I've noticed you slope your sig.upwards.I think level is better.Your extra close to the corner. If framed later it may be part hidden. Raise to avoid this. I thin the paint and roll the brush as I load it.This has capacity to apply in one sweep as opposed to three dips.
Hi Jessie! I hope you're doing well! I really appreciate the quality and effort you put into your videos. I’m starting a RU-vid channel focused on the beauty and allure of the French Riviera, and I would love to include a 15-second clip from your video in one of my videos. Of course, I will give full credit to you and your channel in the description and in the video itself. Please let me know if this is okay with you. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
Hi Esther, Its very hard to say as it depends on how thick a coat and what temperature it is in your studio and what you're glasing over. I'll have to do some testing in the winter but atm if im doing a thin layer can be touch dry in a couple of hrs.
All I see is two.silly girls playing with charcoal, great fun but I just can't take your (work) seriously,as long as your enjoying it that's the main thing.❤
Hi, I watched some of your videos enthusiastically and found many of them quite interesting and informative. I'm from Kerala, India and I'm an amateur artist, mostly self- taught one. I haven't step into oils ' caus i'm a bit afraid of lack of technical knowledge of it. Also, I look forward to budget friendly sort of things in the beginning before maturing in the field of oil painting. So avidly watch educational videos like yours. Could you please suggest some materials from buying a canvas to priming to colours to even selling art works. Equally, i can't but say that I really enjoyed your vigour and vitality and charm while presenting your videos. I could feel such a vibrant energy exudes from you to hold the views. Yes, I love your raw energy too. Thanks for uploading more informative videos . All the best for your artistic career and good health
Thank you for your lovely comment, I think this is the loveliest comment of the year! we will do our best to include more informative episodes this year, Thanks again😀
Excellent: Michael Harding really understands the chemistry of art materials beyond anyone making art materials presently. We a still waiting for this excellent new line of Miracle Mediums to be available in the United States. As of writing this it seems we have to order from Jackson's in London and ship overseas.
The NAAP (non absorbent acrylic primer) is amazing as a base pre-oil painting as a primer layer- I wouldn't know what its like to paint with instead of acrylics as i've never personally tried them- I save them just for priming because I don't want to waste a drop they're so good!
Thanks for this video! I've been using the Miracle Medium MM0 but the extended drying time is something I struggle with. Does the MM2 Dammar Glaze extend the paint's fluidity?
Yes Polly, as far as I have been experimenting with it, the dammar acts as a translucent glaze layer that also extends fluidity- not as much as linseed oil/MM0 but a lovely medium to work with on finer layers of oil painting!
Beautiful painting! And yes, taking a class online, tutorials i.e., where we also display our work and receive likes, loves, or no response, is demoralizing at worst, even though any positive feedback can temporarily feel good. So now I simply watch tutorials and demos to both learn and be inspired. I just bumped into your channel today, so thank you!
Thank you so much for creating this video! I’m intimidated by oils, so it’s very helpful to watch the process from beginning to end with your insight along the way.
Hi, great timing for me because time to get back it to it! I've just ordered a water mixable basic set because my child has sensory challenges. Any thoughts, pro and cons of water mixable oils etc? Thanks Kate
Thanks for commenting @robcox2862 Ive only used water mixables (medium w in the Uk) whist travelling which I found really convenient although it dries quickly so can make blending tricky.
Hi @KLeonardM Absolutely this is a painting lesson, it might be harder to blend colours without using oil as the mechanics of the different mediums is different - however it will give you a satisfying result I’m sure particularly with development of light and tonal study in mixing and applying paint.
this is wonderful Jess, thank you so much I had just bought my first oil paints and I was a little bit anxious about starting, this is so helpful and also so calming :) I have just watched one time just to watch and I'll be watching again while painting. Whenever possible for you reiterate, that would be lovely :)
How lovely to see an oil painting tutorial of this kind, Jess. To have a front-row seat, as you explain individual steps, is truly helpful. Please continue with new tutorials if you find the time to do so. 😌👍 And thank you.
My birth name is Susanne~Michelle Pampalona, I go by Susanne Pampalona but sign in a symbol of my initials SP. My full name and details of a piece can go on the back or I can also sign my full signature on the top of the canvas where no one will see if it's hanging. I loved this video. I'm still working on the style of the symbol.
Oh, at three minutes into your video, I feel so “healthy envious” 😛!debating if I should continue watching… Yes, I will because you are so energetic, beautiful and bright! Only recently that I began using MH oils, and I love it! I just wish I could visit Michael Harding’s oil paint factory! The red paint - so attractive!
I am thrilled to have discovered you. There is just so much out there, which is superficial. Thank you for sharing not only your practice, but your references to both history and contemporary artists.
Thank you for a beautiful video, Jess. I’ve only been in Florence for one day(!), on a whirlwind trip many years ago, and alas, didn’t have time to visit the Uffizi. I must return. Especially to see the works of Botticelli. 😊
Hello Jessie! I was attempting to send you a message via your website, but the "send" button seems to be inoperative. I don't do instagram, nor Facebook. Is there any other way of reaching out to you privately? Thanks a lot, and this was a great video!
I received Michael Harding oil paints big tubes… about 15-20 tubes. The greens are excellent. I paint in the south of France where the greens are very lemony and the shadows in the greens are almost Prussian blue. Vivid greens, emerald greens and more yellow greens. The blues are also excellent. I was thinking about getting a Lapis Lazuli blue soon to try and paint a Leonardo esque figure … or some far lanscape.
Do you have a video talking about mixing colors and shades from primary colors, black, white, maybe a few others? What precise shades do you recommend for mixing? Ex. Titanium white, ect.
Thanks for commenting Sonja, I have not yet done a video on mixing colours as yet but I would recommend another Michael Harding Ambasador www.youtube.com/@VickiNorman she's fabulous at explaining mixing!
I ❤Michael Harding products…. I’ve recently tried out his new Miracle medium on a painting and love its non toxic and versatile useage. I mixed it with some stand oil and works well, so glad of no fumes.. Thanks Michael Yeah, and thank you Artlife..
