I remember when I first played Tetris on my uncles Game Boy. For the longest time I thought the goal was to build as high as you can as quickly as possible. I have no idea why I thought in that way but I remember having lots of fun trying to build different types of towers with the random pieces I got. The games may have been short lived but just proves to me that even when you play it the wrong way you can have fun with this game. Quality stuff.
I finally understand the Tetris lore. I want to thank Dunkey for explaining this deep and complex lore. My favourite part is when Mario and Sonic team up to fight Frieza and Dio. I won't spoil the outcome, but it's one of the greatest fights in history that you need to experience for yourself.
As an extreme tetris enthusiast... this is honestly a really accurate review, not gonna lie, I laughed on several occasions. Although the games are all named by different companies, and are therefore really different from game to game, it is so confusing which is which and is honestly funny to attempt to sort through to find one you like to play. I give this video a like, and I am gonna share this. Thank you for the video, I am actually sad it was so short! :)
Once or twice every month the phrase “It was at this time Tony Tetris entered his sicko phase” rumbles around my head, and so I must watch this video. This is the best video.
Noah May yeah those are real. The bill Cosby one is about when his son was murdered, and the Kevin Spacey one is just another of the million different pieces that were ran back then basically saying “we’re like 99.9% sure this dude’s gay”
Hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahhahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahaaahahahahahahha That was funny joke
When he showed Wetrix at 2:40, I almost shat myself. I had completely forgotten about this game. When my grandparents bought me a Nintendo 64 in the late 90s, I got Star Fox, Mario 64, and fucking Wetrix.
You know, Tetris 99 has different songs if there are 51-99 players left, 11-50 players left, and if you’re in the top 10. I guess dunkey’s never made it to the top 50.
You've got it backwards, Call of Duty can only dream of getting as many bottom effort re-releases as tetris, for it is the granddaddy of mass-resold games
don't you know that the N64 was the REAL gamecube! you dumdum, the fake "gamecube" was actually a 1984 prototype designed by the Russians, that's why it failed
I like how in 3:55 you can see for a split second that the mickey mouse tetris is actually made from capcom (witch is the context of that scene is disney saying to capcom that their tertris game is better) and it quickly got censored from dunkey lmao.
Im sorry but I can’t stand by and let you mock the beautiful relaxing game that is Tetris splash. They changed the “Tetris” sound to a sensual woman whispering “splaasshhh” With it’s overtly sexual-aquatic themes, I ask you, what more could a growing boy expect from gaming?? It has even been called the spiritual precursor to the film “the shape of water” and is likely the reason Guillermo del toro even exists.
Dude, seriously check out Tetris Effect if you haven't already. It is a really good Tetris game, probably the best one. Most of all though, it's just simply therapeutic and pleasing to the ears and eyes. I can literally listen to the soundtrack of that game all friggin day too. Lol
The New Tetris is and always will be one of my favorite time wasters. I used to play it all the time with my grandmother when I was little. Now I have it on my phone. My how times change.
apparently pajitnov was going through a severe bout of depression when he made hatris 2.9: a fragmentary passage; this is very likely the cause for the controversial stage 4-13: "Пустота," where the player must spent upwards of 3 hours dropping dunce caps on a single man's head.
@@grimfin3214 well, i was thinking of that one scene in evangelion (a show famous for having a creator struggle with severe depression midway) where rei and asuka stand awkwardly motionless in an elevator for an entire minute. i was also thinking of that one part in the stanley parable where you have to waste hours stopping a cardboard baby from "walking" into a fire. i then integrated these ideas with the general feeling of constant failure that defines my day-to-day life. now you know what goes into making a moderately popular youtube comment that no one will think about in a week. now, you will hopefully reflect on how to live a better life than this
Dunkey, your videos supply me with hours of happiness even if i have to do chores. as of now, im cleaning my room, and im listening to many videos i put into a playlist. thank you for creating amazing videos. your amazing.
You ever heard of Tetris DS, that was the best Tetris game of all time. Hitting you with the music, multiple game modes and mobile version of Tetris effect a whole decade ahead of it's time.
Just because something has to do with the twin towers doesn’t mean it also has to do with planes crashing into them. And FYI… This was before 9/11. 2001 at least.
I've seen this video like 5 times and I only just noticed "Hatris 2.9 a fragmentary passage" Dunkey vids are like the best films, there's always a reason to come back to them lol
Trust me, it is the Dark Souls of puzzle games, nothing really beats Tetris. I kind of wished he covered Puyo Puyo Tetris, but maybe he will cover that with a Puyo Puyo video in this style.
@@autistichades5552 Puyo would more likely be the Dark Soul of puzzle-game, since it's more "hardcore" in low and middle levels (though it's similar in high level: playing the game your whole life and still think you're not good enough ahah).
@@xenotypos you might be right, but I wouldn't really say there's a difference between the two, Puyo can't hold and hard drop, while tetris punishes misplays heavily and requires crazy like speeds.
