I had to first download Sony Play Memories because it wouldn’t connect or recognize my tether cable. Then I was able to connect to LRC and CaptureOne. Also, I had to change my CaptureOne preferences to Sony and that made it easier for it to be found as well. With CaptureOne default settings it has multiple cameras, you want to only check for your camera brand.

super tuto ! I have purchased a a7rv and wanted to start tethering. i was ready to buy capture one all in one 24usd/month and just discovered your tuto. i suppose we need to buy the "zero camera" option at 99usd ? which cable for a7rv would you advise and cable block would you advise ? perhaps better to buy a L-bracket with cable block (small rig ?) ?
@Tethertools
@Tethertools 10 месяцев назад
Just wanted to chime in here... If you only intend on using one camera at a time in Smart Shooter 5, you would use the "Zero Additional Cameras" option when purchasing on our website. Additional camera purchases are only necessary when you need to use the Multi-Camera Capture feature which permits using more than one camera at the same time. For the cable selection for the Sony a7R V, it would depend on the type of USB port you have on your computer. You can use the "Search By Camera" option on our website (tethertools.com) in the navigation bar. This will allow you to find the cable that fits your particular setup. We also have a number of different cable management options available on our website (Products → Cable Management). Some options are designed to work with L-Brackets, but there are a number of different approaches that you could take in this regard. Naturally, feel free to reach out to Techsupport@tethertools.com if you have any additional questions.

Just purchased smart shooter 5 (win11) for Sony a7rv and tethertools usb-c right angle cable, launched it in LV and it works fine. Then, I launched lightroom classic and could take pictures (note : i was in AF-S single point and LRC or camera didn't take the picture until focus was ok ! perhaps better to switch to manual focus ?). But cannot have liveview inside LRC as we can have inside capture one. Did i miss something ?
@Tethertools
@Tethertools 9 месяцев назад
Thanks for the question. Live View will only be available in Smart Shooter 5. The Plug-In does not have a way to pass Live View into the Lightroom Classic tethering interface. Therefore, we would recommend having both software windows open and switching back to Smart Shooter 5 to monitor Live View as needed. Hopefully that helps!

wonderful! thank you for making this video. I bought the Smart Shooter 4 and everything seems to be working now on Lightroom. However, I am shooting with a Sony a7ii camera and the option to save both JPEG and RAW was disabled (in gray), would this be happening because of my camera model?
@Tethertools
@Tethertools Год назад
This is correct. Some of the older Sony a7 models do not permit any changes to this behavior. Unfortunately, you can only use the default camera behavior which will be reflected as greyed out in the Smart Shooter 4 interface. Newer a7 models will have this as user setting that can be changed.

On first try with Smart Shooter my Canon allow me to pick focus points, the Sony no! What gives? Suggestions? New to Sony! I like that tip about complimenting yourself not the client! completely makes sense!
@Tethertools
@Tethertools Год назад
Many Canon and Nikon cameras will allow for the focus point to be changed in Smart Shooter 4. Unfortunately, Sony cameras do not permit this kind of adjustment through the software, so it is not possible to change the focus point in the Smart Shooter 4 interface. However, it is possible to change focus by using the Live View Focus adjustment arrows in the Camera Controls panel.

I cannot get this to work properly with my Sony A7IV. I think there are some problems with the auto focus communication because the AF AREA fills the entire live view screen and scripts such as Focus Stacking does not work. I also tried the Lightroom plugin but could not get this to work either. Does this not work during the trail?

We are sorry to hear you are having issues with several features in Smart Shooter 5. We have responded to the email you sent to TechSupport@tethertools.com. To summarize the response here: There are no known issues with connecting the Sony a7 IV. The trial software is unrestricted and provides access to all the features available in Smart Shooter 5. Some Sony camera + lens combinations will not produce a noticeable change when using the "Small" focus adjustment, but the "Medium" and "Large" focus adjustments should work without issue. If you continue to experience any issues, please respond to the email so that we can troubleshoot the issue further. Hopefully that information is helpful.

So, it is imperative to install smart shooter in order to use any sony camera wih Lightroom Classic?
@Tethertools
@Tethertools Месяц назад
Thanks for the question. Lightroom Classic just added support for a few Sony cameras, so your camera may be supported in the newest version of the software. You can find that information here: helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/tethered-camera-support.html Smart Shooter offers expanded compatibility as well as more features and control over the camera. Therefore, if you would like to take advantage of the additional features that Smart Shooter 5 offers and/or your camera is not supported in the latest release, then Smart Shooter 5 is your best option. You can download and use a free 30-day trial of the Smart Shooter software. The trial is an unrestricted version of the software and allows full access to all the software features during the trial period, including the plug-in. You can download the trial from the Smart Shooter 5 Product Page on our website: tethertools.com/product/smart-shooter/ Please note that you should keep Lightroom Classic closed until you have successfully connected the camera to Smart Shooter 5. Please feel free to reach out to techsupport@tethertools.com with any questions.

Are you able to use flash trigger and wireless tether, at the same time? - Cant seem to find out how or get any info on it.... can you even do that? (Sony A7iii)
@Tethertools
@Tethertools Год назад
There should be no issue doing this in theory; However, many wireless tethering methods will not work with Smart Shooter 4, so it will depend on the method being used. If you are able to establish the connection in the first place, there should be no issue with the addition of a wireless trigger for your lights. If you would like to discuss your setup further, please reach out to technicalsupport@tethertools.com. Thanks!

@@HDBnB1 I can't really speak to LR running on Rosetta but we have not heard of any major issues in this area. Sony cameras will require specific camera settings in order to be able to connect. Therefore, please confirm the following settings on camera to ensure the Sony a7R IV is setup properly: (Setup) → USB → USB Connection Mode: PC Remote (Setup) → USB → USB LUN Setting: Multi (Setup) → USB → USB Power Supply: OFF (Network) → Cnct./PC Remote → PC Remote Function → PC Remote: ON If the camera is still unable to connect, it is possible that there is another piece of software that is intercepting the communication between the camera and the tethering software. To avoid this issue, be sure that all other applications are closed and there is no software running in the background. In particular, please be sure that Google Drive and Dropbox are not running in the Task Tray / Menu Bar.
