It's so nice to see that everyone in the tech community is putting these videos up after LinusTechTips did an in-depth how to and is currently setting up a server to help out. We might trash talk n troll as a community but when we need to we always come together in a way that makes a huge difference.
When I see such a beast PC I always think about stop folding on my 4 year old gaming notebook - but NO, of course also the small ones add up to big numbers... so let’s keep going!
3rd gen Threadrippers are pretty shit in comparison to Ryzen 9 for gaming. Even a 9900K demolishes a 3990X in that regard. Not top of the line but probably top cores or something. TRs also have the latency much more apparent with all those cores. The X299 CPUs are better all around
Unfortunately RX 5700 XT doesn't work properly at the moment :( Using CPU rather than GPU for folding@home is far less effective and considerably less power efficient to the point of not being worth doing when you consider the financial and environmental cost of the electricity usage. Even more so on an overclocked CPU!
There are some "work units" being sent out by the Folding@Home project that only work on CPUs. They are part of the Covid-19 research so I'd consider that worth turning the CPU back on for at least in the short term.
@@peterwood2633 so long as they are on the compatible list. Each cpu and gpu gets its own slot. I'm setting up a machine with a 680, 560 ti and 2 460. All get their own slot. Remember to leave one cpu thread free per gpu
Installed my folding@home a couple of days ago but I seem to have issue on the web browser, however the app seems to be running background programmes on my gpu. Does this mean it is actually operating cause I really want it to work
The folding@home servers are overwhelmed at the moment with so many more people volunteering their computers. Just keep it running, every little helps.
Hello Dan, i do have an OrionX2 but currently on my side reseviors as well as the tubes are getting old therefore i would like to check if is able for us to purchase the manifolds for OrionX2 to replace my current ones which is about 1 year old already.
hi guys, any idea on how to fix a recurring error 43 on a gtx 1070 founders? I've tried it in different rigs, tried old and new drivers only thing I haven't tried is flashing it. do you think that would help? or is the card just dying? need it to continue working from home as I use it for graphics-based work & gaming of course
Is why I was looking through the comments. Ridiculous amount of money to spend on a PC, especially when you consider the stupefying depreciation of hardware.
