I have a similar booth, all I did to modify was tape up the small gaps on the sides and seal the back hose mount to avoid air leaks. All in all, I am very pleased with the booth as I live in a very small apartment in Japan this is great size for me.
@@fragglerocker8316 It definitely won't bother your neighbors. Besides, it'll almost definitely be quieter than your compressor, so that'd be your main issue.
Very good vid review of the Spray Booth. I appreciate you going over all the details, espcially the aquarium filter instead of the more expensive refill. Cheers and be well.👍
Thank you for another great video! I watched this as soon as it dropped and just ordered mine today. Also got the 9 drawer Ivation dehydrator that you previously featured!
thank you for testing this out , i was wondering on its quality , i am recently getting back into using an airbrush but didn't have a compressor for it ,your video on the harbor freight one was pretty good not the cheap one but the next up one ,so I bought it the brush is good and i can use it with the 2 other airbrushes I have had 1 since 1990 and the newer one that came with the kit and another that was given to me from a friend
I'm getting into airbrushing. Just got the starter kit from Harbor Freight for $84. Now I'm looking at getting a little booth and this one has my attention. It's currently $119 on Amazon. You said "foam at the end of tube". What does this mean? Plan to focus mostly on Acrylic paint for Hot wheels.
That's just my set up for spraying without a window. If your using a window to vent the booth then your a set. This is a great booth. The prices are always fluctuating on Amazon but it's still a great price
Hello, thanks for your nice review. I am just a beginner in airbrushing, i used a karton box for my first time i painted a airplane. Do you recommend such a booth when airbrushing your models?
Seems odd that the fans are so much smaller than the filter itself. I'd think you'd get even better suction with fans that match the size of the filter. 🤔
Depends on what you are spraying. Very strong paint like lacquers or enamels I would but with acrylics you don't really. I can recommend a mask if you want, it's under $20
With the candle test I think incense would work better since it's always smoking it'll be easier to move it around and get a good idea of maximum distance from fans it would work and where the sweet spot of a spray booth is.
Thank you so much for doing these videos. I’m homebound and disabled and I have always wanted to learn to air brush ever since i was a kid and some photo realistic painting done with it. Being on a fixed and limited income I’ve decided to try modeling and learning to air brush and videos (and tips like you share) on your channel are awesomely helpful for noobs like me. Thank you for taking the time to do this. It’s very generous of you to share your tips and knowledge.
I bought my first airbrush yesterday, nothing special, Harbor Freight. I heard someone say it's better to buy a cheap kit than to never try. Theres a Hobby Lobby next door. HL is doing 40% off all models for another couple days. Either the 22 or 26th How's the modeling going?
I’m in the UK, and I put a spray booth together for around £40, which is probably around $45. I simply picked up a used cooker hood from a kitchen refurb locally for £20, then some pieces of plywood to create box sides, then used a cake stand. The vent at the rear of the cooker is four inches, so I used tumble dryer flexible hose to vent through a window. I don’t know how suitable a cooker hood in the US would be, but the type I have here works for me.
Would you mind explaining the mechanics of the bucket you are using with the booth exhaust? I don’t have an easy way of exhausting the air from my booth and that has heavily constrained what I can do in my hobby room. This looks like a potential save to my hobby dreams!
This looks so good! Sadly I think your video made this product unavailable as every one purchased it. Can't buy it at the link you put in the description :(
I love those kits, I'm a rider myself, I have a BMW. It's the time it takes to build one I'm concerned about. It'll probably be a few months. Which kits are they? You can email me triggerfish65@gmail.com
I'm looking at this as a replacement for a shoddily made DIY booth, would this booth be able to handle spray primers? For my 3d printed TT terrain, I need to use an automotive filler primer to hide the layer lines, and I'd like to not be forced to wait for a nice day to prime my terrain. edit: speaking with the expectation to use the extractor to vent the gasses out the window
Not bad and a great price I looked at getting one myself. Unfortunately I am in Canada 😊so it was 240 dollars plus taxes almost 300 😢man don’t tell me we don’t pay for healthcare :-)😮😊😅 i’m going to use my old math at my shop vac with a HEPA filter 😅😂
As someone new to airbrushing, I'm in an apartment and do not have ready access/easy access to be able to vent outdoors. I mainly use only acrylics and enamels would this be a viable starter booth for someone in my situation?
If you can't vent the particle outside, buy some sort of container, fill it with water & point the fan pipe into it with cardboard & duct tape, with some cutting That way the dust collect on the water & you can just open a window to dissuade the thinner smell Please use 3m 6200 mask with 6001 filter during spray painting regardless of a working spraybooth or not
Great video ive been looking for something like this...would this work for regular canned spraypaint ? Just to paint little things ...or would i need a diff filter..?
I have the older version of this spray booth, it has a single fan, I did the LED lighting installation myself, and I got via Amazon, the extractor bell with 4-inch outlet and a flexible dryer hose (9 feet long) also 4 inches in diameter; I've had it for more than two years and it's excellent!!
One big warning with cheap Chinese spray booths: Only use them with water-based paints. A *lot* of these aren't properly grounded and have exposed copper in the wiring. If you're painting with lacquers or other flammable paints you're basically aerosolizing fuel and compressing it with a ton of air in a metal box. One spark from shoddy wiring or static build up because the case isn't grounded....and that's basically how an internal combustion engine works.
Hey! I'm super new to all this. I'll only be using water based acrylics on my airbrush. What's the purpose of the fans? I'd be using this in a garage where I have no option to stick the hose outside. What should I do with the hose? Or can I just construct my own booth with cardboard (no fans)?? Also, if I use the booth with fans, do I still need to wear the respirator? Thank you!!
3€ for filter roll; 5€ (or even for free from old PC/psu) for a 20cm or even 24cm (12 or 24v) fan; 4€ psu 24v for the fans; a box (2€ plastic box or even a cardboard box for free); 3€ for 1m (so maybe 2m for 6€ is the better choice) of tube/exhaust system. Leds are optional but 5€ for chinese strip led +psu. 100€ for that thing? Never in my life! I prefer the DIY version for 15-25€.
Thanks for the review . I was looking at this one last week I didn't know if it was good or not . For me I live in a mini van and space can be a problem . Based on what you showed us I'm going to pick one up in 2 weeks . Thank you for doing a great video .
It is a joke to ship from USA to Uk I needed a o ring for my motorcycle th o ring was 1” across so not big.a they wanted $19 odd to send said it’s a stamp.I found using a comparison site for postage was cheaper. Cost me 60 English pounds to send something weighed 6 1/2 kg with ups but if went direct to them Was £130.it’s a joke what charge have a look at site that get you the best price.there paint that really want from there but won’t ship to Uk.after the true fire paint think it’s from tcp global and only $238 for every colour they do.
120 silver? Ok intervention time.. haha my wife keeps telling me the same thing. U got another blue? Yep! How many shades of blue do you need.. blue is blue.. hahah
Any booth’s you’d recommend if you didn’t have a window to vent? Looking to get something setup for my model trains in my basement. But unfortunately do not have a window for exhaust.
I just got into the hobby and got one of these, it works but boy it’s loud! I just listen to videos with my noise cancelling headphones on. My issue was that although it comes with fans one in front of the other, only ones facing you in the booth turn, it’s odd. The other issue was that I did not find out till later that the hose connection had a gap in it so spray dust was leaking out there, nothing that some Vaseline didn’t fix though!
Good video, I like that the light can be turned on independently of the fan. I figured $100 USD would be about $136 CAD, which seems fair.....then checked Amazon Canada and it was $225 + $24 shipping.....
Honestly I thought this was pretty decent till he took off the filter and saw that there is only two computer fans doing all the work here...imo someone could make this themselves for way cheaper, which is what I will probably do, I have about 4 spare pc fans, just got to build the shell. Ive seen people make them out of spare cardboard if youre looking to go really budget.
I actually have this version but I think it was the older one without the light. And it was actually cheaper than this. Been a great little spraybooth. Super easy to maintain. Fan is still great in it. And thumbs up for the Carbon filter replacements, that is what I use in bulk as well.
Made my own out of cardboard and inline bilge fan (wont ignite fumes), filters, dryer hose and Leds. Put the fan in the window, actually outside on grass. Bilge fan is great, its far away from booth(quiet) and moves ALOT of air. $25.00
Nice review! Seems to be a perfect small booth for spraying acrylics. I'm thinking with a few mods it would work well for solvents too. Always appreciate the time and effort you put in for these reviews.
As far as the filter material aquarium filter floss is cheaper then airbrush filters but you can go to the fabric section and buy quilt batting with is the same exact material for a 10th of the price of the aquarium branded material
Why did you say recommend this absolutely vent out the window instead of into the bucket? I planned on using this indoor with no window so really wanna do the bucket trick
Another great video, I have based on your advice a air booth, duse the job, even got base coating perfectly, all from watching how you air bush, love models, cars, planes, trains & warhammer 40k, I have the hard job of painting but worthwhile and I enjoy making and painting so relaxing, looking for a good chrome like green, and I'm starting painting again after 7years of not doing so, like riding a bike, got help from your videos, I have really enjoyed watching your videos on the different parts of air bushing. Using a cheap air bush while I'm still getting used to air bushing, the booth is similar to my single fan, making a fumes Box as live in a studio flat, I'm also in to 3D printing both resing & filament, have both to make models to paint, I love metallic green, but I'm looking at some you have shown in other videos, which works out the green metallic colour I good and works well with my necrons, amazing 👏🏼 videos you make
I was on the fence with this, but now that I've seen it in action, I might pick this up for myself. And since it's portable, it'll be ideal for my limited space.
Another fine review. I have a booth that I built years ago, had to replace my fan awhile back. This booth is cheaper than the fan I bought. I may order one as a backup if my fan goes out again. Toss the whole booth and switch to this. Might as well get it now, it ain't going to get cheaper.
Is the CSI creos, Mr procon. WA . Platinum .03 airbrush good? For smaller detail parts? I thought the pro conboy trigger type I absolutely love. I wanted a smaller airbrush tudo detail work like motor, shocks, smaller stuff?
CREOS Mr Hobby air brushes are great and reasonable alternatives to Iwata. I use 2 for past 2 years. Latest price for the PS289 (0.3 tip) was $84 on Amazon.
Might be overkill, but using a smoke ball would be a good way to see the air flow! As the vent is going, blowing air at the smoke could be a great demo
