Alpha's Perfect Outfit

Leather Jacket Shopping Safari
Note that Alpha likes soft leather so he doesn't have to break it in. Also if you opt for a classic style leather jacket, you can wear it for years -- and it will look better with age. So, come along with Alpha as he discovers there's not a lot of leather jackets to chose from -- check out what the stores have.
Bloomingdale's
This department store has a good selection of leather jackets. He points out the AllSaints leather jacket with a price point around $450. If you want a more rugged All Saints jacket like a biker jacket, the leather is amazing at $498! John Varvatos is another designer that makes beautiful leather jackets, but the selection is not huge. The leather is super soft. The downside is the price is high around $600 - $800, and even though the jacket is an investment, it's still pricey.
Banana Republic
The suede jacket is sexy, and he loves it. It's like a denim jacket in terms of the styling, and it's light-weight leather jacket. But at $450, he's unsure.
7 for All Mankind
The jacket is $800 with a soft and supple leather. It has a cool aesthetic and a crowd-pleaser. The motorcycle jacket is $1,000 -- it's very heavy and a cool style.
Topman, H&M, Forever 21
These three stores don't have real leather as it's out of their price comfort zone. But they'll have faux leather in the $100 - $300 range. For example, Topman's is $220 which is an option for vegans, but it definitely feels 'not leather'.
EXPRESS
They don't have a great selection: brown suede and a motorcycle, each at $300.
DIESEL
They have a good selection but very expensive. The quality is okay but better options are out there. Alpha points out a leather bomber with a pattern.
Coach
Coach leather jackets look beautiful, but they feel cheap now -- but for $1,200 the leather should feel amazing.
Macy's
He finds a leather jacket by Michael Kors for $199.99 and then also a Guess jacket for $225 that is not leather. For this price point, he recommends finding a jacket that is real leather.

You should give Fox Creek Leather a look. They seem to make some high quality jackets. They're tailored specifically for riding bikes. They're classically styled, but have breathable vents you can unzip, slots for armor and have the awesome '50s style belt buckles. Oh, and they're in the $400 - $500 range, while Schott jackets are no less than $750.

Schott's are nice but there's also a company called Soul Revolver that makes amazing leather and suede jackets for a little bit less money. A company called Denzell also makes really nice, affordable jackets. Of course these aren't exactly local so shipping and returns may take a bit but that doesn't bother me much.

Tom Foolery pricing is relative to other leather jackets on the market, not one’s own personal idea of what a given leather jacket should cost. I don’t mean that in a rude way btw. But if you look at the market you see a good leather jacket that’s made well using quality materials that will last you a lifetime or more start around a grand. For heirloom quality leather, Schott is actually at the bottom end; that’s where you start and it only gets better and more costly from there. Lost Worlds tends to be more expensive, and Aero who are really popular and highly regarded are expensive as shit. Schott really are the best all around leather jacket maker there is imo. As to styling I’m baffled that you don’t think Schott are stylish. They literally invented that double rider silhouette. Irving Schott patented it in 1927 or 1928. There’s a maker in England called Lewis Leathers that make a great jacket as well and the styling is super British but I love it I can’t wait to own one. They don’t have the back gussets like Schott does tho so you wouldn’t be able to ride well in it and it would be restrictive just in general esp if you wear it Ramones style super tight tee shirt only. Check em out and yeah lmk what you think is stylish regarding leather jackets. Thanks bro.

@@gnarctopus When I think budget friendly leather jackets I would think around 300-500 bucks. But you definitely won't get top shelf for that price. Personally I think that if you're going to spend a grand on a jacket you might as well go all out and not think about budget, maybe get one custom made for around 5 grand. As for style, my personal preference is a clean lightweight leather jacket without to much bells and wissels. A jacket that's little leaner on the waist and doesn't have somewhat longer sleeves that you would see on a biker jacket. I'm not too big a fan of the thick biker jacket look in general. But I shouldn't have called all Schott NYC jackets unstylish, that was a little hasty on my part.

I got a used schott 557 I think which was around $750 in the 1970’s, I got it for $300. It’s so high quality and truly a steal. It’s worn in but still looks only 8 years old or so despite being almost 40+ years old. Amazing quality, the schott “Perfecto” is truly the best biker jacket you can buy anywhere. Coach stuff is pretty good I find too, but no one comes close for that price point.

For 100 bucks youll get a decent sheep hide(soft) leather jacket similar to the one he bought. Add another 150 and youll get a quality cow hide leathet jacket.

@@ChrisJBlack972 this is in South Africa, I'm talking about the best grade sheep hide leather jacket. 100 dollars is around 1500 rand here and thats not considered cheap. For around 3000 rand you can get the top grade cow hide jacker. These of course aren't from well known international brands.

I got my first jacket at Wilson’s. It’s a beautiful brown bomber that has aged amazingly and still fits pretty well even though I’ve gotten larger. It was a $400-$500 jacket and I got it in a spring clearance for $200-$250. 👌🏼 A New York company called Schott also makes killer jackets AND amazing peacoats.

I found a really nice goodwill 35$ Wilsons "the leather experts" classic motorcycle jacket like that dude on the walking dead wears. It looks just like that, but its nice and wore in but not beat up at all. Got lucky

Chris leather jackets has to suit someone’s personality not only the body. My friend works in NYC at Harley Davidson and they make some very high quality jackets but again, not my style.. for people who ride bikes it’s the thing to put on but for someone who just walks down the city to bars cafes or clubs a cafe racer jacket is more suited instead of a biker which is full of zippers pockets and other accessories suited for a bike rider, it’s my view only not that I don’t appreciate or have something against them!

@@cristinelgheorghiu5294 no worries! agree to disagree but just FYI - Schott makes cafe racers too. I think you were looking into the Perfecto line which is mainly the biker style jackets. I have a cafe racer by Schott(vintage line) and its been amazing so far.

For that kind of money...go full custom. Take all your measurements, pick your leather, pick your liner, pick your style. A quality leather craftsman can make you anything you want for about the same price. However...if I were gonna go for a badass leather jacket off the rack ~~~> Schott Perfecto 613S, 618.

Agree, my friend recently launched his website and he give all that option with low price, I can't believe how big brand sell with more then 200% or 300% profit margin, so many realities he told me about its manufacturing process, leather is expensive but not so much. the website storejees doc com, thanks me later.

Thanks for educating me on the price? Name brand,I was about to buy a $200 jacket on Amazon and would of made the worst mistake on my money,. I want to spend my money on quality not garbage. Something that last and is durable and gets woman wet just by looking at the Jacket. Seeing I don't know how to talk to woman.
