While the movie may be kinda corny and not really that scary nowadays, you can't deny that the soundtrack and ambient was so impressive for it's time and it's still haunting to this day, the use of real skulls, the actors actually getting hurt in some scenes, everyone being sweaty, the disgusting visuals of the house, Sally annoying/terrifying screams, the machine industrial noises...
For a very short time (not short enough to suit me) I lived down a country dirt road with goofy hillbillies about a half-mile from me. They killed and butchered a hog with a chainsaw (no lie). That was in the late 1960s. Today, those dim-bulbs would be in deep shit with PETA.
fun fact, during the dinner table scene temperatures got so hot it began to *cook* the meat on the plates, so not only would you get a meal- but a well cooked one at that.
Did the soundtrack ever get a vinyl release because this seems to be excerpts from the movie ! If it hasn’t some one needs to finally release a vinyl version!!!!
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film was fantastic. Do you know where I can buy the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre soundtrack. It is proving hard to find.
+Hallowell Carew Thanks for the info, it is greatly appreciated.. I would love to include it in my radio show where I play movie soundtracks each week. It would be awesome for next years Halloween special.
this is what TC 3D was lacking... subtle, disturbing sound effects music.. ah .. man the new movie was too much likea glossy horror film with Trey Songz and all that.. it was too clean and the music was your typical horror music. the original film had subtle music and felt like documentary.. i mean tobe coulda put NING ning NING ning psycho music on the chase scenes but it was better without it.
