Found your channel by Googling "10 Best Fishing Channels on RU-vid". Now, yours was not included on that list but in the comments section of the article a bunch of people protested in support of you. That was enough to convince me. They were right, you should've been on that list. I'm subscribed to about 10 different fishing channels and so far yours is the most informative. Keep going kid, and don't ever change.

Interesting that you see a drop in viewership for the underwater testing vs your other videos. They are incredibly informative and even slight adjustments to your technique can have a dramatic influence on the presentation. Whether a casual fisherman or tournament angler everyone wants to catch more fish. Sheesh. I hope you continue to do them.

Please don’t stop doing these videos my man. It’s helpful knowing how the baits look under water while I’m working them. I fish a lot of murky water, so it’s impossible to see exactly what my bait is doing down there and I don’t have the time to do these types of experiments. I appreciate the time and effort you take to do them for me. Keep it up brother

Love your scientific approach, eliminating variables and analyzing what you do. Also you are very reflective on something that most fishermen are guilty of. Overworking baits is a habit it try to fix on virtually all finesse approaches...t rig, Senkos, jigs, and shaky heads. 2 other tips to fix this: put rod tip underwater and watch how far you move the tip. Other tip: go to a shorter rod at times. Moves less line. Thanks, bud!

Great content! With pitching to a target a vertical drop is important. Can you do a video on how the bait pendulums back when a pitch is made and the reel is engaged once the baits hits the water? Perhaps also show techniques to endure a vertical drop. Thanks.

Excellent idea for a video. I hate I just found it. Here's something to think about when dragging your jigs or any bait really. It's better to think about the angle you are changing the tip instead of how far you're moving it, like a foot, two foot, etc. Try to look at it as how many degrees of angle am I moving it. Look at a protractor and try to visualize moving your rod tip, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 degrees. This will take you from straight in front to straight out to the side. The formula for an arc of a circle, which is what the tip of the rod is mapping as it's dragged, is s = 2 π r (θ/360°) Where s is the length the lure moves(rod tip), r is the rod length, and θ is the angle you move the rod tip. Here's a quick chart for everyone for a 7 foot rod. I'll use 15 degrees as an example, then list the rest in a little chart. s=2 * 3.14 * 7 * 15/360 = 1.83 feet So, just a 15 degree movement in the tip of the rod produces 1.83 feet of movement on the lure at the other end. 15 = 1.83 ft 30 = 3.66 ft 45 = 5.49 ft 60 = 7.32 ft 75 = 9.16 ft 90 = 10.99 ft The lighter the lure, the closer this will be, a heavier jig will deflect the tip, sometimes a significant amount, so the distance won't be quite as great, but this will give everyone a pretty good idea of how far a lure will travel based on the degrees the tip moves.

Fantastic video! I love your underwater demos. I have learned something from every one I have seen. Another consideration from seeing this one: I know folks, mostly weekend anglers, who love to “drift” promising spots(often to save trolling batteries) and drag baits, including jigs, using small twitches and pumps to give action to the bait. This video supports my belief that they are probably missing key structure features by inadvertently lifting the bait over the bottom. If using this technique, this video makes it clear that a very heavy bait should be used. Thanks again for doing such a great job on these. Simple and clear sets your videos apart.

Another thing to note, the longer the rod, the further you pull your bait. If you drag football jigs with a 7'6" you can force yourself to not overwork the bait by dropping down to a 7'3". I have a pool and have tested this, it helps.

Hi Jonny: You mentioned you may feel a falling off recently...IMHO, many of your viewers are not of the social media generation...plus I consider myself a very private person...not a good mix for your efforts. Like the previous comment, I am 70, finally retired 3 years ago, and after returning from my previous fishing, I have learned more from you than any other person on you tube. I bought your playbook a month ago, but have never even figured out to subscribe or give a thumbs up until now (my grandson's name would always popup), anyway I want to apologize to you in behalf of many of us "old moss backs" who sit quietly to avoid being noticed... you are awesome and I wish you the best in your MBA degree and goals you have in you life... Dude thank from Australia I just find out the hard way that Murray cod love jigs as well I went out a little over a week ago now. And I only took with me just jigs! And now I know why you guys love fishing for bass with jigs About a hour and a half went by then I got the shock of a life time. I got smash so hard that it snapped my $300 rod in half! But it was not just how hard it hit it was so fast to! I did have time to ease off the drag I mean my drag was set right but! It was so fast and hard so when it come to jig fishing for Murray cod the drag has to be set just that little bit looser that all. But thank you so much fish the moment!!!! I've been looking for a good video on ways to use the jig in different ways and you did that for thanks again bro.

Great content. You should do a video about water color. You always hear a lot about choosing the right baits based on clarity, but it gets a little murky (get it) for me if the water isn't flat out clear, or flat out muddy
@thenatureoffishing7591

To keep track of this, it's about how much line is moved. By rod, it's how much the rod tip moves. For every foot the hand moves, the rod tip moves much more. We can see how much line the rod moves as we fish, by watching the rod tip move. For movement by the reel alone, know each reel's ipt. Yeah, gotta be paying attention out there. Another good vid.
@anothersomebody8195
@anothersomebody8195 4 года назад
I think the 9-10 position is different because it is taking up the slack and tightening the line underwater that had started floating. Maybe not though, just guessing.
@thenatureoffishing7591
@thenatureoffishing7591 4 года назад
@@anothersomebody8195 You mean the bow in the line draping from the rod tip. Good thought. Slack must be accounted for. But, it's all that water acting on the surface area of the length of line. If we did it in our driveway, you'd be right on. But under water, and the longer the cast, the lure will move even with bow in the line. Same reason a lure planes toward us after splashdown, even though we may think it's free falling. Line has enormous effects on our presentations.

I would be curious to see if the baits came further off the bottom if you stood at the deep end and casted to the shallow end of the pool. The way you are doing it replicates a bank fisherman. Most of the time in a boat we are casting shallow pulling our bait into deeper water.

From a beginner in the bass world, this is great content! I didn't care for the 3/4 oz. presentation, but it makes sense that deeper water would make it act more like a 1/4 oz. presentation. There's ssooo many variables to get really good. It goes to show, consumers are just looking for entertainment. That's not really your niche crowd though 😉 you've attracted the smart ones 🤣 and then of course there's me.
