Excellent: Michael Harding really understands the chemistry of art materials beyond anyone making art materials presently. We a still waiting for this excellent new line of Miracle Mediums to be available in the United States. As of writing this it seems we have to order from Jackson's in London and ship overseas.
I understand the archival concerns, but this is Michael Harding. The man has built an entire business on the back of his archival products. He wouldn't risk his reputation just to flog a few bottles of beeswax.
Thank you for sharing this video. I have been wanting to try these, but wanted to see how to use them, and voila, Art Life to the rescue! I always learn so much from your videos .😘💐
I ❤Michael Harding products…. I’ve recently tried out his new Miracle medium on a painting and love its non toxic and versatile useage. I mixed it with some stand oil and works well, so glad of no fumes.. Thanks Michael Yeah, and thank you Artlife..
Thank you ☺️ it’s so inspiring to see you work 😃 thank you for sharing, it’s definitely life changing! I was going to ask you if the beeswax medium will take time to dry but you answered that! 😳 I thought it would take a while! I love your voiceover😉 see you soon!
Your videos are incredible and your paintings are always highly evocative and make me feel like I'm standing in them. One day I'll be brave enough to try oils. I've not managed it yet but these look incredible and I'm currently near jackson's Gloucester shop so I could pick some of these up. If I feel brave enough.
Ah do it Christy! Take the plunge, its always daunting when you don't know how, but we should be creating an online beginners oil paint class soon where i'll teach you how and where to start!
@@ArtLifeWeekly actually one thing that puts me off is the chemical smells plus my smell induced migraines so if there are good replacements for things like turpentine then I'm way more likely to go for it.
How quickly does the one you used as a turpentine substitute (I think it’s the number 0 medium) evaporate? And when you say “turps,” or even “turpentine,” are you referring to real turpentine or odorless mineral spirits? I’m wondering if this is really a fast-evaporating solvent like turpentine, or if it behaves more like something like Gamsol. Thanks! Very interested in these products.
Thank you for the review. I'd also (like the OP) like to know if you are refering to real turpentine or (odourless) mineral spirits when you say the miracle one behaves similarly. Which is it?
@@AndrejBlazon Thanks Andre were working on a follow up episode which will answer all these questions bare with us and we'll get it up as soon as we can
Hello. Thank you for these informations. You said that the base product can be used as a substitute for turpentine in the early stages. Does it evaporates, or does it cure like an oil ? Is it sticky, like Sennelier Green For Oil ? How long did it took to dry/cure ?
Thanks for commenting I haven’t used them long enough to give you a definitive answer as yet, but lots of people are interested in it so I’ll put the questions to Michael’s team and make a new video about it!
Thanks for this video! I've been using the Miracle Medium MM0 but the extended drying time is something I struggle with. Does the MM2 Dammar Glaze extend the paint's fluidity?
Yes Polly, as far as I have been experimenting with it, the dammar acts as a translucent glaze layer that also extends fluidity- not as much as linseed oil/MM0 but a lovely medium to work with on finer layers of oil painting!
Hi Esther, Its very hard to say as it depends on how thick a coat and what temperature it is in your studio and what you're glasing over. I'll have to do some testing in the winter but atm if im doing a thin layer can be touch dry in a couple of hrs.
Hi, great timing for me because time to get back it to it! I've just ordered a water mixable basic set because my child has sensory challenges. Any thoughts, pro and cons of water mixable oils etc? Thanks Kate
Thanks for commenting @robcox2862 Ive only used water mixables (medium w in the Uk) whist travelling which I found really convenient although it dries quickly so can make blending tricky.
Love love love the post! 😍 👏🏼 Unfortunately miracle medium is not sold in the US, not now anyways, hopefully that will change, 🤞🏻and can't order it from Jackson's Art in the UK. 😧 Too cute at the end of video! 😄 "what did I say..." 😊 Adorable and talented! 🎨
So far very little difference in the miracle medium itself apart from of course the lack of smell, will keep you updated though over time how I get on with them!
Jessica these products sound breakthrough however will they be archival? In 10, 20 or 50 years will paint crack, yellow or change color due to an added plant based medium? Any thoughts?
Probably not as manufacturers today are highly conscious of market demands in an era where testing labs and research are easily available. Mostly, varnishes yellow but could be removed & replaced. Last : there are no miracle products. Maybe stone if kept indoors 😉
Hello Jessie! I was attempting to send you a message via your website, but the "send" button seems to be inoperative. I don't do instagram, nor Facebook. Is there any other way of reaching out to you privately? Thanks a lot, and this was a great video!
