I agree, one of the best songs of the 1990s. It actually sounds slightly 60s or 70s in style, so it's amazing it's an original song. Slightly Carole King style if you know what I mean.
I'm listening to this 18 years after it came out, and it still sounds perfect now. Such great memories of 1997 while listening to this when I was a carefree 18 years old. Sigh.
I was 8 and to me it was just as prominent as Barbie Girl in terms of popularity so not sure why it's got less than 1 million views, maybe most people forgot this gem.
When I was a kid my parents used to play me both the Beatles and Motown/Soul classics all the time, and I have always loved them. Then in 1997, I was 15 and this song by Texas, a band I already knew and liked, appeared, and I fell in love from the start, because it was a sound I loved, but it was not common at all at the time, and I couldn't believe I was hearing something like that in a modern song. It made me a fan for life and 25 years later I love it even more and I still think it is one of their top 3 songs ever.
@@jamsams so true. all one has to do is listen to the Supremes' hit "Love is like an itching in my heart". The same can be said of Vanessa Paradis' "Be my baby" and the Dolly Dots' "Love me just a little bit more".All Motown/Supremes-inspired songs

Indeed so. I didn't know who did this, so just looked it up as it was on the radio. It has that "old" jangly vibe melodic energy to it. Doesn't sound 28 July 1997 at all.

I heard this song nonstop as a kid back in the 90s but never knew who the artist was. After randomly hearing it again for the first time in 20 odd years, I was shocked to find out the artist was the band Texas. Really does sound like a Supremes song with a rock flavour.
