My EVGA GQ 750 has the exact same behaviour as your G3. I can play something as simple as Minecraft and my PSU just becomes a jet engine. Thanks for this review, I'll be sure to get myself a Straight Power 11 750W to replace it!
Just ordered the 850w version after my 9 year old Seasonic finally started to die. Definitely looking forward to the low fan noise. I have the same Praxis Wetbench and my Seasonic is seriously like a leaf blower when gaming.
Nice review! I always buy such massive power supplies with WAAAAY more capacity than I need. I don't know why, but just always seems like the right thing to do. Keep it up man....always great stuff!
Just got this for my 3080 xc3 ultra. My 600watt is able to run my pc but the pc is just about at 100% load which is not good. Way too hot and way too loud. Had to upgrade to 750
Should be pretty perfect on its capability with that setup. Quickly using be quiet!'s PSU calculator it looks like itd be about at 61% capacity depending on settings and fans and what not. Its a great PSU and best of all, its silent.
@@PCGoblin I got it for my R5 3600x and RTX 2060 Super, with the intention of being able to upgrade to something like a 3070 or 3080 down the line. It has multiple PCIe rails. I feel like wattage-wise it's probably fine for a more power-hungry GPU than my 2060 S, but I'm more wondering about the reliability and longevity of this PSU as I'm hoping to be able to use it through at least a couple upgrades.
@@dpearson80808 For reliability, i wouldnt worry about it as it has a warranty and Ive had no issue with mine. But as for if itll be big enough or have enough wattage for the future I couldnt say.
PCGoblin, Would this Be Quiet Straight Power 11 750w be sufficient for: -- Case: Be Quiet 500DX -- Motherboard: Asrock B550M Steel Legend -- CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X -- Cooler: Be Quiet Shadow Rock 3 -- RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB ( 2 x 8GB Sticks ) -- GPU: MSI Radeon VII 16GB
@@PCGoblin I had a a Straight Power 11 650W unit on my list and got the following note with PCPartPicker: "Note:The ASRock B550M Steel Legend Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the be quiet! Straight Power 11 650 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply does not." I upper to the 750 unit and the note cleared.
i dont know i been reading the negative review comments on amazon about this psu some say there's died out of the box or there's died with in 6 months unless they have the wrong parts or buy the wrong psu for that too happen o ih ave this 500 watt evga psu but even it had negative reviews i buy this psu since 2017 still kicking stong .
While a dead on a arrival unit isnt good, I wouldnt chock that up to bad quality. Its made by humans, dead on arrival isnt unique. But I think its odd that peoples died after 6 months. Ive been using mine pretty heavily for much longer than that and had 0 issues with it and a few of my friends run these kind and theyve had no issues with them as well.
I'm about to buy this psu but the 1000w one. want to make sure it doesn't shut down with 3080 power spikes. Can you or anyone confirm this work well with a 3080 under load ?
I have evga g3 nova 550w+gold ,my desktop never go above 350w consum in gaming . Ryzen1700 oc 3.8ghz ,2x8gb gskill, 5700xt red devil, 1ssd, 1hdd, do you think is worth the upgrade to this psu, by now no issue with evga 550w, i dont plan to upgrade cpu or gpu soon. Thanks i just sub like
Charo dey Good question. This would probably save you a little bit on electricity but I doubt it would be anything you would notice. But thats just an educated guess going off how most power supplies are generally more efficient at about 50% load. Also the less the power supplies has to output the quieter it will be. But those are probably very small gains over what you have. Your setup wont be affected by a bigger or more efficient psu. If your 550w ever dies then it would be good to look at. My first rig had an evga g3 and its a great psu. But when you do upgrade or build a new one just keep in mind the 50% efficiency I mentioned.
The cables are perfect, why do so many many manufacturers insist on using pci-e cables that have pigtails, most people will only have 1 gpu and would prefer to run 2 or 3 power cables directly to psu instead of using pigtail.
Could be, could be. Though ive seen it have more issues with colored shirts than black ones. But I do think the black background is my biggest problem atm.
@@PCGoblin thanks. I plan on getting the 850w version. I currently have GamerMax 850w on my Strix 3090 and whenever I play a game the power supply sounds like a jet. So loud. Glad to see this PSU you reviewed running quited at high load
Choosing super noisy components to test a silent psu is just ... nuts Off course you will not ear it near those two monster gpu's fans, did you really need a test for that ??? Comme on you know better.
Im sorry, im not sure I understand what youre talking about. I was checking it compared to all the components on my system not just the GPU or the PSU. Meaning if you shove it in your computer, you dont need to worry about it. Also as mentioned the evga PSU is far noisier than the be quiet and alot of components.
