Todd, thank you!!!!! My 500 sub episode goes into more detail of the channel and my stuttering. I have gained a more level of confidence with how much support I have received on this channel regardless of not being 100% fluent all the time. I get some negative comments but usually my stuttering is a non-factor, as it should me. Yours in solidarity! Travis

Travis, curious what’s the biggest cc saw you have? What cc size seems to work best for your wood yard duties? I seem to always use a 60 or 70 cc. I do have a 500i which I believe is 79cc. I use that when I get in bigger logs.
@travisdoesfirewood
@travisdoesfirewood 4 месяца назад
It's a good question. I am well over due to put out an episode with all of my saws. My biggest saw is m 460 at a (true) 60cc. I could probably step up to 70cc but of short stature dude and even with my broad shoulders I wouldn't want to be thrown around with too much power - ya know. For sure a 500i is great for buckin' larger logs, and ideally you want a power head that is powerful enough for a long enough bar so you're standing up (and not bend over) when you're doing your log cuts. Since I don't do much buckin', my 460 is fine for now. I may step up to 70cc soon if I get more logs but for what I do now the 460 is great. (since it is a HUGE step up from my Craftsman saw you may have seen a glimpse of in a previous video). Hope that answers your question. Keep the addiction going, and keep cuttin'!

Great video. My son had a stutter when he was young. It looked like his mouth couldn't keep up with his brain. So I told him to be thinking about what he wants to say as he taps his leg with a hand, and put the words to a tempo that he can choose. He didn't stutter for longer than a week. If it helps: awesome, if not: sorry to bring it up. No worries. I'm considering buying a Stihl, and this brand came up in my YT recommended maybe just in time. I don't have a company, but I have 4 large trees I need to tackle before they destroy more of my property. Have a great one.

Thank you for watching, and for sharing about your son. There isn't a connect between music and stuttering but I understand the method you tried with you boy. I know there isn't malicious intend in your comment, I appreciate you taking the time the share. My 500 sub episode has a deeper dive into my history of stuttering, and after that episode I rarely edit out my stuttering in my episodes. The Pinkway is a hit or miss in terms of when it is available on Amazon. A professional arborist in my state, Jake @Guitly of Treeson, used the Pinkway straight from the box on a job and it did well (it was on his channel). Even for one job like your four trees, the 20" Pinkway will serve it's purpose and be cost effective. I have an update on that saw coming soon so stay tuned. Thanks again for watching, keep cuttin'!

Travis, buddy, great video. On checking the bolts for tightness, i keep seeing where people are referring a lot to like checking the carb, cylinder holdown bolts, clutch & flywheel. I posted a question on a farmertec group a little while back about buying and building a kit saw vs spending another $70 to, buy it already assembled. That was the big take away recommended if you buy a completely assembled saw to go ahead and take a good bit of it apart to check the tightness of most of the bolts. So i opted for my own benefit to just buy one and build it myself. More for a learning opertunity & since it was recommended to take most of it apart anyways, why not just build one. Those are the only bolts i think for you might be good to just double check. Congrats on the subscribers ive noticed over the last week or so you have gained alot. You will be at the 1k mark soon keep it up.

There should be letters on the back of the oil can that grades the oil, the higher the alphabet letter the better it is… I always use no lower then D… if I had no choice and was stuck with cheap low grade oil I would then run 25:1 mix. I personally use Lucas 2 cycle mix oil. Good stuff…

Few people know how to work with chainsaws , an axe , a hammer . Chinese saws are sold here for 80-150 dollars. Their quality is not very good . But if you sell firewood for 350-400 dollars per cord, then you can work with a Chinese chainsaw. It will bring money , and Husqvarna can be protected . With respect to you!

Now I am going to explain to you now why not 25:1 except 1st tank on new saw or cylinder. Here we go .first all Chinese saws say 25:1 . That saw has got a dpf type filter in the exhaust don't believe me check out novice Lumberjack videos on one getting tore down . I recently put a new cylinder kit on my echo 501 chainsaw the 1st tank was slightly more oil than normal and the unburnt excess oil was running down the front of the muffler after it . When I bought my neotec 872i a clone Chinese saw what says 25:1 .first tank same outcome oil everywhere since that it has ran 40 to 45:1 for 2 years just fine . Could you imagine the state it would be in if I kept it 25:1 for that 2 years. As I said that saw he has got has a dpf filter mesh inside the exhaust and if he does not believe me it's simple to remove the muffler and shine a torch in . 25:1 will totally clog up that and the heat won't escape thus meaning there is more chance of burning up the saw and have a look at richard flaggs videos on stihl ultra oil because that's what the inside of that saw will look like after

If, oil coming out for then just do 50 to 1. Never heard of 25 to 1.
@richardsneddon2976
@richardsneddon2976 4 месяца назад
Exactly bud . 25:1 was the ratio used years ago before emission laws and the companies developed there oils better . Chinese saws are clones of old saws . I.e pinkway , weimars and a lot of the Amazon ones are all clones of zenoah komatsu saws and they are even using the old instructions . Even my neotec stihl clone and the holzfforma clones all ask for 25:1 . All my saws are ran at 40 to 45:1 . But whenever I get a new saw or replace a cylinder piston kit I always add a little more for the first tank to bed the rings in . And the oil is always running out of the exhaust. That's what I was trying to explain to him . That pinkway if it's the same as the weimars has got a dpf mesh type thing in the exhaust and honestly could you imagine the state of it after a few tanks.

Hi Travis, I am no Arborist or chainsaw expert. I have been processing 12 cords of wood a year for the past 10 years. Several things about your video. 1. Your sharpening technique is off. You need to drag the file straight at a 30 degree angle, you are moving the file up and down as you are filing. You also need to file down the depth gauge or "raker" that is in front of the cutting tooth. Your technique is actually dulling your chain. You should purchase the Stihl 2 in 1 chainsaw chain sharpener. Those things work exceptionally well. 2. You talked about modifying the muffler. Don't do this. 2-strokes need back pressure to get the most power. 3. Oil ratio of anything higher than 32:1 are not really necessary. You can actually run the saw on 50:1 if you are running a good full synthetic motorcycle 2-stroke oil. Bel-Ray, Yamalube R, Golden Spectral, Klotz can all be ran at 50:1, but I run all my 2-strokes at 35:1 with good premium non-ethanol fuel. I have been racing 2-strokes since 1973 and was a pro motocross racer on open class 2-strokes, so I am very familiar 2-stroke operation. 4. Chain tension should be done with the bar up. I usually put a block of wood under the front of the bar to lift it up while adjusting the chain tension, tighten the bar bolts and then remove the block of wood. Feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions.

Its not what the makers of the saw says thats important. It the makers of the oil you go with as they are the ones who have researched and developed there oil to be used at a certain ratio . Not the chainsaw makers . As i have tried to tell you . That saw has a dpf type mesh inside the muffler. I also tried to tell you what happened to a saw i replaced the cylinder on and a neotec ns872i which is a Chinese clone also asking for 25:1 . After each of them were ran at 25:1 for there 1st tank there was oil spewing out the exhahst and all down the front of it as it was unburnt . Could you imagine that after 10 , 20 tanks . The neotec has been ran the same as all my other saws ever since 40 to 45:1 for 2 years now. No issues. If you doubt me take the exhahst off its easy to do and shine a torch in through the back and you will see the filter . If that clogs up the saw will lose power , struggle and won't be able to get rid of the heat and burn up ffs....also filling up a warm saw listen to yourself pal . Some people only have one saw . If it was warm enough to ignite fuel what about the plastics its surrounded by i have never heard so much bull crap in my life . Go on run your saw 25:1 soon you will be putting up a video with a burnt out saw or a non running saw because of carb issues .
@richardsneddon2976
@richardsneddon2976 4 месяца назад
And furthermore that saw is a zenoah komatsu clone same as all the other Chinese saws like weimars etc . They are using drawing , instructions copied from years ago , now because I have used saws for nearly 25 years I know the answer to this but do you . What was the spec mix ratio of 2 stroke oils years ago .........................25:1 ..........now years of research and development fro all the leading companies stihl , husqvarna , castrol , ams , sabre , echo . Guess what oils are far better now so I hope this sinks in for your cheap little Chinese clone zenoah saw ..p.s I don't really care what you do but don't give out the wrong info ......honestly don't re fuel a warm saw . Logger have done it for years ...and they are working in certain zones that have a lot of restrictions because of fire but I don't see them carrying 2 big saws with them or a guy up an extremely large tree with a top handle saw absolutely ridiculous
