I have a denim conundrum - all of my jeans are skinny jeans. I look like a sausage in them, so I am now shopping for some affordable denim. A lot of my skinny jeans were expensive, so I am now looking for denim under $100.
Denim under $100
I was shooting for the GAP, but it’s closed. So, I start at J. Crew. It ends up being a huge miss with the jeans having no stretch and being too tight in the butt/quad area. Banana Republic is next up. They are long like all of my jeans, but I like them. The pockets are clean, and the denim is simple and crazy comfortable. American Eagle is the next stop, where I try on medium wash with mild distressing. They carry smaller sizes both in waist and length. The jeans are not super tight in the thigh or ankle, and the rise looks good. My butt looks amazing too! I try on a pair at Express, which I love the stretch, which makes them crazy comfortable. I worry they’re a bit too tight as I am getting away from the skinny jeans. Checking out Macy’s, I select a slim and slim tapered pair (they have a lot of selections). They have a buy one, get one 50% off. Shopping is now finished.

Back at the office, I show you the different pairs. You decide which is the best. Who’s the winner? What do you think is the best denim under $100?
Banana Republic - slim fit, stretchy, fit is pretty perfect. I love the look and fit! $110
American Eagle - a little long, medium wash, not crazy tight, perfect rise, gradual tapered ankle, lots of stretch, comfortable. I’m obsessed! $49
Levis - slim tapered (512s), not as much stretch as other pairs, tailored through the thigh, tapered at the ankle, indigo color. Amazing denim! $60

One of the best tips I've ever come across for making sure the jeans you're looking for have plenty of comfortable stretch is to look at the tag and check that they are made from a cotton/poly blend with 1-2% spandex.

This is a great video Aaron put out! Aaron hit two of my favorite places for jeans, American eagle and Levi's. For me personally I can say that both companies for jeans are great and comfortable.

For me I usually wear Levi’s or AE, I prefer the cleaner look of Levi’s (I wear the 511s in 30/32, for some reason the 32 inseam on Levi’s is usually long enough) but In terms of comfort nothing comes close to AE, being able to order my true size in 29/34 and the stretch just feels amazing! I also love the jeans from abercrombre, their super skinny and 90s slim fits are awesome and they offer inseam lengths for taller dudes.

Believe it or not, Walmart brand George Athletic fit jeans are even cheaper than that. Not too big, consistent length, good stretch, and comfortable. Love the medium wash., as it is a real blue, not dirty blue. Keepers.

I'm a custom tailor and I make custom jeans. Have tried jeans at every price point. I can wear slim or skinny. Distressed or clean. Best cheap jeans are AE, imho. Best overall selection of various fits, sizes, and styles. Many "cheap" jeans are quickly serged with a safety stitch to create the side seam, esp many Levi's. AE's are made with pressed open side seams similar to selvedge jeans which is better quality. If you fit well into J Crew jeans, the 770s or 484s in Japanese denim are also excellent for the $.

You gotta try The PerfectJeans . I’ve held onto my AE jeans for YEARS but recently it’s harder to find really stretchy ones. These retail at $75 but MANNNNNNN. You’ll never go back

I really like the Levi’s 511 slim fit stretch. The are comfortable and fit me nicely. I did it care for the taper, it wasn’t the right look for me.

Levi’s 512 all day every day. I haven’t gotten any other brand since I first tried them. Super comfortable, not too tight not too loose. And another plus, there are affordable.

Have a pair of the BR traveler jeans from about 5 years ago. They’re my favorite jeans, so comfy and can be dressed up or down so they work for any occasion.

I hear ya - Lee! And speaking of jeans... I love the Levi’s 505, it’s very comfortable, and much roomier compared to other Levi’s jeans - such as the Levi’s 501. Especially around the thigh area, which is what I imagine a lot of people might want… I wear 33-34, and I love the fit - they feel spectacular! So if you’re looking for a bit of extra room in the thigh, and the ankle section, they’re perfect! Anyway, that’s my two cents. -Carlos Verde - Dating Tips

Alpha, we need a video of different work jeans for construction. Wrangler cowboy cut, ariat, dickies, etc. And some FR rated. I go thru jeans quick. They all seem thin and heavy enough. AND they need to look good in style and cut. There is a serious like of videos on it.

When I shop for jeans and it’s more about the Materials so when I look at jeans I look at what type of denim they’re made with I try to only buy Japanese stretch denim &Japanese denim is the world best denim to buy. and you can find some out there for affordable prices you just kinda have to look around

I find David Bitton Buffalo to be a great affordable option. Most of their jeans have 1% spandex so there's stretch and they have many fits and distressed levels to choose from.

I just found at Kohls a pair of 505 Levi's 40x30 for $30 bucks, actually cheaper then my go to Lee's that went up to 40 bucks. Sometimes it's good to to look at the clearance rack.

Thanks for the video. I'm older and have no issues going into AE. I own some Henley shirts from there. I like Lee Extreme Motion and Old Navy Slim Fit with stretch. Old Navy doesn't get credit for their under the radar jeans. As a bonus, their pockets have excellent depth for my cell phone. I hate low rise. The rise on both these brands is perfect. I have a pair of Levi's 502 that I won't wear because the rise is low and I feel like my butt will pop out if I bend over. I want to love Levi's so much, but they seem to have a thing for low rise in all their Slim Fit styles, which is frustrating. I recently tried a brand called Revtown. They seem pretty good.

I’d have to say Revtown. They have amazing jeans for the price, around $80. They are direct to a consumer brand. Madewell has great denim as well but they are just north of $100.

I do express all day long. The concern over the tightness is valid however, they actually loosen over time instead of tighten after washing. Yea nice they’re “broken in” you’re solid.

Highly recommend Abercrombie. Ever since their rebrand their products especially their denim is amazing. My wife even started buying a pair. Not to mention if you can find an outlet you can score them even cheaper. Last pair I bought for like $20

Good thing you brought this up Alpha. I did some shopping for myself and found that the "George" George Clothing" that's in Walmart where I live in Iowa. Actually has an amazing fit. Waist wise yeah they may have an extra inch at the bottom of it. But like you said alpha they'll shrink a bit. Making them my size in waist and length.

Alpha speaking the truth about American Eagle. Definitely AWKWARD walking in but the denim is hard to beat. Alpha, don’t be afraid to check out Old Navy’s 360 stretch. I wear the skinny and, as a slim guy to begin with, they actually fit me about the same as these slim jeans are fitting you. Plus they have the stretch and they’re super soft.

American Eagle Slim Straight are my go-to. Another brand that is affordable and comparable to AE is the Denizen by Levi’s available at Target. Levi’s always look and feel a bit “dated” to me, but Denizen hits it out of the park with their fit and color options. I go with Slim Straight from them too.

I just recently purchased jeans from Perfect Jean. The fabric is stretchy and come in slim, athletic fit. They come in various lengths and waist sizes. I purchased the slim and they fit great lots of stretch. The are 80 dollars my Anson belt sets them off.

Thanks for the video, it inspired me to go and try these jeans out for myself. I am someone who lifts as well. Findings in my situation below, in order from best to worst: 1. Banana Republic: The most comfortable of all, and great fit 2. Levi’s: Comfortable, I love the dark navy color I got 3. American Eagle: Too tight in the thigh and crotch areas, but stretchy I ended up keeping 1 and 2, and retuning 3.
