The way of using miswak is to put it in water for about 6 hours or so then you have to peel a cm from its end to get the fibers (like a tooth brush) Also we don't use any paste with it Just when it gets dirty trim the part you used and peel another cm And if it gets dry just put it in some water and leave it for 6 hours and it will be as good as new

I’m Somali and we still use this in some parts of Somalia, the very rural parts with barely any western influence. It works well, and the natural lifestyle there makes you appreciate it even more. I love going there and just being so disconnected, to the point that I don’t even have an ounce of plastic on me, not even a tooth brush. Having to resort to nature in that way is very humbling, and makes me appreciate all the people who have made life easier for me through their inventions, whether western or not. I love that you guys tried this! Would love to see you explore more cultures :)
the way rhett discovered how to use the Miswak is the actual right way, ...you nipple until it forms a brush and then use it as so, actually it's still used to this day (without paste) in the gulf area (middle east)

That oldest toothbrush, the miswak, has always existed in Iraq as well. This is what many still use today. My parents always bring it this back from Iraq.
My mother still makes me brush with a miswaak with rock salt and charcol every month...says it better that brushing your teeth with toothpaste and toothbrush
cool to see you use a Miswak! Rhett figured out how to use immediately, that's impressive. You can use it by itself, no toothpaste needed. it said to have natural antibiotics. I personally would use it AFTER brushing my teeth with tooth paste. you can see people using it walking or setting around to clean & refresh their breath.

for people who don't know Miswak is like a special kind of plant's branch you soak it in water and then chew it till it becomes like a fibrous brush and then brush with it. It is still used in parts of South Asia like Pakistan, India Bangladesh etc.
