That seam allowance disc thing is so neat! I got one in a raffle craft-kit full of junk and thought it was a lid to a missing container. I've been using it to wrap scrap thread!🙀 I learned something today.

I like my little metal bodkin for elastic. I’ve had it for 25 years and it still works fine. The little iron intrigues me, but I’d also burn my house down because I never remember to turn the iron off either!

I got those magnets for a tote but the canvas I used for the tote is thick and the magnets don't hold through the fabric at all. On their own they seem very strong but not sewn in the tote.

I love my mini iron!! But after a year of use it's stopped steaming booooo. I might try and fix it because mine was Prym and therefore imported it's more expensive because they have to do the special British plug. It's identical to the one you have so maybe I can find a cheaper one

I need sewing gadgets! In my old age, I find that I struggle to see things. It doesn't help that my allergies cause one of my eyes to swell. I need a decent lamp above my sewing machine. Do you have a recommend? Also need a seam guide and I would love a darning loom. The rest I'm not sure about. One of my sewing machines uses a cartridge and so it automatically threads. Thanks for testing all this stuff. These videos help me decide if something is worth it or not to purchase.

I have the mini iron and I love it. It's great for tiny seam allowances. I go slower and am more careful with it, especially when it's at the highest setting. It was weird to get used to at first, but now as soon as I'm done I turn the dial to off and put it down out of the way on a little pad so I don't burn my table. I'm terrible at sewing straight lines, so even though the guide is plastic, I would use it all the time. And I'm definitely at the "my eyes are crossing! how long have I spent trying to thread this needle?!?!?" (I do have one of those tiny metal needle threaders with the little wire, but I'm afraid of breaking it) I hope you heal quickly!!

Those needle threaders are great, i used mine till it died. Don’t hold the needle still, just let it sit in there. The little hook will jiggle the needle around until it finds the eye. Sometimes you need to press the lever a few times, but i’m so blind I don’t care. Pressing the lever 20 times is easier than trying to see to thread manually 😝 🦮 🪡

There are some better versions and different gauges of the magnetic buttons out there strength wise that can hold up better. None of my irons have auto-shutoff. I plug them, and an overhead light, into the same power strip with a switch on it - if the light is on, so is the iron. It's just an easy way for me to double check that the iron is off. I just came across your Keep or Yeet for the first time and you're fun to watch.

As a quilter who loves paper foundation quilting, I use a 3" wallpaper wooden roller (Harbor Freight) to press all my quilt seams, no more distorted 1/4" seams due to using an iron/steam iron. I don't have Wonkie seams anymore. I also make micro/mini/Barbie/Dollhouse clothes alot, that lil baby iron is wonderful for sewing wee items, also my 1.5" curling iron (especially for dollhouse size clothing and ironing rayon/glitter trims). @cb9825
@cb9825 2 года назад
I think you can just cut the excess of fabric with regular scissors and do the zigzag stitch as usual. The foot doesn't do anything special to the quality of zigzag. I suggest to try a double needle for hemming clothes, there are different types for jersey and woven fabrics. I use them for sleeves, pant leg hems, etc. Looks a lot better than a plain one needle stitch👍🏽

Love the mini iron, might have to get one. Make sure you use bottled distilled water. The minerals in tap water, especially if you live in a hard water area, can cause build-up that can block the steam nozzles. I was amazed at how many "good" gadgets there were this time ! Last time seemed like MOSTLY "YEETS!" (Which was fun! Lol!)
@Seamstressed

I had another brand of mini iron. It was amazing. I've had irons that turned themselves off for decades. The mini iron didn't do that. I burned it out in a few days. I've had the second one for a few years now. You will only burn it out once!
@TheMinot60
@TheMinot60 Год назад
Some irons specify to not use distilled. I forget why, but I read about them on a quilting forum. You have to check your manual, if it spits like mad could be that distilled is not indicated for use. I love my mini, because it’s so little it hasn’t been hurt by the 49,000 x I’ve knocked it to the floor.

A side cutter foot sews over the edge but doesn't knit over it like a serger so the seam isn't as strong or as neat. The problem I had w it was it was so slow. Machines sew usually at 850 spm and a serger does 1350 or better.

I agree with you on all those items. The circle cutter would be nice for a quilter but it look as if they used a plastic that isn't good quality but that seems to be the theme of most items made. Unless you pay top dollar it's crap and even then to many times. I know the theme for them is to "make it to break it" Money money m o n e y!

ARRRGH. I want that serger-substitute presser/cutter foot. BUT you don't say anywhere what it is actually called or where to get it. Come on - a little less about your prints/animations/patterns etc and at least put the links for the products!

I always forget about the links, especially because I am not trying to sell you peeps anything lol
