one of the treatments is via an injection into a muscle. This is apparently painful? And we can have an anaesthetic injection beforehand. But is it really that bad? I suffer with anxiety and this is causing me a lot of panic. I even feel like I want to cancel the whole thing because of this. Thank you.

Hey Jamie, I know that going through this is no fun at all so good on you for finding ways to get through it! I always had fear of needles because my veins are tricky and easy to miss, but I found the oncology nurses to be incredibly awesome- they get so good at doing it all day every day that it’s not painful at all. With my personal fear of injections, I always imagine a special moment from my life that is very visual and full of detail. So when I sit doe before the injection, I bring myself to the time of having a pillow fight with my son, and he’s jumping on the bed, and laughing, and we’re goofing around, it’s so much fun that I kind of get lost in the moment and by then, the needle has done it’s job. When you visualise something like that, it can really distract you away from the reality and it’s over before you know it! Hope it helps, man

Is it normal to have one cycle of chemotherapy even though I had my testicle removed, my CT scan, and my blood were normal?
@simplifycancer3150
@simplifycancer3150 8 месяцев назад
Totally - it's usually carboplatine or one cycle of BEP to increase the chances of killing off any potential leftover cancer cells! If that is the option your specialist suggests, see what feels like the best decision for you - no one knows you the way that you know yourself!!

I had orchiectomy 12 days ago. I’m on stage 2. I have 11 cm nodul cyst. I don’t know will it compeletely disappear after BEP. Rpndl is a tough one. I don’t know what to do. I was on my peak phsically and mentally. I’ll lose my hair will it comeback like old times? Will i able to have kids? I live in Turkey. Sperm banking is crazy expensive out here. I don’t know if i could afford it. My nodule is way too big will it disappear compeletely? If it don’t disappear the rpndl i’ll get highly chance. I heard it’s really hard surgery to do and get over it and it has permanent damage ,like losing erection and ejecualation due to symphatic nerves. Will i lose what makes me man? If i go through this am i going to be happy again with my future wife and kids? Will i be good looking again? Idk maybe death is better option but i don’t want to transfer pain to my grandma she can’t handle it. Please help me out give me some answers.

So sorry you have to go through this!! But there's every hope that 3xBEP can take care of the tumor. But even it doesn't, RPLND can go really well in case of testicular cancer. I never heard of losing erection after it, but it's true that sometimes (only sometimes) ejaculation works differently, even though you still have sex and orgasm, it's the sperm that doesn't come out. Still, it doesn't happen all of the time and you can have the life you want beyond that!! Please don't lose hope, at the moment sounds like all the options are open, and things are looking great for you!! No need to fear, even though it's scary. What's helpful is trying to get these worries out of yourself - whatever works for you. Writing in your journal, talking to friends about it, making music... But get it out of yourself!! And keep talking to people who are/have been through it whenever you can, it's proof that you're not alone. I didn’t need chemo before my RPLND surgery which took place January 25th dude I can honestly say, first 2 days is painful, I actually even got placed on an Epidural which is for women that go into labor🤣 but that helped a lot for the pain. Oh and good news! I still get an erection and have full sensitivity and I’m 22! Yes I’m worried I won’t have kids anymore but we have to have Faith in God🙏🏼 please reply so we can stay in touch
