I don’t get people who talk about “West’s redemption arc”, he doesn’t have one. He’s bad from start to end. Grey’s and Nolan’s relationship, now THAT’s something fun to see evolve.
West did get better tho. His whole arc was "my dad was a cop and I wanna be one too but turns out, I wasn't that good as I thought I am" trope which, is good. Till the end, he did evolve to be a more all-around cop than to be a stick-in-the-mud, following all the rules without thinking cop. He did get better.
@@MrLolx2u This. He will never be the best cop and it's also kinda unfair from writers to pile on basically all the mistakes and what happen to police officers onto one person. It's really unrealistic that way. I'm glad that those mistakes get time in the show but it's kinda unfair how it's just pile on. So I'm glad that West gets better arc. I see the whole thing more of a bad writing mistake before they figure it out.
I guess I am a bit harsh on him. I liked the arc with Stanton, but maybe I liked the story more than I liked West. But I’m a big fan of Thorsen, so it may skew my view of West
I laughed so hard everytime you made the Timbone joke. I love that you refuse to let Officer Worst get away with anything at all. Like his ONE job was to sit in the car & he couldn't even do that.
Fun Fact: both the guy who was stopped during the drug problem spot and the guy who playes the undercover agent both played with Nolen in the show Castle
Also love that they are confused and still skip episodes, I realize that it's difficult to watch every episode but like, as we see they are constantly confused because they miss a ton of stuff by skipping around.
@@OnlyCops To be fair, you did say a the start of the S02E02 that you skipped the last two for actual reasons. There's some Chenford stuff that's pretty good, but I respect your choices to focus on the actual cop related content - particularly having read the 'About' statement on your Patreon. Keep it up!
@@highmaintenance7879I’m trying to get better! I had the sleeve lore ready, but I had to look up why Bishop left mid-filming 😬. We try to prioritize highly requested episodes since we can only film about once every 2 months.
I'm just waiting for the episode featuring Nyla Harper. When I first saw that episode, my god, comedy, awesome. Tactics, and weapons use, what the hell. What a fun ride that was.
hello, ex bee farm worker here - transporting the bees to somewhere that has a particular plant flowering or to a convention makes sense. Or it might have been an emergency swarm removal and didn't have the usual equipment for a short notice job. Otherwise, the amount inside the car is weird. When we transported hives we'd block the entrance to minimise how many we lost, ideally we'd prep and transport them at night or in winter, and hives were strapped to the back of the ute/truck. So my guess is swarm removal or if this was his hive and he had to move them during the day, maybe he did it inside the car to minimise bee-loss and then the newspaper he had blocking the entrance fell out.
Thank you for helping us out with this! I love it when you all provide insight we cannot 😊 thank you for your work with bees and your contribution to the comments section 😁
My family are been keepers. You can also sort of command bees with pheromones. Hence why smoke is used. It doesn't calm them down but rather hides the sent others are using to signal danger. That way only one or a couple bees get angry instead of a swarm. But in just that way, the sent of banana can be similar enough to the danger pheromones that if sprayerd on something bees may attack it. Or you could spay someone with sugar water and the bees will surround it to try and get the sugar.
My first experience driving on the Highway, I was helping my dad deliver a hive to a new location when the bees suddenly got loose and started flying all over the car 😅.
As usual, I enjoyed this a lot, I cannot wait for you to watch episodes 10 and 11 in this season, I really hope you don't skip them, looking forward for more
@OnlyCops Currently 2:30ish in the morning I'm dedicated But oh boy, you guys sure took the shine off of West. Guess that's what happens when you see his shit through civvy eyes I still think it's one of his best, he made a mistake (a lot of them actually) and moved heaven and earth to make the best of it. Doesn't make what he did right though Still on his "Officer Worst Shit" though, I promise you he gets better
@@OnlyCopsoh boy, you guys sure took the shine off of West, goddamn. I guess seeing it with civvy eyes excused certain things I promise you he does get better, just gotta slug it out first with Officer Worst
7:30 That scene is so iconic, because Nathan Filion and Seamus Dever worked together as part of the main cast for Castle, which, ironically enough, is another cop show, except Nathan's character, Richard Castle, was a writer who worked with the NYPD and used his best-selling mystery novel series mindset to help. Also, the show was comedy gold!
There was the case where a cop demanded that the nurse take and turn over a blood sample from an unconscious accident victim. The nurse, after confirming the regs with the hospital Legal Dept said "no" and that the cop should come back with a warrant for it per the agreement with PD and the hospital and HiPAA. The cop then proceeded to arrest the nurse. Note, the Nurse was following the law.
@KaiHouston-m6j The detective/ officer was fired, his defense was "he was only following orders". seems that in his entire 27 years on the force, this was SOP until it suddenly it wasn't after the video was broadcast. His Lt who had ordered the arrest was demoted to "police officer III".
We covered that case in one of our live streams, the cop was a total Dbag and we applauded the nurse for advocating both for her patient and the law. It was a weird situation
@@linusa2996 If it was the case in Colorado. Massive lawsuit, and the State revoked QI state wide (with a small buffer) Changed law enforcement in Colorado forever.
@OnlyCops thanks. I'm on the clerical side of a hospital. When the video circulated, we were reminded to never release anything to anyone without a warrant, court order, or written permission from the patient.
Ooh episode 4 is coming yall are going to have strong words for crystal yall are going to hate her at the start then like her then hate again end of season then like for the rest of series
Great videos and reactions but I highly recommend watching episode 4 season 1 to see if it’s something any cops would do. And thank you for all you do for the community.
Bullets can be traced to the batch that they were sold in. The FBI used mass spectrometry to analyze the lead / elemental content of the bullet in the Robin Bishop murder. While the bullets are mass produced each batch has slightly different measure of trace elements, using that they linked the fragmented bullet to the box of ammo the suspect had.
It can definitely get you close, but if it's a common caliber (9mm) and in one of the largest gun owning states in the world (California), it's circumstantial at best
This is a Strange question but, When your not on specific assignment, or responding to calls for service, What do you do? Like, other then the generic "paperwork." Of course your driving arround, stuff like that, but are you driving arround specific areas, stopping and jumping out to talk to people, walking into buisness owners to check on them?
He was also still there to talk to the dude who jumped because that guy was on Castle with him and so they had to get actual screen time together. Same with the drug user they arrested at the beginning. You guys should react to some episodes of that show! Lol. Dillion is an author shadowing homicide detectives for a book.
It wasn't the ADA telling West they had no case which caught my attention. It was your standard Law & Order reason for even having an ADA on their cast. It was identifying her as an ADA and not a Deputy DA that told me something changed behind the scenes.
Love these reactions and the 2 different views in explanation 1 straight forward and another diplomatic of a sense. For the crime deterring maybe Smitty waiting to see if some bikers left then increase their odds if they make contact, but worst is worst. The gun these criminals aren't the brightest and 99% has his prints on the shell casings and chain of custody as you mentioned and was conveyed well by the prosecutor. The yellow car foot bridge is where they filmed Brooklyn 99 the assassination attempt where holt is a patrol officer and butting heads with Peralta. Nolan pulls guys, he pulls.
Not a beekeeper but I know a lot about them. You cannot command bees to attack. They would not just attack them like that for no reason unless they were African killer bees which weren’t prevalent during the time they were filming. Also a beekeeper like he “is” wouldn’t have bees randomly in the car like that where they can free roam they would be in a controlled environment and the queen bee would be in a case which would cause the bees to not want to attack anyway.
I really can't wait for you guys to get to 2x10-2x11. 2x11 is still the third-highest rated episode on IMDB, in over 100 episodes of The Rookie, and the fourth-highest rated episode on IMDB... is its lead-in, 2x10. Featuring the debut of an excellent actress who, sadly, very recently passed away. I'm genuinely interested to hear what you guys have to say about that character and how she interacts with the officers.
@@OnlyCops You're welcome. I admit that skipping certain episodes has me a bit frustrated, because you're missing out on some great stuff *including* police work in those episodes, but I understand your time is limited. Just.. don't skip 2x10 and 2x11. They're pretty important.
I would love to see a react video by a pair of your LA/Cali counterparts to your own videos as a means of seeing how policing training, procedures, beauracracy, and legislation impact practice and reactions.
That would be the goal, substance abuse is a medical/mental health issue. Dealing drugs is a criminal one, I personally tended to have more interest in going after dealers than users
I love all the comments on this video before it premiered saying how they better give Wes a fair shot because he does a good job in this one when he literally causes the death of a woman with his same old no discretion police work
I can't recall many more fun episodes from the show. There are a few, like the last two episodes of season 2 and the introduction of Nyla Harper. Since you're not a fan of West, you might like the first 10 minutes of season 4, episode 1 (if I remember correctly). Other episodes don't contain as much police stuff. I do enjoy your reactions, though! You've helped me discover 19-2 and SouthLAnd.
Just started rewatching the rookie and I noticed an interesting episode. S2 E9 "Breaking Point" officer worse is hired to be a technical advisor for a COP TV show in the episode. How bad he is at the job , is funny to think he would be any good at it. Would be entertaining to see you two tell what really should be told to the actors. Hope you guys give it a view.
So far my favorite is definitely officer Chen 😊 I relate the most to her moral compass and find her genuine want to make a difference in everyone's lives ernest and refreshing
- They don't really have to see the transaction cuz the whole action before they stopped right infront of the Tesla was already suspicious enough for a probable cause. Like, who in the hell would reach in thru the window like that if you ain't passing something to the driver? And 2, the boy just fucking bolted when they switched their sirens up so again, who in the hell would run if you ain't a crim?! That's enough probable cause for them to just bullshit about them catching the transaction and let the criminal hook, line and sinker themselves. - Is there a law/rule where parolees cannot meet with each other? Cuz ours here, it's not controlled and in fact, the system encourages people to meet other parolees for experiences they had in prison and outside of it to remind themselves why they would not wanna go thru the system ever again. Works pretty well tho so I'm genuinely curious about that policy IF the US has that against parolees. - There is never a "sure win" situation for cops as every interaction is a 50-50 on who one-ups the other in their actions 1st and I highly suggests that cops should NOT tackle nor taze someone with a Tokarev. Avid shooters, especially those that shoots war surplus knows that the Tokarev doesn't have a external safety so if it's cocked, all you need is to pull the trigger and bang, there she goes thus if you tackle the kid who now as a cocked and loaded gun, it could fire anytime and taser would cause spasm which, again, might cause the kid to clutch the trigger and bang, there it goes. There's really a no "sure win" situation either way. The best way is to talk to the kid, get his attention, go in slow and steady making small talks then take the gun away from him. What I have SERIOUS problems with isn't West trying to take the kid down but he should have forced the mother to get away THEN slowly approach the kid, not let the god damn mother linger infront of a live fucking gun and talk sense into the kid like.. What the fuck bro... - Iirc but I might be wrong, for LAPD, "phase III" means that they're already out of the PTO program and is a fully inducted officer which meant that theoretically, they can be policing alone on certain duties like watch duty but just that they're not "stripped" (Getting an official epulet rank) yet. Nolan out of all the rookies was the fastest there cuz his work on the field was actually rather good whereas Lucy is also a "phase IIIer" but just that Tim kept giving her problems and never releasing her or finding her fit for solo duties thus tagging along whereas West was still stuck in phase II thus he can't be alone at all times. - For the morgue scene, it.. Kinda makes sense on why the DHS agent didn't see the fella climb in the gurney. Lights were out and it was incredibly dark plus he has a rampant saw going at him thus his eyes were suddenly blinded by the sudden drop of lights and also panicking about the saw hitting him as he can't move. So when he asked Nolan to remove the rampant saw away from him and then taking Nolan's backup piece, he now knows that he's composed and at least stable thus he redeemed abit of focus. So when the person popped out from the gurney, he can see the silhouette which he couldn't whilst panicking and thus, he could fire and in fact saved Nolan's life. Won't say that smashing the lights panel with a hand is possible OR even knocking the whole room blind because of that but why the agent nor Nolan couldn't see the enemy crawling and hide in the gurney was warranted as both was blinded by the sudden drop of lights and both were panicking about what happened.
You do bring up a lot of good points, I am just of the mind that you want as rock solid of reasonable suspicion as possible before trying to effect a detention. I am also of the mind to look at the bigger picture as a police officer and do your best to understand the longer term effects your actions will have on the community you serve
@@OnlyCops I mean, it's up to personal human thinking on what and what not to do tbh. However, I seriously have a legit question... Is there really a policy/law that doesn't allow parolees to meet each other? Cuz that shit don't fly here and infact they're encouraged to so that they can share their experiences in the pen and also help each other with opportunities if one has it with other parolees as a way to reduce crime and reincarceration rate.
22:43 hay props to him for being honest just no I’m not ok 34:48 60 year old man laugh 34:54 my mom is obsessed with that show I don’t know why there’s actual good shows 37:42 yeah ok but it was west sooo Shuold we rely be counting that as professional of something 42:50 I might be half blind but something tells me that’s not the same actor would be crazy if it was the same person tho also side note unfortunate your s.w.a.t gideo got taken down/ copyrighted 51:52 average day in Chicago pd 😂😂😂

@@houstonhall1851 we did a react on an episode of 19-2! Surpsingly good. The other Canadian cop show we watched was Rookie Blue which was…. not as good.
Um Actually... Many beekeepers get deadly allergic to bees after a while and have to stop working with bees because they are too sensitive. That is one thing that doesn't make sense in beekeeping, immunity is most of the time totally random. Here I am, again, giving completely useless information. You're welcome. o/
Another useless info: At least in my country all the medical/social workers should have rooms to work with where they have two escape routes out if the patient/client gets violent or agitated. So that weird hospital room wasn't a surprise for me. It's often their only way to be save and even solve the aggressive situation. Sometimes just leaving the room quickly and letting someone be on their own space for a while can help. Security guards and police are mostly useless or harmful here anyway, so the real policing is often done by social worker or nurses. Most of the women here are our unpaid police force.
@@OnlyCops Don't say that or I will continue deposit my random weird uncommon life knowledge without any degree to proof it. Okay... For bee thing I actually have gardening degree and that is lightly related. Also... My useless random knowledge well is deep and my villain power is to fill other people's head from all of that crap. Because I have no other powers. Muahahahaaa!!!
Honestly I think the cuts hurt your understanding of the shows. I get trying to get it into more reasonable time frame, but I think people who are interested in your reaction/opinions wouldn't mind. And if they're here indeed only for the police aspect of the Rookie? Then the video includes 'too much' anyway. There is almost always some sort of build up, that pays off right in the same chapter and sometimes you get only a glimpse. Or worse a part of the reaction without the initial reason that just doesn't make lot of sense, or can even color your opinion of characters and their action. For example the fun part about the bet was, that Tim actually asked to be slapped by Rachel, just so they both get one over Chen. But she in the end find him by accident in her house as we seen :-D
I definitely think some of the thematic aspects of the show get missed due to cuts but they would make our already slow process even slower and we are seasons behind 😅 and I don't know that Bill or I are qualified to give writing advice to show runners
@@OnlyCops Understandable. I really enjoy your take on the police stuff. Since I think Rookie actually really tries. I think you will especially have a good laugh once you get to the episode where the Rookie cops are on a movie set to help them get the police stuff done correctly 😀 Still sometimes the missed/cut out stuff gave the reasoning behind characters actions

Dang im just impressed one of youll knew that pistol. A TT tokrev is kinda rare in the states. Good call. But i am with him west is the worst character. Yes for a tokrev, you could get easy ammo cheap from wulf or even Tula. Which would go for about 32 cents a round
