Great vid. I'm in the leave no trace camp, especially as they brought a hammer and nails and damaged that tree. That's also a nice little woodland glade that I certainly would not camp in for fear of who is going to turn up and reclaim their shelter, with their white cider and god knows what! I haven't eaten meat for years but that steak could almost tempt me, the grilled veggies made my mouth water!

How would you compare these two tents? I have a phoxx 1 v2 like Hazey here, but have always wondered about the Bobcat as you can sit up in it - what do you reckon? I am cautious because someone said it is not a tent for a 6fter like me.

very much in two minds about the shelter, i've come across them and been ecstatic i could rest and have a cuppa without any prep effort. theres also the thought that this is somebodys little getaway and they go there often also something i wouldnt moan about. i think it comes down to the landscape, the tougher the going the less bothered i am by any kind of sign that somebody else was here, theres something nice about some rocks or logs rolled into a little spot for resting or camping.

I've been rocking the phoxx 2 for a few years now , can't fault it , would be tight for two unless we're talking two of the little people , but it is super water proof 4000hh and it's shape means it laughs in the face of gale force winds ,plus with all the mesh at head end I've never had an issue with condensation , bargain in my opinion and underated .
@mack2432
@mack2432 8 месяцев назад
its 5000 hh waterproof actually and ive used it in 35 plus mph with no issue at all but you need to peg it well for that

I'm up in the lakes and folk are often complaining about bushcraft shelters. They'll often say it ruins the landscape of our valley while they're protective of the ruins of flipping massive quarry works. I don't think a few old branches leaning against each other is quite as damaging as blowing bits of mountain apart. I've heard folk complain young folk have been wild camping in what is a commercial forest. Last year they were mithering about them and this year, already, they've cleared it to sell. All the trees are gone and it's churned up by machinery. Build your shelters, have a fire pit. I'd rather that than the lifeless wasteland I walked through last week.

You know what Haze, that's a lovely spot, I think it's a great place to hang out with your friends. There's no litter, beer cans etc. But I understand your concerns that if these places, started popping up every where, that would be shit aswell. I mostly agree with you, LEAVE NO TRACE. But hat's off to the people that made that location, pretty cool.

Great video, Hazey and Joey D. I agree that people should never damage any tree. Agree with you on the shelter. If it’s a private woodland and you’re returning back to it then fair but, the nail in the tree is a step too far and, when you explore a woodland, you want to feel like you’re the first person there, not like you’ve found a campsite. Nicely made but chop it up and burn it 👍🏼

Hey Paul 👋. Did the solo camper guy you come across watch your channel? Could just imagine doing a first solo camp and Hazey and Joey stroll round the corner. Mind blown 🤯 lol. I thought the camp set up was very tidy but shame about the nails. If it is like a regular weekend mini bothy for a few people then it’s a nice idea, but if your not coming back then break it down. I would think that one is regularly used as it’s so tidy and not covered in leaves. Have a great week 😊

I love my phoxx 1 V2 . I've used mine and had dog walkers stroll past without seeing me. I also have the bobcat which is super easy to set up, bags of space for kit, not much heavier than the phoxx. Not quite as stealth though. I used mine on a 112 mile multiday hike and it didn't let down at all and the weather was rubbish!

Great vid as always. Used the phoxx 1 v1 for my first ever long distance hike (WHW) and it was great. Even half way up Ben Lomond. Need like a hundred pegs though as far as I remember. Oh and it only cost like £30 and then recently sold it for more than that because prices are crazy right now.

I have a similar tent - the Grand Canyon Richmond. Similar size and weight though it seems like the Phoxx has a few extra features such as the space for a bag in the head-area. But I’ve camped in -9C in my little one and it worked just great. I take a small lightweight tarp to give myself a sheltered seating area.

As a ancient woodland owner that has a preservation order on it I would not be happy if people left the tracks and wandered through our land, let alone built a shelter on it without our permission. We do have a small camp area as it is a working woodland so we spend a lot of time there but the only structures ( all semi permeant and reversible) have are the wood stores for seasoning wood and a small area we use for the charcoal making workshops we do with a fire pit ect. So as long as people stay on the tracks and not wander off they will not see it. Great video
