So I'll start by saying that I've done hair for over 20 years and I'm a complete nerd that needs to know the details of everything that I use. Proteins are very difficult to use, especially on hair that has been processed, or is dry or brittle. Your hair is fine and you should definitely be very choosy with your products because fine hair is more delicate. I have a few recommendations to help with the damage and to protect from further damage. The Olaplex line is incredible for damaged and brittle hair. I love the no 8 mask and the no 9 nourishing hair serum. They're not heavy and won't weigh down your hair. Since I also have fine hair and it was always something that I was known for helping, I recommend the Thickening line from Bumble & Bumble. There is an entire line of Thickening products to choose from, depending on your style. The only thing I don't like much from the line is the mousse. It works really well but can be too much hold for my taste. I use the shampoo and conditioner regularly but the thickening spray and the dry spun spray are 2 of my holy grail products. Spray the thickening spray all over, blow-dry in the opposite direction of hair growth and you'll feel like you just moved to Texas 🙂

Fun fact!!!! You can use the aloe in your hair as a hair mask for moisture, if you have low porosity hair I would recommend letting your hair air dry and stay away from heat tools because the top layer of your hair shaft is closed majority of the time to try to keep in moisture. Try clarifying your hair once a week with a clarifying shampoo and a very moisturizing conditioner and always add a lightweight leave-in since you have straight hair and add a tiny bit of almond oil or grapeseed oil they will be the best for your hair type and texture.

Hey Rachel, so I have a similar hair type to yours and also can't use products like that but one "hack" if you wanna call it that, that I use to thicken or add volume to my hair is 'Not Your Mothers' Plump of joy dry shampoo. I know it sounds odd but trust it works and hasn't hurt my hair like most products do. Hope this helps, luv ur vids n keep your head up 😀

Yea the ice isn't good for the face and it only temporarily shrinks pores. It can help with acne if used correctly ,never should apply ice straight to the face it can cause irritation. The ice should be wrapped in a cotton cloth and used no more than once a day and no longer than a few minutes. A ice roller works the best.

I was gonna warn you about icing your face, but I see others beat me to it, lol. If you want the glow that comes from icing, a cold spoon does the same thing with much less risk of damage. Or even some other "icing" products that don't use actual ice will work. But ice damages the skin pretty much from the moment of contact, so it's best to steer clear of putting actual ice on your face.

Be careful about the ice because it can harm the skin barrier, esp. dry skin according to Dr. V. I think using the aloe and cucumber is ok, but you don’t want anything that is too harsh (physically or chemically) and you don’t want to stay in the same place for too long.

Rachel, I have the same hair cut as you. Here is what I do for volume at the roots because my hair also just fluffs at the ends when I try to get volume. Get yourself a round brush (1.5 inches) and some texture spray or really light hold mousse. Work in into your damp roots. Then section your hair so you run it parallel to your part. Flip left section over the right section. Dry your hair half way in that direction. Do the same for the the right side. Take sections and put your round brush between your head and the hair lying the hair on top of the brush. Dry until completely dry. Then dry the rest of your hair. You can take one section on the back of your head and do the same thing. Then I flay iron the ends and it gives volume and polish. Hope this helps your hair troubles!

Missing Person reminds me of something from my childhood. I was born in the late 70s so I’m an 80s kid, and it reminds me of something from my childhood. I can’t put my finger on what it is. Hi, esthetician here! The ice thing will not do anything for your pores long term unless you put things like aha/bha's in it. It "shrinks" your pores as it cools your skin because your skin is reacting to the cold but after it comes back to temperature your pores will look the same. Our pores can never shrink they will always be the same size or get larger under trauma. The cucumber & aloe combo is a good one for hydration and soothing. 👍🏼

Rachel!!! Find someone that does lash lifts and extentions and get pictures of their work for references. Find someone you like, very important. If you don't want to jump straight into extensions, get youself a LASH LIFT. If you cant decide which size you want, let the lash tech decide. It's very subtle and a great way to elevate your lashes and always have them curled. Just remember when doing anything with your lashes, to give them breaks from time to time.

Hydrogenated castor oil would absorb as a protein and the bamboo extract is an amino acid- which is basically a building block of protein (think of amino acid as one link and protein being the whole chain-link.) That being said, you have fine, color treated hair. I doubt it’s low porosity. BUT, all hair has a protein-moisturize balance that needs to be in check and you are probably in a moisture deficit right now. Use a clarifying shampoo to get any of the previous products out and use the moisture mask you were talking about. But if you try to switch to all protein free products you’ll probably find that your hair is feeling over soft (think cotton candy) and kind of gummy feeling when wet pretty quickly because I can say with a reasonable amount of confidence that your hair does want SOME protein

I regret buying the Basma foundation. I had such high hopes for it. It doesn't blend out well, and for a product that was supposed to be hydrating, it caught up in the drier areas of my skin and I couldn't get it to cover much. I might have gotten a shade that was a bit too light, but I'm not about to shell out another big pile of money for an underwhelming foundation. And there's hardly any product in there anyway! I am intrigued by that clear gel blush. It looks fun.

Use apple cider vinegar rinse. You may have used other products that had protein so your hair was in protein over load. So you could also have high porosity which would be likely cause you color your hair on a regular basis but if you use too many products with protein your hair get overloaded and snaps off. Lots of curly hair girls make videos about protein and moisture balance.

I know you talk about having dry skin so I want to tell you my experience with a lash lift. I got one in Febuary for the first time. After my eyelids were incredably dry, 2 weeks later were super itchy and I thought I had developed dermatitis. started using products to help with that they continued to get worse and very painful and now over 3 months later a lot of back and forward with my doctor they are starting rto get better. I always had slightly dry lids and I think the lash lift pushed that dryness over the edge and caused many eye problems

I use the water resistant one because my eyes water and this formula helps me look like I still have decent lashes. I’ve also taken to sleeping with a mask that doesn’t touch my lashes to prevent them breaking or falling out from rubbing on my pillow (side sleeper). That ice thing looks cool. I’d use it just to rub ice on my pulse points when it’s hot in addition to making a “facial” version.

tip on foundation: find your shade in a foundation then look what is says like fair with cool undertones. when looking at new foundations find one that says fair with cool undertones (if that's what your shade is). works for me I have bought 3 foundations 2 are perfect match using this and one I just bought still need to try.

Apparently you aren't supposed to apply perfume while wearing clothes. It gets into the fibers and stays there. That's fine if you use the same scent every day. If you like to switch it up, the fragrance on your skin can clash with the trapped fragrance in your clothes, causing unpleasantness. We'll, that's my PSA for today done. 😘

Lol that's why my clothes smell like my perfume even when it's been in the closet for months

That’s why you wash your clothes?

@@48mavemiss2 unfortunately washing your clothes only removes stains and dirt. It doesn't actually clean or disinfectant like you'd assume. It works for our skin because it's waterproof, our clothes are not so things can't just be washed off. I use laundry sanitizer, but if you don't wanna put out the money for that, just use the hottest setting on your water. Might not get hot enough though, all washers are different. Your dryer is actually what's responsible for killing a lot of germs. Not to mention if you don't regularly clean your washer, it's full of germs, mold, and mildew.

@@TheNinjaNiky unless you use disinfectant detergent. We’ve been using I think it’s All disinfectant and it’s really good about getting smells out !

WOW volumizer did the exact same thing to my thin fine hair. Breakage and brittleness. It’s a no for me as well. The search for volume continues! On another note I love the Basma foundation on my 53 year old dry dehydrated skin. It’s expensive but I didn’t need much and it looks and wears incredible on me. I only have to use four swipes and use my fingers to blend

Rach, I hope you see this comment. I have fine hair too, protein can be used but not all the time. I recommend trying Redken’s Extreme Bleach recovery lamellar water. Your hair doesn’t not have to be bleached to use it. It can be used on all hair that’s colored. It will help with the damage and make your hair oh so soft. 😊

Aside from reducing swelling after getting punched or crying, I don’t think there are any lasting effects of ice for the face. Also, I think the aloe ingredients would be better as a serum for a burn or for moisture than they are frozen in ice. Also, I think the blush is just red number 25? They also use it in those “color changing” lipsticks. Back in the day, they called it Tangee.

You should try that tool Raw Beauty Kristi just tried for volume!

Rachel you should try Aveda Phomollient (not new - an OG) for some volume. My hair gets that dry feeling from most volume adding products too(I do indeed have low porosity hair from being blonde for 20 years)

I don’t know if this was a dupe you were looking for but I have one that I looked for. Dose of colors liquid matte stone (which they don’t always make) a good dupe for it is wet and wild liquid catsuit in rebel rose.

I love more dry mascara, I found a banger from farmacy (they donated makeup to my moms woman’s home) & one of the girls threw it on my desk saying she hated it it was to dry & told me to try it so I did & 🔥 💣 it was a hit 🤪💁🏼‍♀️

I feel like that ice device would be awesome during the summer on those humid or no-AC nights. I don’t know if I would use it on sunburned skin? I keep the aloe lotion in the fridge for those days. The ice on a skin that’s already sunburned could be harmful.

I bought that same hair product and returned it for the same reason. I got you though. Put some volumizing moose in your hair, I have been recently using the Kristin Ess from Ulta, I first bend my head over and blow dry it just real quick and then at the top of my hair from right ear to left ear I will make four different parts then I blow dry the first part, I will dry it and then hit it with a cold shot and do that to every section and I have so much more fullness on the top of my hair. I’ve actually had family members asking me what I’m doing. It just works! I guess like if you part you’re hair on the side of your head and then flip it to the other side how full that gets, it’s the same thing, but I’m purposely doing it.
