Have you ever considered doing a video on alternative ammo......when I was a kid we used to get pretty good results on feral pigeons using fencing staples, we called them the broad heads of slingshot ammo, we also used steel nuts, marbles and sinkers.......steel ball bearings were considered premium. We also used Carpentaria palm tree fruit (red fleshy firm fruit, size of a grape).....kind of primitive paintball - they mark, stain, and sting......perfect for non lethal, friendly neighbourhood war games
I did the same growing up with steel nuts and marbles along with other things. I guess I can do a video on some of the non symmetrical items and accuracy.
Sorry I read through the comments. After posting first question. I just ordered and received my second SS sling shot. I also ordered .7mm bands at their standard cut 22-18. I shot 3/8 and have 7/16 steel. My issue are my wrists. So you are shooting a thinner bands and still having plenty of velocity. You even mentioned that you shake with .65 or greater. I shoot anchored at my knuckle to under my ear same as archery anchor. This gives me confidence that I can shooter lighter bands. I just picked up my slingshot after not shooting for a couple of years. I had to go back to my thera band golds so that I didn’t shake as bad. I just chalked up to not have using that muscle group in a while.
No problem brother. I think at an ear anchor .6 will give you good speed. I shoot 22-14 taper 99% of the time. You may need to go a little more aggressive on the taper to get more speed idk but if you do go down to 12mm on the pouch end they won't last as long. We all shake just know when to release is the issue 🤣. .5 may even be enough especially just target shooting. Thinner bands contract faster than thick but it's very easy to over weight them with the weight of the ammo. Thicker bands throw heavy stuff better and seem to be less affected by cold. It's all a balance on what suits you. I can tell you my setup but I shoot butterfly or long draw 100% of the time. I shoot .5 and it's either snipersling or simpleshot brand. I cut them 22-14 taper, that gives me the best balance of speed and longevity. I hope this helps and let me know if I can help any more..
Some very nice shots! I prefere thin bands as well but never tried .4 simple shot black...too expensive to order in eu. Anyway this is one reason why I love butterfly shooting so much - soft pull but maximum speed :) Greetings 👋😎🤙
Hey good shooting , if you remember what ammo were you shooting? 3/8steel? Just curious, amazing how thin bands retract faster make more speed in some cases. It’s opposite of what everyone thinks. At least in my area. Good shooting man.🎯🍻😎
Thanks brother 🙏... Yeah i have done more testing with .5 than anything bc it's my favorite. A 22-14 taper is what I have found to be the best for a balance between speed and longevity on most .5 bands.
Nice review and good shooting! That's a long way! I couldn't hit a milk jug at 55 yds lol! I like those .4s also. It's surprising how snappy they are for the gentle pull they have.
Thanks brother 👊 I have had these since they first came out with them but I tried them once and don't remember why I didn't ever shoot them. They really surprised me with the speed they produced. With this taper they are smoking fast for a .4 band. I experimented with doubling up with a more narrow cut but they were pretty tough to pull back.

I have rolls of it. It is the fastest stuff iv ever shot for sure but it don't like real cold weather. I prefer the yellow bc it's almost as fast but much easier draw. Draw weight to speed the snipersling yellow is un-touchable. I do shoot the snipersling black a lot though. Thanks for watching. 👊
What do you think of the precise bands. I recently ordered some. the other places I looked wanted to charge me more for shipping than the actual stuff I ordered. I’m trying to find a one stop shop but I can manage to find one I’m happy with.
Precise are good bands. I shoot predominantly snipersling but I do keep Precise and simpleshot on hand. Snipersling has Precise and always at a good price with free shipping. The only downside is the wait. 11 to 15 days most of the time but it has took longer. Thanks for watching and commenting 👊
@@ChuckinSteel sniper sling I totally forgot about that one. I just started like two weeks ago. Iv always been a good shot so I feel like I’m picking it up kinda quick. I been watching all the old videos on everyone’s channel. It’s really hot in ky right now so I been shooting bb’s on the simple shot keychain inside the house. It’s a lot funner than a BB gun. I’m chomping at the bit to get good enough to try to hunt with it and get in a tournament. All the videos help to satisfy my cravings until then.
@@Dominochaney some people pick it up very quickly. Understanding how projectiles work or (external ballistics) is key for shooting at distance. I'm recovering from bad shoulders so I'm way out of practice. If you haven't shot snipersling, your in for a treat. The Yellow is amazingly light for the speed it produces. I shoot .5 butterfly with 3/8 steel. If you ever have questions feel free to ask. I'll be glad to help.
