Thanks for the video, what is the max amp draw you can pull from the Trucks factory hot and ground post?

Depends on the year, make , manufacturer. This Cascadia is at 25 amps. Most newer trucks will have a tag near the end of the wires.

A 12 volt battery is a 12 volt battery.(13.6v) The amp hours doesn't play into it at all. So whatever your system draws from the battery is what the system is going to use.... makes no difference if it's factory or whatever. I could have a 12-volt 500 amp hour battery and if the radio only draws 20 amp it only is going to draw 20 amps .( only an example, no radio will draw 20 amps, lol)if it only runs on 40 Watts ....it's only going to draw 40 Watts, doesn't matter about the battery I could hook up a 200 watt stereo to my battery and it's going to draw what it needs to run that stereo, I could hook up a 4-watt CB radio and it will draw what it needs to power the actual radio itself . Always remember volts times amps equals Watts

@@caseykelso1 Not necessarily so, on a hot and ground post in a big rig there is thin wire going to the posts and it will be however that circuit is fused as to what the max amperage you will be able to pull for the CB radio and most are 10 to 15 amps and a lot of radios need more, so if you are a company driver most will not allow you to run wire to the battery. So back to my original post for J Rich was what was his hot and ground post in his truck fused for and I was surprised that it was 25 amps at the post,.Thanks for replying.

Hi Jay ! Everytime I click on RU-vid I get a lot of CB radio videos on the homepage. I have some now from you! So, this is a little bit interesting. The first time that I saw a CB radio it looked interesting. My dad had on installed in a car. Well roughly at the same time, when I was going to grade school, when I was knee high to a grasshoper, the teacher took us to the library and we were familiarized with the library and the dewy decimal system of classification. Well , were did I go when I was in the library.... I walked around on my 8 year old legs and saw a book that I read as The CB radio handbook ! I borrowed it and has some time to leaf through it. Very interesting. After leafing through that book for a few days I began to feel that I was learing to be an expert about CB radios and radio in general. Then when I got back to the radio itself, the CB radio unit, I looked at the control knobs. I could see volume, squelch, rf gain, channel selector and other controls such as PA and NB - noise blanker. It looked like there are a lot of things to learn about in the CB radio itself in so far as the features and options not to mention the science of it all. I can say that it's great that there is an on and off button for the unit. I could end up going overboard! 😀 💋🤎

I am very new too all fo this so I am coomenting to ask if you can explain all of this to me. Direct battery power power14.2 volts and the other 12.3 volts, and the trucks wiring. Is it important to know what the voltage of the trucks wiring is to understand the video? I see 18 watts on the trucks wiring and 20 watts on the battery wiring. i apologize if I am not making sense with my comment.😀 I did not get what the trucks wiring voltage is or maybe you did not say what it is. Is it crtical to know to understand all of this?

Smaller wires won't sustain the voltage with the amount of power the radio is using.

How do you like that meter? Accurate?

It's OK, once It's calibrated it pretty accurate, but can get out of wack over time. But I got a decent deal on it so not complaining.

cb radio is 4 to 5 watts. You would need a 3000 watt amplifier to get 20 actual watts out of a radio it goes up exponentially ...how do you get 20 watts?from a standard radio? You do realize that the consumption wattage of the radio is not what your radio was actually broadcasting in wattage, you do know the difference between that correct?
