Barrel system is working good mate water looks on point fish are looking good and healthy I'm feeding saki ballance at the mo cracking food 👌 we will have to arrange a trip to oaki koi next season 👍 hope all is good with you and family mate 👍😉
I feed my koi by hand and I always have intentions to weigh but I just feed them for about 5 mins or so 🤷🏻 So I guess about 100grms per feed at mo as temps just over 20c Digi’s say 20.7c but float🌡️ says 22c They get 5 feeds was feeding 8x but temps where at 26c too 28c
Nice one mate, your koi are looking fantastic. Your Chagoi and Karashigoi look top quality…… 👍🏼 Barrel filters are doing a great job, I like mine too, but getting tempted to swap the 1st one out for a Pod and keep the 2nd one running as the fluid bed. Or……. I might just do some more tinkering with the 1st one…… 🤷🏼♂️😊👍🏼
Thanks Andy. What is your first barrel currently doing...vortex like mine or static? I do like the easi pods...recently been tempted to build a small pond like your wooden one and run that on a pod
@@BrizzleKoi Hi mate, it basically acts a vortex mate and then the water leaves via filter wool, so water is always crystal clear. I think my set up lacks some static media but i may actually just instal a good few old fashioned brushes all around the exit pipe of barrel 1 which would give some form of static. It’s not a big pond, and I don’t really want to start major surgery on the barrel filters. Adding brushes would be very easy though, and will have more surface area than you might think…. 🤔🤷🏼♂️
@AndysKoiPuddle I put 6 brushes around the exit pipe of barrel 1 and the difference it made to the static media in barrel 2 was awesome. Before the brushes the static media in barrel 2 would be screaming for a clean after 2 days....now with the brushes 5 days can go by and the static media Still looks good. I see it now as more of a tempest barrel...just polishes the water up nicely!
