I was able to make eyeshadow applicators work. Just follow Cristine's advice and put both colors on the applicator. I ended up not putting down a base color first due to the lack of surface area and tilted the applicator to fill in the corners of my nail. It worked shockingly well for my dollar store budget.
I thought it was a great hack! I don't have liquid latex anywhere, I don't even have masking fluid even tho I paint a lot. I'm not even sure if they sell liquid latex for nails anywhere where I live. In the past I've used tape, and it's exhausting to tape the fingers and take it off 😮💨 I think it's ingenious to use smaller sponge for the gradient, especially if you're just doing the tip. I very much disagree with Cristine here. Average consumer most likely don't have liquid latex, so saying "that's why we invented liquid latex" doesn't help. And no it's not hard for average person to do the gradient that way, it depends on person. I would guess most people can make it work. And no, the colors aren't ugly, and person on the video did it better because the goal was to do gradient French tips. Cristine just did a gradient. So... I like Cristine, I don't mean to critize her. She does usually keep in my mind what the average viewer thinks, and sometimes she just does stuff in her perspective. She just switches between these two modes so fast it sometimes little bit jarring 😄
Cristine is a mood. The "should we tell them." part killed me. The hack videos either make me feel really freaking dumb, or like a genius because I know they don't work...

The steaming nails to get a matte finish actually works. You have to steam your nails while the top coat is still wet. And the matte finish lasts longer this way.

I've even accidentally bought ones that were pointy on one side, and flat on the other side like the disposable eyeshadow sticks. I use q-tips in my ears even though I know it's bad for you, but that little bit of water in my ear after a shower drives me nuts! And my doctor has seen my ears and said they're good.

To be honest, I have recently started letting my nails grow out. By painting them I am less likely to bite them. The first way I painted them was based in light pink and used tape to paint the other half of each nail with black. I am lucky that I am an artist and knew that the sticky tape would peel up my previous painted nail. So I took the tape and made it "un-sticky" by placing it on my hand over and over till it was only slightly tacky. I am not a nail person by any means but I knew it was an ok alternative. I suppose I could have used washi tape instead hmmm.
the reason you can use a touch screen with tin foil hands is because in order to work, there has to be an electrical current running from the screen to your hand. the foil is a conductor, so the current cat travel through it to your hands. BOOM. the more ya know. sorry if i bored people with my dumb random trivia but idc cause this is a kinda cool fact

When I started doing nail art I didn’t really know about nail vynals but discovered very quickly that PAINTER’S tape will do the job quite nicely, so there’s a helpful trick
