Here are my first impressions testing out the new Apple Barrel Multi-Surface Paint Pens! FYI, I received these for being a ‪@plaidcrafts‬ ambassador, but I was not asked to make this video and all opinions are my own.

These pens look awesome! Having 2 black and white pens is a great idea too, I’ve never seen that in a set 😮

Great review, I've just recently discovered I love working with posca paint pens but they're so pricey. I'll have to try these.

I'm just pointing out the obvious. Within the first 2 minutes she said these were water based so I think it makes sense that they didn't hold up under water. Thank you for reviewing these!

Great tip for using paint pens, I wasn't thinking of them like paint brushes and now I will.

Seal your paint pen art work by curing the ceramic or glass piece in the oven. Place your piece in the cool oven when you are finished painting and turn the oven on, setting the temperature to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow the object to gradually warm at the same time the oven begins to heat up. This is important because ceramic or glass objects cannot withstand sudden temperature changes. Allow the object to cure in the oven for 30 minutes.

Exciting! I love Apple Barrel paints. I have my Golden paints that I learned to love from College, but there's always room for my Apple Barrels. I need to think up some fun crafts now so I can justify getting these XD

@Sea Lemon • Jennifer: That glass jar looks awesome. The second coating really took it from meh to outstanding. Thanks for a great demo. 👍

Hullo Jennifer, wonderful video and pretty jars! I have sealed windows and other surfaces with Krylon spray seals I use workable fixative as well as regular fixative and Krylon is a very affordable brand. I have even found it at Walmart! You can still remove the paint with a razor blade scraper if your painting windows for a business. I have even used Varathene to seal wood panels so it just depends on what kind of finish you want on the finished artwork piece. Good Luck!

Hello all. I absolutely adore all paint markers I have been mixing them with watercolor, colored pencil, crayons, glue, tape, they respond differently with different media. One thing I will say for sure my research has indicated it’s best to store them flat on their side. I also Found, washing them regularly helps them function better. For whatever reason dial hand soap is really good about removing acrylic paint. So you want to unscrew the tip gently scrub the small sponge and nib. Let it dry on a paper towel and then put it back together. You will want to do this if you haven’t use them for a while. I had to do it in the summer heat as my pens kept drying out.

I was also watching a RU-vid video on oil based versus acrylic based markers and the guy recommended. If you’re using acrylic, it would have to be scuffed before using acrylic on some thing like glass. He said if you’re gonna use glass you should use the oil based. The oil based works best on glass, metal shiny surfaces. But the issue with Oil based paint markers is that there’s a limit in color. I think oil base colors only come in about six colors.
