I had bought a KitchenAid, which is a brand I trusted, but ending up returning it after one day because the motor stalled on almonds. I just received my breville yesterday. I peeled a while bag of potatoes, and picked up a knife to chip them, when I remembered it came with a French fry cutter. I tried it, and couldn't believe it. I dropped two potatoes at a time in the chute and before I could blink, they were cut. The thing is amazing!
I hadn't considered this but thank you for calling it out. Is there an organization that is pushing for this capability on the web? I'd like to support them.
I have a Breville panini press that is a work of artful form and function. Not surprised the Breville food processor took the cake. My Cuisinart is 20 years old and has just about given up the ghost. I know which brand I'll be buying this time around!
Just keep in mind that these are all 16 cup high-end food processors. If you are looking for 11 cup or 14 cup, the models and results are very different. Also, interestingly, the prices.
The review should also include things like build quality and power comparison. Also cleaning, some food processors can be a pain to clean, food gets stuck in tiny crevices etc.
Why are there repeated comments on this ??? Either in whole or each sentence. Are they paid to say this? Feels pretty bias. Be aware guys! "These products just look too BIG?! Bought my first breville 1983 it died 2019 just bought a new one. Solid as. Thank you for reading the instructions. This was a really great review. Good job."
Right! Carbon copy comments by different accounts ... like "I really like her Process here..😉" or "I’d watch Esther test ice cubes or envelope glue , I really like her Process here..😉" and more! I hate that. Like bought comments or bots. Just so dishonest. I came here for an honest review on the Breville and now I don't want to buy it because this feels so fake!
@@yosavite_savv I’m seeing this on a lot of other videos, not just this one, and I don’t think the spammy comments are anything to do with Breville. There’s some speculation on this Whirlpool forum thread, here’s one comment that seems like a reasonable explanation: _‘As a guess.... Spammers are trying to undermine the RU-vid algorithm used to detect spammer/illegitimate accounts. Thus, by making several comments on legit videos without spam, it allows their spam comments to stay for longer, or their “like” or “subscription” to a channel to count when they “like” or “subscribe” to their master’s account.’_ forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/9x25qkk9 Of course it’s impossible to reach a human at RU-vid to point this out, and flagging any of them as spam without being able to explain the bigger issue is largely a waste of time. Ultimately I don’t think RU-vid cares in the least, it’s all ad revenue after all!
I just bought the Breville, I own the juicer and it is a workhorse, glad to see the blender is as good. I have used a cuisine art for years, my mother-in-law was a caterer and had one, the old ones were great, doesn't look like they've kept up their standard.
If i have extra money to spend, i'd love to get a robot coupe food processor... i've used them during culinary school and work, they're amazing. Easy to clean as well.
Viony Tania I learned about the RC minutes ago and would love to own one. I’m looking for the least expensive model that will dice potatoes. Do you know which model that might be? I have an original cuisinart 7 cup and it is great. I’ve begun prepping 10 lbs of vegetables weekly and it is a lot of work dicing by hand. I’m ok with a knife, still learning how to use again one after many years.
No thanks! Instead of splashing out $4k Australian dollars, I’ll stick to the Breville one which would do the something similar and use the extra money to go for an overseas trip😂
Robot Coupe owns a brand for households called Magimix. I have both Magimix and Breville and can’t complain. Magimix produces in France and offers spare parts for decades.
How are you liking it? I just got mine for Christmas this year as well! The only thing I’m a bit nervous about is making dough in it because I have heard that it makes though tough during the kneading process.
Shocking! She says that she read the instructions. It really shows. Now we can see a real review not just a video about her favorite then watching her dis on the others because she did not read the instructions. Great job.
pretty sure she was always reading the instructions, she's even been shown doing it more than once in videos. the mentioning of the fact that she did was probably a.) because the kitchenaid was so different and b.) because people like you keep making passive aggressive comments about how she doesn't know what she's doing. but hey if it soothes you and the 42 other people who liked your comment that a trained chef and restaurant owner tells you she read the user manual in a less than 10 minute long video thats heavily edited, guess their new strategy is working.
When considering food processors, I wonder if set-up + food prep + break down + clean up actually create a net benefit over using standard methods (i.e. cutting board and a good knife, mixer and bowl, etc.). Any thoughts?
@@newlin83 I made hummus...once - and NEVER again! It is one of those things where it's better and more cost-effective if you just buy it pre-made. But your point is taken: for a larger quantity, using a food processor does become advantageous.
The breville is big. I’ve had one for 5 years, amazing machine, but definitely big. And you need storage for all of the attachments as well. I store both on a lazy Susan in the corner of my cabinets, works well for me and keeps my counters cleaner
Big but not too big. The difference in size between the 12 and 16 cup isn't all that much but the 16 cup is far more versatile so I recommend it. I have a bookshelf in another room where I store my crock pots, food processor, fryer, mixer. When I build a house it will have a 5 or 6 car garage. I bay for yard, 1 for wood working, 1 for painting, 1 for kitchen appliances :)
Thank you so much. I never even considered a Breville before. My only hesitation is that I don't need these big capacity models. So I'm not sure if the results would be the same.
How does she own restaurants and not know how to use a food processor? You’re supposed to fill the tube with several carrots while the machine is off, then shred all at once. Not just toss a hotdog down a hallway and complain it doesn’t work properly.
I love my Breville Kitchen Wizz Pro (Australian), I have had it for over 10 years now and it is a huge help in my kitchen. Mine came with a seperate container with all the attachments and my slicer can be adjusted to 24 different thicknesses. At one stage you seemed annoyed with the Breville, I was tossing up between the Magimix and Breville but the Breville has a 2000 wat motor compared to the Magimix which was 700 wat.
I’m surprised the cuisinart 14 cup food processor wasn’t in this video. Almost every website recommends that as the top machine. My dad has one and I jsut got one and I love it. Give it a look if you want a no frills food processor that can handle a lot!
Yeah, that'd give them all a pretty even footing on price too. Picking the "cheap" Cuisinart and saying its not stacking up to the more expensive processors it's older more powerful sibling competes with was a strange choice.
I just bought the Cuisinart 14 cup model for under $100 on deal of the day special. In my opinion, it's questionable if it's worth that much. I'm going to return it and buy a Breville. Better build quality, better engineering, better results.
Just broke my 2nd Cuisinart shredding cheese. It did a great job until the plastic clips holding the bowl and chute broke. Called Cuisinart and they dismissed it. They offered (for me to purchase) replacement parts, which are 3/4 the price of the processor. Will never purchase a Cuisinart ever again.
I feel better about spending $800 on the Breville now. ( for those wondering price difference Breville Sous Chef 16-cup $400 Peel & Dice kit $200 More Dice sizes $130 plus tax )
@@madthumbs1564 I have my expensive knife to. And I use it daily still. But the food processor is great for me to. I prefer mincing garlic ect with the small bowl vs my knife. And the dice kit has made making stuff like breakfast casserole super easy and quick. I get everything same size in matter of seconds just throw in my ham potatoes onions and ready to go. It's a convenience. And from what I've read will last a life time. With that said if had to pick between the two my expensive Chefs knife would win. I love it. But this is great when in hurry or making freezer meals.
This video is really helpful, now I know which one I need to buy. Thank you so much and please keep on making this kind of videos. She explained just right!
Given that the Cuisinart is pretty cheap while not really being that big a slouch and that most home cooks don't use these things every day, I could live with pulsing the carrots and almonds a little more for $100 less. But, not a bad job showing how they need to up their feed design relative to the Breville. (Brev makes great stuff, but, I tend to think it's often over priced)
I have the Breville, and it's been a great performer over the years. The latest model has a dicing attachment (also available separately) which isn't bad, but isn't perfect either.
I have one of the high-end Cuisinart food processors, I believe the package was ~$500 and looks like the one tested in this video. My biggest complaint about it is the lid they have changed to. It has an inner spring loaded seal that you cannot take apart. Ease of cleaning is a big factor for me and the Cuisinart is an epic fail in that regard in my opinion. I rarely ever take it out of the cabinet.
We are in the market for a Food processor so thanks for doing this review. Have you tested the September 2020 Versio of Vitamix's Food processor or have you tested any Vitamix Food Processor? Would the Vitamix food processor be as effective as the Breville Sous chef 16 Pro?
The carrots used in the Cuisinart are just too skinny. Probably, if 3 pieces were fed in the chute at the same time, maybe results could have been better.
These aren't industrial processors, and those dicing functions bruise the crap out of produce. You should be able to get a ~1 hour knife skills class that would dissuade you from thinking you need dicing function for home use.
@@madthumbs1564 For home use, who cares if it bruises produce? I'd agree if it's for a Michelin star restaurant but people care more about saving 20 minutes than a few occasional bruises on their veggies and fruits
Cuisinart had THE BEST food processor 1995 DSC5 I think. Used daily for 25 years. I had to replace due to loss with new safety feature cuisinart processor. I just want to get rid of this thing! The safety feature ruined it. Now cuisinart’s MOTOR was exceptionally strong on the juicer, but little whimpy stem snapped like a twig! BREVILLE MAKES THE BEST JUICERS. PERIOD. I used to make and sell artisan breads and pastas, I obviously had the Kitchenaid Artisan mixer in ICE BLUE! Oh how I miss my mixer! I’ve seen, but not used Cuisinart and Breville mixers. They both look outstanding, but I’d still go with my Kitchenaid on the mixer, no question. It did everything I needed it to do and I loved my pasta attachments! Good review, just my 2 cents on high end kitchen gear.
The two Breville products in the background give the impression that this is sponsored test review. Did anyone else notice a smaller version of the Breville food processor and a coffee maker sitting to the left of the stove?
There are many repeated comments with exact the same wording here from different accounts and the Breville company‘s account also wrote comments on this channel. So yes, they seem to be aware of this review.
Oops. I already bought the Cuisinart 11 cup model. But it was a bit over 100 bucks so I'm ok with it. Might upgrade to the Breville at some point. In the meantime, I'm getting good results. Thanks for posting this comparison. Where I live, in Taipei, only the Cuisinart is available and offers a 2 year warranty, So for 100 bucks, what could go wrong? :)
I love having my expensive purchase justified by an unbiased third party. I love my Breville. I especially love how quiet it is compared to my old food processor.
am I the only person who finds the presenter's carrot cutting technique to be super....scary? lol each time she cuts, im worried she'll cut off her own fingers....
I've got an ancient Japanese made Cuisinart that I bought used for $25. about 15 years ago - still runs great. Mostly use it for grinding and making nut butters. Modified it to override all the safety stuff companies are forced to build in to avoid lawsuits but makes things harder to use. Now I can put the blade on the shaft without the bowl and fire it up. Don't try that at home. (: Great video by the way and I love the kitchen design. How about panning around it for about 10 seconds so we can see the whole thing.
I went with breville 16 after looking thru a lot of comments. I need to say, the smaller bowl included is absolute useless because it spills. There are too many unnecessary part/accessories and washing. If I would buy food processor again, I would go with cuisinart and with little to none accessories and washing. Good that breville has a really good customer service, as my bowl crackes on the first use and I got replacement after sending some photos. But I like your reviews a lot, keep it up.
If you need that big a food processor (which most do not), look at a Robocoup and get it over with. The combo ones that have a straight through cutting path are so much more convenient for slicing, dicing, and then you can save the use of the bowl for things it's better suited for. Yeah, probably 2-3 times the price, but they are commercial quality, and parts are readily available if they are ever needed. Any of these things, all it takes is a model redesign and a something breaking means you toss it out.
I’ve had my Breville for years. I still find things it does that I hadn’t done before. I love it ! I got all the gadgets that come with it. Expensive but worth it !
That's why I'm here to, I'm really hoping Los Angeles will let us have a beer and wine license on our trucks hopefully someday a liquor license, food and Cocktails off of a truck would be awesome
I’m very glad I got the Breville! And after this I’m more happy 😁 Have had it for two months and it is a great sous chef! It help us a lot for meal prepping. Got the 16 cup, dice and peel option
Seems like most people bought their breville in 1983 and died in 2019,🤔 Thanks for taking time to have actual real captions for the Deaf, not the automatic with errors
After blowing money and losing patience with a Braun, Cuisinart, and KA food processor, I finally plunked down the money for a Breville Paradice. The difference is immediately obvious. LOVE Breville products.
I have this model of breville food processor..it really worths buying..the superiority of sous chef is it's double bladed chopping system..the adjustable slicing disc and peel and dice attachment..breville is unique..everything of breville is unique.
Which one seemed easiest to use and to clean? Also might mention the motor size and noise comparison. Other than that, you did a great job and thanks for doing that demo.
I've got the breville. It's a beast. Just be careful with the dual blade chopper. I'm clumsy and have sliced my finger twice with it.... I'm an idiot so it's just a warning to other potential idiots :)
I bought the kitchen aid mini first because I have the classic stand mixer. To be fair it works great, but I heard that their other products are not that great. Just bought my cuisinart as advised by ATK in a sale (£90 from £280. It came with EVERYTHING - so lucky). So looking forward to using it 🤞
I think... I'd rather like if they do a cheap as heck food proccesssor check up. Pricepoint of 400 is great fora resturant, but I'd love tsee home use versions!
Depends on ther esturant. I could see food trucks or brand new mom and pops going for this. its a easier investment for the now, and an upgradable fature in the future. most starting resturants dont' have a couple of grand laying around for one item
$400 is a person's weekly pay. -Most people can't compete with the speed of one of these. Those making ~$400/week tend to damage such equipment though. I believe in investing in employees.
I think this is the best review Esther has done. Very informative. I got a Cuisinart based on reviews from America's Test Kitchen and have been woefully disappointed. My Breville Convection Toaster Oven is a real champ.
thank you... appreciate all the tests that were run...helps so much. but have to tell you, breville stinks...just take a look at amazon's one star reviews. i have had the big one for over 2 years. at first i liked it....BUT the quality of the plastic parts just stinks. i have had 2 bowls that got stress cracks...and now the liquid leaks on the bottom. i have tried to order a bowl but they are always out of stock....for months. so now i cannot use liquid in the bowl. trying to put the spindle on gets so stuck you have to wrestle the the thing off to remove it from the bowl. i have to have hubby do it. perhaps it is the stress cracks that makes it so snug. I mean i is STUCK on...almost need a hammer...just nuts. the large gray pusher thing has a seam and won't let you put it in the dishwasher...i didn't read the actual part in the beginning so i did .... but it would have been so easy to make this part w/o a seam so that no dishwasher water got into it. meanwhile, it too has cracked and i could have wound up w/a piece of plastic in our food....not good. after a few months of use, i looked at the handle of the thing and it is full of food swished into it during the dishwasher clean up. it is nasty and you know it's unsafe... have tried removing it, but so far i've not been able to. so in the beginning, it worked great, but after time the lack of quality shows up everywhere. i used to be a breville fan, but this thing is garbage....currently looking for another one. NOT A GOOD CHOICE.
have you tested slicing tomatoes and cheese ? i'm using a ninja kitchen professional for home...the food processor sucks...chute is too small for every small roma tomatoes....very time consuming to shred cheese and the plate that's comes with it is skinny shreads. ok for house use, but not if one has to make alot for an event or big family potluck. i guess one has to buy a separate food processor...strangely the wattage is so powerful 1500, so i'd expect the food processor to be more functional. epic failure ninja.
I skip the videos where they only show the products and really don’t demonstrate how well the products work!! not very helpful!! You taking the time and effort to show others how the products work is very helpful when having to choose which product to buy !! Highly appreciate your demonstration !! Nice job!! Thanx
you are supposed to fill the whole volume of the feeding sleeve with the bunch of the carrots, and not put by one.. This is wrong. Read the manual of the Cuisinart and KitchenAid. I know these two need it.
