Caught a small mouth on a crawfish we found just looking under rocks with my buddy after we match the hatch and grab soft plastics of the same color and size and caught a few more ! - We need that trout video NEOW ! my trip for trout of the Riviere du Diable was a failure mostly caught Pike/ common roach and rockbass but zero trout but the scenery was beautiful camped right next to the river. Would yoou guys ever consider doing budget fishing videos at random stores ? alot of channels do it but the perspective from Quebec is totally different. From price range to Lures variety. Me and my friend do it on random occasions just for fun as a channel between us . 10$ budget grab lures and catch something on it in 24h. could be a interesting video between you's and your friends if they wanna join !

Congrats on the pike man!! I know its not the species you were after but theyre still great fish! I wish we were able to use live crayfish it would be a gamechanger! Budget fishing challenge is definitely on the board! Hopefully we get to it before the season ends!! Looking forward to your next fishing outing! Goodluck bud!! 🎣

Buy your cages at a local store that way you can check the holes in them first. Seems like the German catfish are a little lost wonder what we call them around here.

Yeah definitely buying them in person is a great way to make sure the holes on the trap are small on both ends. It makes no sense to have a big side because the fish actually found a way to get out. The best advice if your using this type of trap is to check the trap often. But the ideal would be to use the ones with both sides that are small so you don't have to worry about loosing your catch's

Those traps work excellent! We had a creek, just down the street from the house. I grew up in the 70’s that was chock-full of minnows. We used those same kind of traps to catch them. Unfortunately, here in central New York, you are no longer allowed to do that. Here, we can only use “certified” bait fish. In other words, you have to buy your minnows or shiners from a tackle shop that sells live bait. It’s total horseshit! But what can I say?… That’s communist New York for ya! 😑

To bad they don't allow us to use natural bait. Not only are they free they are the actual food that the fish eat so it would be the best bait. It's ridiculous that we can't use any at all here, not even bought ones. The only exception is in winter we're aloud dead minnows. But not caught one's. At least you guys can use "certified" ones but still sucks because you would be able to catch your own easily and save the money instead of being forced to pay whatever price they put on them. Thanks for watching, we appreciate you taking the time to write a comment!

@@GIOUTDOORS That creek near my house that I told you about had plenty of crayfish too. It wasn’t just minnows. I don’t recall EVER having to pay for live bait when I was a kid. When it came to minnows or shiners… We had an ABUNDANCE. The only live bait we’re allowed catch ourselves now, are nightcrawlers. Now, if you’re fishing with live, shiners, or minnows, and our stopped, and checked by a DEC officer, you have to produce the signed and stamped receipt from the registered bait shop you bought them from. If you don’t have that receipt, you can get a citation and a fine. New York’s logic is that they don’t want a baitfish from one body of water being introduced into another, so as to prevent the spread of disease. Which I think is hogwash, because all our water systems are connected to begin with. Could be just a bogus money grab. But what can ya do?… The powers that be want it that way. I do miss the old days though. But it is what it is. Thanks for sharing the video. 👍

Man the good old times! I remember we've fished on the rondout reservoir in Wawarsing, Ny and we would get checked all the time for our minnows... Like you said nothing we can do about it.. What we can do is make the best of it and go out and have a great time.
