OMG Those seniors weren't wasting anytime. All the paperweights were nice. The ones with bubbles are controlled bubbles. The brass inkwell is super awesome. The alabaster figures, and war canon would have been great buys.
They had one of the best magnifying glass at that awesome sale you almost missed! I love mine so much better then tiny jewelers loop at home! And if you find in resin they are awesome too! (Round top straight side about 3 inches tall was the one you left behind!)
The Scottie is indeed a door stop, but is not old and more than likely a repro. A lot of cast iron Scottie figures were reproduced in the 80’s and 90’s. I actually have two exactly like this (seam and all) that I purchased new in the 90’s. The desk set rocking piece is an ink blotter. The side containers were the ink wells. That may be the best piece you got for a dollar!
I was worried you wouldn't pick up the inkwell and blotter set- so glad you did, my guess is that will do ok, not tons of money but ok. I agree with you though, it's hard to buy everything even when it's cheap because it's hard to manage that quantity of stuff. But you got most of that table, so, you're good! lovely video as always
I went garage saleing today and found some great items!! A Kate Spade purse and Betsy Johnson purse for $1 each!! Bought myself a Dooney & Bourke for 1.50 for myself!! Also some great clothes, but unfortunately I saw no jewelry.. I wanted to find some so bad.. lol
Oooo those dolls, looove them.i got still my doll from when i am little,he is now 61 years old.he is in my special glace closet(?),🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩💐💐❤️❤️he looks like the little dolls you have now,
Hey Tanya...thanks for taking us with you:) I just wanted to mention that Turtles require full spectrum lighting on their tanks or they will not be able to process their food and get the nutrients they need...their shells will get soft and eventually they will die. I used to work for a veterinarian who specialized in exotics so we saw a lot of birds, turtles and reptiles. Turtles are cool though...good luck with him and I hope this helps:)
Tonya couldn't you hear me yelling to buy ALL the paperweights?? I collect them and even a plain clear one is worth $20. Also the colored glass bubbles looked like antique Japanese fishing net floats. I wanted those too lol. Great haul. I was begging them to stop packing. Exciting video!
You should have kept the popsicle stick lamp! They are called Tramp Art and it could be worth $25 to $100! They are vintage! I have seen paper weights with people putting their loved ones ashes in them. Hope they didn’t sell any of those by accident at the retirement center!
Nice video! That gold clover 13:49 is gold plated, sold one long time ago, you got wonderful stuff in that garage sale. You should take me with you next time 🙄.Thanks for the video
At the first sale I wished you had taken everything, she was so done and probably would've given you all that and the kitchen sink for a good price if you'd asked, just to get rid of it all, the second needed a bit of delicate maneuvering however still doable as far as getting a great price for a lot considering they were tired, the sun came out late, I'm sure they had worked really hard and could've been persuaded by your charming personality. This was one of those take it all Miss Tonya vid. Lol. Peace and Blessings. Namaste
I love that glass turtle! Are you parting with it? Three times you picked up the little carved, green bunny. I would have picked that up! I find myself “telling you” to buy this and buy that!!! LOL
The inkwell in the middle is called a blotter and you use it for drying up the ink that you have just used. You found a beautiful piece but it's still upsets me that you did not buy everything that they had
I think for a $1 a piece they just wanted to hurry up & get rid of it all. Yes I would have offered them $40 for the 2 tables & they probably would have taken it.
I would’ve grab the white wicker basket! I love those in a dollar for that was cheap. When you gave her the $10 I would’ve told her just to keep the change for the tote. That’s just me though
Tonya, there is lady with a channel on yt who I thought you might really enjoy. She is a doll and does quite well. Her channel name is Lavender Clothesline. Let me know what you think if you get time to watch her. Blessings!
I watched you buy those dolls and last night just saw a show on cable about this lady buying a haunted doll at a garage sale- Yikes. I would be throwing some holy water on those creepy things.
Next time you see this happening, offer them 100 and that you will take it all away.use yr storage as a sorting place and you can get massive amounts of inventory and pay nickels on the dollar for it.
Why were they packing up so soon? I was surprised you didnt get all the glass bowls and candy dishes. I hope they were donatating everything to a charity. They really had nice things You paased up some nice leather bags. You felt rushed, because they were packing up,so fast. They probably should have started their sale at 8am because they got cold!!
That lamp is technically not real tramp art. Tramp art is using small pieces of wood, generally cigar boxes and making small notches in the wood to form geometrical patterns. I could be wrong but I didn’t see any whittled into the lamp. The reason I say this is my grandfather was a tramp artist and helped author a few tramp art books.
Kate L You’re right, but this 1950’s version is also an example of what is recognized as TRAMP ART. True TEAMP ART or HOBO ART as it was originally called came into being as a form of barter as Hobo’s transversed the country on the rails in and after the depression. This type of creation was a “modern day” recreation of the original.
Yeah i think you got a good deal you would have paid way more if you shopped earlier. I think you wouldn't have bought as much as you did if you had to pay full price. So great deal yaa
I love the cast iron Scottie dog..... Sooooo cute. And yes.... You would think maybe they'd slow down and give a break to someone who is obviously going to spend money. They make you feel like you're in a whirlwind!
It truly is a shame they didn’t try to help you more and get rid of the stuff it would have been less they would have had to haul back inside and do away with . I would have encouraged you to but buy buy ,
At that first sale I woulda grabbed that coach glasses case!! That was soo funny you shopping them packing.. Lol My fav was the lil Scottie dog, he's soo cute!! Ohhh I saw you are in TX where at, I'm in North TX, in the panhandle.??
Where are you. Those were nice sales You probably should have said $25 for everything any he would havev$30-$35. Obvious they were in a hurry I bet they were going to.a flea market
