Forgot to mention, this was done at 14.4 volts.

That fan is your cheat code! 😂 Nice setup! Thank you for sharing your results... 73

You showed you was pushing your wave form into compression. At that point the amplifier would be responsible for splatter because it would now be creating more IMD products . The radio may be clean but once you push into compression the amp becomes dirty, Ie if the radio alone set up correctly was showing a imd at -35dbm down on the primary signal, Then I can say your amp pushed into compression on your oscilloscope, would have raised your imd product considerably . It may add colouration to the audio as you have said else where. This colouration will be causing splatter. It’s my experience if Toshiba and others give a imd spec at 100 watts at 30 MHz at 12 volts, when you push past this These imd products can be a problem and you will be splattering regardless if the radio is clean or not. Since You now have a spectrum scope , surely you have seen as you push into compression on the devices your harmonics go up, Your imd products rise and your signal gets wider. Amps can and do cause splatter , this is why transistor manufactures give specifications. And why the Fcc gives imd level requirements . Ever wondered why when a Japanese ham radio manufacture used Toshiba 2sc2879 in there final stage, they used two and only run 100 watts? That was due to the transistors being very clean and having lower imd numbers at half there rated power. The Toshiba spec sheet shows just that. Keep up the great work and the learning process Sharky. Just pointing out the flaw in the thinking. It’s just not about the bird numbers alone ! Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should . And rarely do the RF engineers and manufactures get it wrong. There are other factors than bird numbers alone. I enjoy your videos Sharky and will watch the learning progression and journey All the best Robert

I wish I could understand this stuff , but my brain can’t get on that page . But I’m not against paying for someone to build me something that does , so I’m glad there’s people that get it

He doesn't understand this stuff nearly as well as he pretends to. His monologue of "splatter" mixed with "harmonics" and his showing an oscilloscope waveform which does not show either is demonstration that he does not understand the topic.

Nice video.your approach covered all the bases.had my subscribe soon as I saw the scope hooked up with a audio generator attached.lol.i love bipolars.there very rugged at least the Motorola's I've designed with, generally 30 to 1 load mismatches at all phase angles are survivable.yes and bipolars are less capable of generation of higher harmonics or spurious emissions.great video.thanku!

If you planing to tune a network with a transformer from in and outside, some people will tune the network by applying power from the radio. how will do it with the analyzer? I appreciate your videos. thanks

How high in voltage did you take it up to?

Would you be willing to share what your capacitances are on the input and output transformers? I'd love to build one, so any info you can pass on would be super. Thank you!!

Are the output transformers custom? Can they be bought from ICA?

Great video looking forward to the next one. 10db gain ain't no slouch. The first 10 db really make a big difference, after that, supplying power gets expensive. Is the 1 pill driver biased A/B ?

I believe the DX65(rare) and the dx100 are class AB... The modulator plus and V plus are class C

The gain on those devices is awful. That shows that those transistors are certainly not up to industry standards. Aren't you the least bit suspicious that no legitimate company uses that manufacturer's devices in their product? HG is NOT a recognized semiconductor manufacturer in the electronics world. If I ever suggested using some of their devices in one of my design reviews at work... I'd be looking for another job the next day... LOL

Dude your "pallet" is nice but imo not 600w for $4,000 nice. Sharky had ldmos 1500w for $650 with filtering. Just saying
