Rookie! ;) I saw every problem you had coming before you even started it. That foil caught bouncing kernels in the fold preventing them falling back down to the heat so that was clearly a bad idea. My own personal tip for everyone using an air popper is to elevate the unit off your counter (I put it on a cookie cooling rack) as it operates because the air intake vent is usually on the bottom and elevating it makes sure plenty of fresh air is getting sucked in so the unit doesn't overheat. Also. if you raise the unit's front feet about a half inch higher than the back feet you will get considerably less unpopped kernels being expelled. Use a large pot to catch the popcorn and let it run until there is a solid 3 to 4 second pause between pops like you would with bagged microwaved popcorn.
Thank you.. I got one as a Christmas gift at least five years ago and have never used it.. still in the box.. I came to watch every video to make sure I don't make the "rookie mistakes" 😉
@@peachbellini2615 don't walk away from the popper and pay attention to it as it runs. I feel like a lot of review problems on air poppers are from people that aren't attentive to their little machines on the counter that gets screaming hot inside.
