Man look... Imma car man... I love Donks but I came from tuner street racing back in the mid 2000s... The fact that this man melted 2 world's for me is insane.
I'm a 2JZ and a Donk fan, but just drop an LS crate in that joint with a twin turbo set up and dip with 700+ HP and call it a day. It's a less expensive setup all around and reliable as a tank. However... I do like your unique setup. It's clean and runs well. Kudos my guy!
I literally was thinking and said something similar in my comment, he really went the half assed route as far as 2j's go. If I was staying i6 I'd have a 100+ mil turbo on a built 2j with a 25-50 shot nitrous to spool it up faster and keep me legit down low outta boost on a triple pump and e85 or race gas....if u not gonna put a twin blown 8 in it feel me?
this car is reason i started fkkn witcha....i be torn loving imports and old schools....you put that shit togetha and made it work.....u stay out of the way and get to the money......nun but love and respect 4 the content
The car is clean and definitely different. Keep your head up. It's a process. You're definitely on the right track to get the numbers you want. Respect.
First off, I love the fact that you went another route. Tried something else that not alot if anyone has ever done in a Donk before and for that alone im always one to give props for being unique, but im also one to ask questions to understand the thinking of folk. In my experience (Having helped build some, and racing against even more) of witnessing Donks in action, ive yet to see one that wasn't making at the very LEAST close to 2,000hp. Dead ass and the reason most typically go with the V8 is not just because it's what these cars come with but the nature of a Boosted, Corn Fed V8 just works with the fact that this is a 2 Ton vehicle, on 26" rims and low pro tires you're attempting to get down the quarter. So out of box/off the line JUMP has to be crazy to be competitive and V8's inevitably, if not MORE, make their Torque numbers WAY SOONER, way down low compared to a Boosted Inline 6. I say all this to say, i get going a different route but why shoot so low???? a 70 mil turbo? Cmon we're slapping 100mill turbo's onto civics...and 2000cc injectors without enough pump to push em???? I heard you in the video say you were gunning for 1000hp or better, it needs to be OR BETTER, period. NOW if you're not intending on running that Donk against others, competitively then that 400+ (Ive sold civics i owned making double that) you made will serve you i guess, and a 1000 would to but if you do, nah man. You're definitely gonna have to up the ante. STOCK 2j isn't going to give you the numbers you're looking for, not reliably, you'd at least be looking at opening it up, head work, replacement on seals, a cam and valvetrain components for the added duration and lift and swapping Main caps and rods and connecting hardware for something tougher. Bring it back to the table with a Triple Pump, on E85 with a Big 100+ mil turbo and a 25-shot nitrous to SPOOL IT and she'll give you 2000 to the crank all day maybe even to the wheel and be at least a few hundred pounds lighter then the v8 boys but making their power. I just don't get it....all that space under that hood and your hardware was BABY mode as hell. Good luck man hope to see this thing do some real numbers.
I dont think this guy is making a purpose built drag car, or even building a street car that he expects to wipe the ground with everything he meets. I see this as a unique sleeper.
Your 73 is looking great, I recently came across your channel. That engine set up is crazy, I'll keep up with your updates. Keep grindin bossman, one love from Toronto 🇨🇦🇬🇾👊
Good to see you getting some me time to do something for yourself. Enjoy the time you have before you start getting those calls 📞 😂 💯 a good day to let your hair down. O, that's right, you don't have hair anymore 😅
One of the hardest donks out. Idk when they gonna give your credit but you dope bro. At my core I’m old school Chevy but I love JDM too. You brought 2 different worlds together with this one. Dope af dawg.
im not a donk guy, but man you are converting me lol. your car is done well and everything flows and everything fits together nicely, the colors, the wheels, even the swap. like i wouldn't use any of it by itself but all together, it just looks right and i would not change a thing.
If you like the any of the Caprices/Impalas from 1971-1976 then you are a Donk guy. A donk is more about the car than the wheels, motor work, etc. so you can have a donk when it’s bone stock
man i was thinking about doing something different. with my ls swap 85 chevy caprice 2 door putting a 2jz just popped into my mind typed that shit in and bang glad to see you paving the way up here in boston nobody knows about that donk life till i pull up and repin the south
I put a Tamiya "The Frog" brushed motor in my 71 Riviera. Didn't work too good,so i put the TRAXXAS brushless motor in it,oh man! It actually moved the tires a little!!
My Mother, and Father purchased a new 72 caprice. Right off the dealers floor. Blue, with black interior. Dad traded it for a motor home later. Can you imagine. Think it had a 396. Not sure. For keeping me entertained, a million thanks. St.Paul.Minnesota.
Now this is a dope build man. Respect for not going v8 like everyone else. Sick wheels on the Porsche too. And man, I skipped over the “good choices and financial help” part. I can’t even get a job… I don’t even know why I’m watching this cause I’m 33 and don’t even have a fucking car. I WANT to work. I want a job so I can save up for welding school. But I live out in farm country, no bus stops, too far to bike. So I’m just fucking stuck….don’t really care anymore anyway. I won’t be here. Bout to end it lol. Have a good day G. Keep it up!
I read the "2JZ" then I read "Donk" then I subscribe. That's just how it works. I remember working in Miami and always admiring the builds parked along NW7th
Was it a fuel pump issue or running out of injector? Either will starve the system.. def should get your injectors dyno'd for flow rate... You'll be able to see it on the map if you have sensors. Will be cooler. Or spark plug check
This is such a crazy build. Curious what made you choose this motor? Personally the sound is nuts but out of all the choices you picked an unusual option for a big body. 👍🏽
On paper noooone of what you did makes sence...right down to the og brown paint.....BUT the reality of what you've done gets crazzzzyyy propsssss. Let someone try to tell me something won't fit again! Well done brah
