I bought this amazing device about a year ago already and still hasn't been able to properly test it. I needed it to make 360 videos for my other channel ‪@WhySitHome‬ and all these months I've been pretty much using the Spatial Audio mode only. But I hardly ever used the H2n for simple stereo recordings. Guess now's the time! I took it with me to the countryside and ran some tests with all its 4 modes.
For your convenience, here's a list of tests with timecodes.
00:05 2ch mode
02:17 MS Stereo mode
05:14 XY Stereo mode
05:59 4ch mode

I really appreciate your words. This is exactly what I always thought a tech review should look like. And I also hate watching those videos whose titles say it's a new camera test but 80% of the time you see a talking head who's being smart about all sorts of things but it's all mostly completely irrelevant.

This is an awesome reference! I'm planning on buying a 360 camera and I have this mic to bundle the audio to create an even more immersive experience when watching the 360 videos. For just regular environment spatial audio, which mode/setting do you think is best? (to get the whole sense of placement of sound).

I’m glad you enjoyed it! For 360 videos you should pick 4ch mode on the device and enable the Spatial Audio option in the settings. I have another channel where I share all sorts of travel videos including 360 ones. You can find them all here ru-vid.com/group/PL8uOyKQAInFu0wfx3alQmlZR6xIZaitQ4&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE The only thing though, I only started using this recorder a bit over a year ago so my older 360 videos you will find there are in regular stereo. I also have an explanatory video on this current channel about my setup for filming 360 ambisonic stuff. Hope this helps!

Hey and thanks! In this video I used some cheap plastic one but now I use the DJI Micro Tripod which is the best (a bit pricey though but sooo convenient and tiny).

Oh it will shine out, believe me. There's multiple videos here on YT with musicians using it to record instruments and gigs. It sounds amazing.

You plan to use them together? Because if so, I don't think it matters what mode is on on your H2n because the main device in this case is the Roland, and it can only record simple stereo.

@@stuff2check I will indeed use them together. When I plug in the earplugs. The sound is then also recorded via zoom. That creates a lot of noise.

But why? Isn't it easier to plug your Roland straight into your camera? Or you just do audio? - and if so, why do you need both these devices working together? Btw, I once had these Roland mics and made a video for the channel. @@stuff2check I use the Dji action 4 to make car POV videos. The idea is to record the image and audio separately. Do you have a suggestion?

so you want to attach some sound recorder to your Action 4 so you can have better audio? but doesn't Action 4 already sound good enough? I've seen a few videos, and it sounded real good
