Today I am testing out some DIY Homemade Natural Cleaners that you can make at home against chemical cleaning products. Some natural products worked really well and one didn't work at all :-( I hope you enjoy this video. Thank you so much as always for watching x
Most of the products used in the recipes were from my local supermarket and Holland and Barrett.

Thanks for a great video. For cleaning glass you need nothing but 2 microfiber rags, a wet one which you use first and then wipe the window (or any other glass surface) with a dry one. Thats all. Something about the way the microfiber cloths are made cleans everything, just like the magic eraser on the wall. As always, I love you videos. Take care.

You can get natural soap and it's been used for thousands of years and is super effective, biodegradable, and harmless so soap should be used at least the natural soap as it is the same as the chemicals loaded stuff.

Vinegar plus baking soda is more or less fizzy salt* water. *It's actually carbon dioxide-which is the volcano bit-and sodium acetate, which is apparently sometimes used to make salt and vinegar chips.

My favorite room spray is easy. I take 2 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol, then you sent it as heavy or light as you want it. Little tip on this one... Give the bottle a little shake before use to make sure the oils are mixed in. I use 91% rubbing alcohol because that it is also a nice disinfectant 😊 but the alcohol helps the water to evaporated quickly leaving the good smell behind. I will spray on my comforter, drapes and throw pillows and blankets. My favorite fragrance oil is blueberry cobbler 😊

Great video Emily! I have started using vinegar a few months ago and I am sooo happy with the results! My recipe is very simple: just equal parts of white vinegar and water. I have also found a recipe for a cleaning paste you can store. It consists of baking soda with a little bit of dishsoap and some drops of essential oil, mixed together until they become a thick paste. You can scrub the bathroom with it, although I don't think that it disinfects.

Great video, thank you for doing it! One thing I cannot quite understand with most “natural” recipes I find...doesn’t vinegar just cancel out the baking soda and turn it into basically salty water?... I don’t understand the concept at all since they would cancel each other out. Is it the actual foaming reaction that cleans while it’s happening or is everyone seriously just cleaning with salt and water?

So nice to see you try out DIY cleaners that are better for health and the environment! :) For washing clothes you can try natriumpercarbonat instead of borax. However it'll work from 50degrees up and you'll need a product with activator (TAED) for lower temperatures. I use it to soak whites with for a bit before throwing them in with the light wash. I make my own washing liquid with chestnuts. It's free and works great.

Really liked this video! I use water and vinegar for all my hard surfaces. Even just plain water and a good cloth leaves streak free windows, Windex somehow convinced us we needed a special product for that. I also love vodka and water as a fabric deodorizer; it works amazing and the vodka smell disappears when it dries. A really great bathroom tile cleaner is dish soap, vinegar, and water in a spray bottle; it works amazing. The smell can be overpowering though so I would only use this in a well ventilated bathroom. I agree with another commenter on here that dish soap and hydrogen peroxide is a great stain remover, especially for food and or oil stains.

From the regular white/dark/colour washing, I also do a separate wash with all towels (bathroom & kitchen), spray mop heads and my 2 year olds knickers and just wash with white vinegar and soda crystals and they always come up well. I wash the towels/mop heads like this so fabric conditioner doesn’t build up which makes it less absorbent and crispy. The mop head obviously gets very dirty/stained and they always come out clean, i do my child’s knickers because she was either intolerant to the detergent or conditioner and this has eliminated all issues. BUT for my whites, I use vanish too and they definitely come out a lot whiter

Then I put in washing machine with my diy detergent and it comes beautifully white. I have a little one who loves messy play so you can imagine all sorts of stains but never had a problem. Soda and peroxide (1:1) make wonderful stain remover. It works on both whites and brights. No discoloration. Works best if you leave it for a day or two. Btw I absolutely love your hack with putting stains in the sun, it definitely works if stain is carotene based

Keep a shaker jar of some sort ( like reuse an old bottle or paramason cheese) and mix the baking soda and essential oil in. If you are cleaning your mirrors with the vinegar already all you have to do is sprinkle the baking soda mix into the toilet and then squirt the toilet with that window mix. Works great on sinks too. I also love vinagar in the washer as a softener and keeps my washer clean at the same time. 😉

How long does that Surface Cleaner recipe last in the bottle once mixed? Seems like with the ingredients it would go bad after a certain period of time, even in the refrigerator.

I've read that vinegar and baking soda cancelled each other out when they were mixed . I was just wondering if there were other options for these cleaning products.

Do make at home cleaners go bad after a certain amount of time or will they last quite a while? Just wondering if that lemon peel would like disintegrate or something after a week...

Don't know if you can get in the UK, but I use Molly's Suds for my laundry detergent. I have been loving it! On my 3rd bag of it.

I've been using natural products for a very long time.i love them and the smell of vinegar really does dissapear. So I wouldn't mix up the bak.soda and vinegar for the toilet first.id actually just sprinkle the bak.soda into the toilet bowl and then spray vinegar over the top so you have the reaction actually in the bowl(you can also make fizzy toilet bombs with citric acid that you plop into the bowl). The other cleaner I'd have for you to try is a soft scrub because I know you like to use cif for your sink etc.so do I and it's pretty much equal parts of baking soda+vinegar+washing up liquid(you could use a bit less of washing up liquid as it foams up really well)stir together to make a paste and keep it in a tub and it lasts for ages but the best part is that it actually works wonders.i use it for all my sinks, bath tub, shower, tiles and toilet aswell.please try it,you won't believe how great it is.

For surface/ all purpose spray I use 2 cups of boiled water with 1 tsp borax, 1/2 tsp washing soda, 1 tsp Dr Bronners liquid castile soap (peppermint) and 10 drops of peppermint essential oil because I love the sweet, fresh scent. You can use plain castile soap and the essential oil of your choice. Lemon, lavender, Eucalyptus & Sweet Orange work well. x
