Thank you for helping your patients and going above and beyond! You are what other DPMs should aspire to. Your care and kindness is unmatched. Thank you from Omaha Nebraska, we need you here!
Thank you Dr. Jefferson for promoting the right attitude to have on these matters; appreciate it, because it is a breath of fresh air. In my country, Belgium, the biggest university hospital (Louvain) has had the derms there positively riot because they get so many people in all of a sudden wanting a full body exam, as if it is something negative. An entire lecture on most people not needing full body exams! Come on! The news dedicated an entire segment on it. Apparently they are now having nurses give patients a first "exam", taking pictures of (what they think) is something of concern, only they are not MDs! So how do they know when something is problematic, there is lack of sufficient training. Then the doctor comes in and quickly looks at the pictures taken, but does not examine the patient, AT ALL. Do you think they got reprimanded by our government, because after all we have general health care? Nope. It's positively disgraceful to think that if a patient wants to be thorough and their own advocate that they should get faulted for it; but then again Louvain these days is not Louvain of decades ago when I was in my teens. The derms at my local clinic (Antwerp Province) are most certainly not like that, so it's regional. The days over here that a uni hospital was the best place to be at, are long gone!
