Pyrotechnic cord runs around the engine and auxiliary heater. If a fire is detected, a signal is sent to the Fire Control Unit (FCU). The FCU is responsible for:
- Shutting the effected engine down
- Illuminating an engine stop lights on the drivers desk
- Sounding the fire bells in the driving cabs
- Illuminating an external orange hazard light on the vehicle where the fire was detected
- When the speed reaches below 3mph, operate the automatic fire bottle
Pressing this button is part of the process for testing the fire system on a unit preparation cycle.
