The “weird” dr tongue style has been used by East Indians for many decades, though there are similar flat flexible plastic ones that are older. They used to cost less than a buck a piece. They do require two hands, flat or bent, but I’m so used to them that I don’t think them weird. You brush first, rinse a bit, scrape gently, then do a final rinse

So I am watching this in MI mright now and it is -30 (wind chill) here and all over the mid west. Fellow midwestern beasts please stay warm! If you dont have a home with heat go to your closest shelter for the night, I know alot of homes have lost power. Keep water and food and blankets in your cars. If you are super bundled up and u start to feel really warm and sick get inside IMMEDIATELY because this is the first sign of hypothermia. Lauren here. The pronunciation of my name is definitely a regional thing. Growing up in southern California and the Seattle area, I was always "lo-ren" but now that I go to college in the Midwest, I'm "la-ren." I don't really mind how my name is pronounced, but I always refer to myself as "lo-ren" since that's how my parents always said it.

I’m pretty fine with whatever way someone wants to pronounce Lauren! I tend to pronounce it closer to as if it was spelled LOREN, but I don’t mind how other people say it. Growing up with a last name that people butcher constantly, you learn to get over people screwing your name up 🤣

Here's a tip: if you want to "train" your gag reflex away, practice brushing or scraping while reading something. Your brain will concentrate on the reading, and you won't gag. (I just read the soap bottle or something, next to the sink.)

1:43 He's right. It is regional. No accent or Midwest is pronounced "loren/lorie" regardless. East Coast is "lauren/laurie" for the "lau" spelling. If it's with an "o" it's always pronounced as the Loren/Lorie variety though, no matter where you're from in the U.S. I hope that makes sense

As a Lauren with an au I can speak on the subject. I get called both, and I don't really notice the difference. However when I say my own name I say it like "Loren" but tbh they sound almost exactly the same.

Old reliable is definitely the best. And BTW Link I think the brush does help. It "loosens" up (gross) the particles and stuff on your tongue and then allows them to be scraped away more easily. It's important you don't scrape too hard though!

The first part of the video really bugged me 😂 Lauren is pronounced ‘lor-in’ here in Kentucky and Laurie is ‘lor-ie’. but I guess it would vary depending on which state you’re in. You’d be surprised by how often people say my name wrong when talking to me though or think i’m saying my name is laurie when introducing myself to people.
