Testing Posca PASTELS... are they legit?! 

I've learned that sometimes birds rest with one leg tucked up to retain body heat. It's possible that guy only had one leg, but maybe it was just chilly

That one legged goose is my new inspo for training my ankles and balance 😂

Hi Mira! I am a very big fan and have been a fan for many years. BUT I have gone through a few rough years, including surgeries, health struggles and deaths in my life. I stopped watching art and more importantly stopped doing art. However, I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping inspire me to get a sketchbook from Amazon (I'm from South Africa and good art supplies cost an arm and a leg, not to mention that they are hard to find, I stay in a really small town.) I have had some really bad health struggles and have started diving into my art to just get out some of the feelings inside of me onto paper... Thank you for not swearing and being real, a lot of youtubers put me off with their language and their pretenses. So I've found that I keep coming back to your videos. Sorry for the long comment but I truly just wanted to say thank you for being YOU and being so inspirational. You really made a difference in my life and now I can finally be kind to myself in my art. ❤

My favourite coloured pencils are poscas. They came in the same weird tray case so I rehomed them into a pencil case. If I liked pastels I'd be very tempted by these. I love the duck, the shading is fabulous! Plus there's just something about a bird with a bow tie.

Those are wax pastels, meaning they are more similar to wax crayons than to oil pastels. Both wax pastels and wax crayons share a similar base of wax as their primary binder. However, wax pastels typically contain more pigment than wax crayons, resulting in more vibrant colors and a smoother application and less crumbs. Although, wax pastels are softer, smoother, with richer pigment, offering better blending and layering compared to wax crayons, these are more suitable for people who like crayons; not that much as an option to oil pastels, if anything, they are a substitution for crayons. I find the word pastel can be quite misleading.

The pastels I’ve tried were chalky and hard to use. Those look fun and vibrant ❤

I have sensory issues too and I love the Caran d'Aches neopastel aquasolubles for the same reasons as you !

I love the duck swan! I know what you mean about pastels. I have the whole “mixed media” pastels from KINGART, and I’m still on the fence about them.

Ooh. Wax pastels?? I've tried oil and chalk/soft pastels..this is new to me, I'm excited to watch!

I had no idea these were different than other pastel pencils. Now I REALLY want to try them, to try something completely different from other pastels!

Another wax pastel to look into is the Caran d'Ache Neocolor I. I have both, the Posca and the Necolor I, and they feel very similar. The Neocolor I have 40 colors in the range, plus 10 metallics, so they're good for filling out the Posca color range.

I ❤ Posca Color Pencils (I’m a similar storage container that I also like), however, I can’t wrap my head around pastels that don’t really move. One of the pluses of oil and soft pastels are their blendability.

So so good. I feel you on the oil pastel mess and "smudgieness"! I think i may see if i can get some. Even in a sketchbook, they may not smudge or stick? @Mira, would you please test them in a sketchbook? x Nell.

This looks really interesting. I have the full set of Posca Pencils and I really enjoy using them. And the good thing about Posca... you most likely get them open stock if you run out of a colour :) At least the pencils are available open stock cutebird

You should definitely try the caran dache neocolor 2 pastels. It’s basically a water soluble version of this.

I don't know why they're called 'pastels', they don't look or feel like them, they're buttery smooth. I have 5 pencil ones from a mystery art box and they were amazing to work with.

The pencils are packaged the same way. All their products the colours should be the same throughout

I have them, hard pass for me but I also have their colored pencils and those I love. Edit: I have professional art supplies and “doodle n play” art supplies and the pencils fall in the former.

If you like these, you'll love the Neocolor I pastels, which are a big step up. Love the duck piece ❤

Heat your substrate a little and they can be applied with more layers if you want to go superpigmented.

Acrylics are so much messier than oil pastels lol I dont understand how you like acrylics but not oils which can not be blended or you can use tools to blend like you do with acrylics i.e. a brush

My daughter gags and turns green just at the sight or pastels because of the sensory issues and the smell of them.

I hate wax pastels because they don’t blend at all for me or smear. I love pentel arts oil pastels.

3:37 is that lip that comes off the lid not for the purpose of attaching it to the other side when you are using the pastel so you don't lose the top? Like Crayola or Ohuhu markers?
