A religion that says they are the “only true religion “ usually is a cult. JW leaders do not follow the truth in God’s word. Misleading so many! The truths about who Jesus really is. They put Jehovah in place of Jesus name in the New Testament in their Bible. I was raised a JW.. I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was 30 yrs old. That was 40 years ago. I pray more JWs will see these testimonies and start reading a new Bible and throw away the JW Bible or use to show how it is translated incorrectly. Calling Jehovah's Witnesses a "cult" in the common pejorative sense is just a biased ad hominem attack. It is just a simple minded method of prejudicing others so that they will not use their reasoning and look at the real facts. In actuality, Jehovah's Witnesses can PROVE that all their beliefs are from God's Word. And their only leader is Christ Jesus and they do not follow any human. On the other hand, other religions have proven that they have rejected Biblical teachings and they do not imitate Christ. Instead they follow human teachers. So these "mainstream" religions are more accurately described as "cults." The true Church would not be in the majority (Mt.7:13,14), but would be condemned as a "sect" and a "cult" (Ac.24:14; 28:22). A primary sign of a cult is that they want to isolate their members from outside information. Yet, to be a Witness you are REQUIRED TO talk to people of all religions, including ministers and scholars, who will challenge your beliefs and force you to continue to research your own beliefs and support them from the Bible. No Witness can escape being confronted by opposing arguments, anti-Witness accusations etc. Outside of the admonition to avoid hate literature, Jehovah's Witnesses are never asked to avoid talking to those who don't agree with them. However, other religions constantly discourage and outright tell their members not to talk to Jehovah's Witnesses. So who really deserve the "cult" description?!! On the other hand, how do other religions rate on the "mind control" issue? We are constantly faced with people of other religions who cannot explain their own beliefs, and know nothing about arguments against their doctrine. Cults cannot support their belief from the Bible and so the majority of their members always lack the ability to give evidence from the Scriptures. This is a good description of Christendom, but virtually EVERY Witness can give a Scriptural reason for what they believe. Another tool of cults is misrepresentation and avoidance of facts. Even when people of other religions are told to talk to us they are often encouraged to use emotive accusations rather then a discussion of Scriptural themes--such as dismissing others as a "cult." So Jehovah's Witnesses are not the ones using "mind control." And when it comes to "controlling" people both Catholics and Protestants tortured, burnt people. Today their main tactic is to keep their flock ignorant and use social pressures and prejudice. Therefore Jehovah's Witnesses are not a cult! Through extensive study individual Jehovah's Witnesses have come to trust the accuracy of the information the Watchtower presents. Through experience they have proven that all True Christians are associated with Jehovah's Witnesses and this organization is the only one which gives solid evidence of being God's congregation. So, we do not blindly follow any organization but we also recognize those who give evidence of accurate Biblical teaching and are obedient to them (Heb.13:17,24; 1 Thes. 5:12; 1Cor.16:16) When we see how weak, unreasonable, illogical, and downright false these other opposing arguments and beliefs are then we are even more convinced that we have the Truth and are part of the Christ's True "Church" today (Dan.12:3; Mat.13:39-43). David Hume said: "A wise man proportions his belief to the evidence." And this is what we should do when someone calls another religion a "cult" or "false prophets." All we have to do is quickly point out that other religions are willing to go shoot members of their own church in war, allow fornication, disagree on doctrine and even remove the Divine Name from God's Word, etc. All of these things result in God's curse upon anyone who makes common cause with such imitation Christians (Mat.15:7,8; 23:27; 1 Cor.6:9,10; Rm.1:24-32; Rev. 22:18,19). All Jehovah's Witnesses do is to invite others to do the same, critically examine your beliefs in light of the plain and explicit teaching of Scripture and the evidence in the actions of your religion and its members, then choose to follow Christ closely (Rom.10:1-3; Eph.1:17).

True Christians are the elect of God all throughout the world that have been saved by Jesus' shed blood by grace alone through faith alone. Jehovah's Witnesses deny the straightforward teachings of the Bible and preach a gospel that can't lead to salvation, that's why they are excluded from the ranks of Christianity and labeled a cult.

I grew up in the 60’s and the early 70’s with the JW, we were told all other religions were false, the only way to receive God’s mercy, grace and forgiveness was to be a JW, we were told the world would end be in 1975.
Hi Zach and Stephanie! Praise our Lord for your salvation through faith and belief that Jesus is Lord and Savior! I just wanted to give a shout out because even though it seems like your alone in your situation there are more than you realize. The Holy Spirit brought me out the same way John 1:1. I kept thinking there was more, because if he was a God then what kind of God was he? How should he be worshipped and honored? The answers the organization provided did not settle with me. The more I dug into the organization, the more the Holy Spirit revealed the truth in the scriptures, especially about the way, truth and life. Love what you said here about setting God apart, holy, in our heart. I understand your pain and lost. Allow yourself to grieve and keep looking to Jesus. He is the way. The books of Galatians and Romans really helped me as I was leaving as well as the gospels, especially Luke and John. Best wishes and God's blessing on your new life!

I left the organization as well. What hit me as well was John 1:1-3 initially. The use small letter “g” for God to show that Jesus wasn’t really God but had qualities of God. But I got to know that in Greek it’s one word and there’s no small/capital letter. Also they don’t talk about the Holy Spirit as much, they don’t minister the Holy Spirit, they don’t believe that the healing power of God can still work as in the book of Acts. That wrote me off!

The JWs are great to teach people how to talk and converse . They don’t have the Holy Spirit but are trained to interact and encourage people into their religion. We Christians can learn from these people but to take some of their experiences. The JWs, Mormons,Muslims all have a different Jesus ( Michael) , a different gospel ( of works and dependency on the watchtower and awake instead the Bible) and a different spirit ( active force) Christians believe that the Lord Jesus Jesus is God manifest in the flesh John 1:14 Everyone who believes in Son has eternal life. The church I'm in now is non-denominational. I identify as a Particular/Reformed Baptist. I am convinced that this is the true religion by Scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit. The only way to be convinced is through prayer and careful Bible Study. I hope this helps.

For example, do they not believe in Trinity? What do you make of Matthew 13:24-30 & 36-42? Who in history first taught the interpretation of scripture that it was a symbolic only meal? What authority did they have to come up with this interpretation of scripture, saying that they were right and Christianity wrong before them? (Note this sounds VERY MUCH like a Charles Taze Russell act of pride) If the first person to ever teach it was symbolic only meal didn't appear on the Christian scene until the 1500's, is this not a new gospel, akin to Watchtower teaching a new gospel a few hundred years later? If a new gospel, should it not be rejected? Is not one teaching a new gospel to be accursed ? And when one opens their bible to the table of contents, and believes that the New Testament consists of 27 writings, no more, no less, out of 300+ early Christian writings - tacitly deferring to the authority of late 4th century Catholic Bishops to have decided (a list of writings not found in scripture), should one ALSO defer to their UNIVERSAL belief on the subject as well? As priests, all of these men believed that through their words of consecration, the bread and wine transformed into the resurrected Christ, just a Jesus said and taught. THIS IS MY BODY. A means of Christ to give us his grace.

We receive his resurrected body, blood, soul and divinity in remembrance of him, as a means of receiving his Grace. One must understand what that word "remembrance" means. In the Old Testament, the Israelites celebrated the Passover in "remembrance" of the original passover meal. Their doing so brought the original passover present ... NOW! And, Jesus is the Lamb of God. We must celebrate his meal. It wasn't enough in the Old Testament to just sacrifice and unblemished lamb. One had to eat the lamb, or your first born would have died. So too, we must eat the Lamb. As St. Paul says ... we are to keep the feast. The nwt renders verse 19 " this MEANS my body". The Mace Bible says, "this represents my body". Matthew 12:7 does the same. This thinking is borne out in the following verse because he said "This cup". Notice he didn't say, this liquid inside of the cup.

Leaving the Jehovah's Witness cult is really good, just a shame he fell into another heap of dogma. A classic out of the frying pan and into the fire. He was so close to being free from the utter nonsense that is the supernatural. Watchtower taught at the end would come in 1914 1918 1920 1925 1975 Over and over, false prophecy. One needs to reject anyone who is a false prophet. The Church indeed has had a problem with child abuse and worse, covering up the abuses. The Church has made great strides in its decisions on who to accept into the priesthood, removing occasions for when abuse can occur, and reporting of abuse if it ever occurs. Child abuse is horrific, a great evil, especially when committed by those on positions of trust (religious especially). That said, when one only focuses on the few that have committed these crimes, one omits that great number of priests who strive to live lives of holiness in imitation of Jesus Christ, role models for us all. So too, Christ didn't promise a Church without sinners, rather he said the wheat and chaff will grow together until the end of time and only then will he separate them. What he DID promise was to lead his Church to ALL doctrinal truth, that the Church was the bulwark and foundation of truth, the Church would be where the manifold wisdom of God would be known, and that the gates of hell would not prevail against it. So too, he promised to be with us until the end of time - and not leave as WT teaches. Christ's repeated promises protect his Church from teaching what is false as true. Watchtower even without admitting it - defers to the authority of this Church and the repeated promises of Christ when it comes to their very own bible, believing that the New Testament consists of 27 writings exactly out of 300+ early Christian writings, a list decided by the late 4th c Catholic Church. WT teaches .. inconsistently, that they were all apostates, all weeds.
Even a Christian cannot brush aside the worship of Jehovah as God. In Revelation 1:5 the Son of God called himself "Jesus Christ, The Faithful Witness.'" When on earth as a man he was a Jew, an Israelite, to whose nation the words of Isaiah 43:10 was written: "You are my witnesses, ' is the utterance of Jehovah, 'even my servant whom I have chosen.'" Jesus demonstrated that he was a faithful and true witness of Jehovah God. His genuine disciples today must be the same kind of witnesses, Jehovah's.

I cant believe that former Jehovah's witnesses can believe in trinity and to deny Jehovah. Perhaps they never had faith. My only problem is that I lost respect for Governing body but I will never leave Jehovah. Men can make errors,it has nothing to do with God.

Vusi Mngomezulu There is no ONE true organization. Not Baptist, not Catholic, not not any one religion. There is only your personal relationship with Christ. We go to church to be with fellow believers who are working on the path to that relationship with our savior and mediator. We are all in our personal journey with the Christ, not a relationship with an organization. Jesus told us to come to him, not to come to an organization. And the bible warns us not to put our trust in men, to whom no salvation belongs. If any church claims that they are the one true religion, then they are trying to control you. And if they tell you that you can only learn bible truth from them, (imperfect men) please remember that Jesus told the disciples that when he went to his father, he would send his Holy Spirit. . That the Holy Spirit would teach us what we need to know. We don’t need any other book except the bible and Holy Spirit. I can tell by your words that you are a spiritual person who loves Jesus and loves truth. I tell you these things because I would like you to be a slave for Christ, not to make an company run by 8 white men in New York that is getting richer and richer. They just hide it better that the other Televangelist like Benny Hinn and Joyce Meyers. The Watchtower organization is quietly gaining richer and richer. Vusi Mngomezulu you are correct. He was speaking about people. Not an organization. Thats why as Christians, we can show love to one another others regardless of what church you go to. Just as Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman at the well, just as Jesus spoke to the woman caught sinning, just as Jesus called Tax collectors and sinners to follow him. He did not refer to people by derogative names. The ones he called out were the religious leaders who were taking advantage of the common people. That still happens today. Beware of false prophets, my friend.
