It's because they were trapped in stalls all night and unable to walk around. Horses are constantly moving, so when you take that away from them, they have built up energy. The blankets were needed, the stalls, not so much.
@@deedeeiam Could be true since all of them seem to run wild after being let out. Another thing a horse person told me is that only the soiled hay should be cleaned on a daily basis as the smell reassures the horses in single stalls.
I was thinking the same thing! I noticed them together in the barn and in the pasture. Uncle Moo is watching over Pearl. I bet he snuggled up with her over night to keep her warm. He's the sweetest!
uncle moo.. orrr step daddy moo cuz u no SanTianna and moo pick on each other well she wil mooovve him along with those sharp horns she's got N be picking on each other
I live in Iowa couple a week ago I had to pick up my 94 year old neighbor from a rehab center when to get her and could not get into my car they was frozen shut and it was even in the garage at the back door open and finally got the diver side open.and got her
Lester u have to stop apologizing for everything like your well house. You have got one of the most amazing and loving farms/sanctuary ever. You take such good care of all the babies. Anyways, we say "we don't come to visit to look at your house, we come to see you." ❤❤
The animals will need a little bit more feed because it takes more energy to keep warm. I’m not sure how long you’ll be in freezing weather, but if you see that the pond is freezing up, you can put a bubbler in it. Moving water does not freeze. I am hoping you are doing well. I’ve been watching the news with pile ups on the roadways and that the power is out. I’m hoping you have a generator for your house. Keep us updated if you can Lester. We are worried about you all.
I hope he thawed or gave them all water, Babies, horses probably needed it from all night. Thanku Allison for update, Lucky you, wish I lived closer to them! Seen the news, weather across the south, mideast, some freezing storms, prayers for all in those.🙏💗
You did a great job getting the farm ready for those cold temps. Love what you did for the turkeys. All the animals really! When you don't see weather like this, it must be daunting. You did well!
It's amazing watching a video how I see from the eyes of someone that doesn't have snow versus living with snow every Winter how annoying it is but watching snow from your eyes Lester makes me realise the little things we take for granted Like the 1st time you see cat 🐾 in the snow how wonderful it is thank you Lester i love your videos i look forward everyday for them 💞
us southern people don't get snow and of the whole thing I wanted to do what brinleigh was doin eat the snow!! being from FL it snowed one year here 1989!! so if I was lest I'd be amazed at the whole thing!
Lester & Jamie you guys rock. With the horrible conditions that Texans are going through, you guys still positive. Thanks for showing us how the babies are doing!!
This is fabulous!! Jamie did a great job getting those horse blankets secured. The horses are very happy. Your engines all seem to be responding well. Love that you have "piggies in the straw"-- going off the song Turkey in the Straw. Petunia is pretty toasty and will not be happy if you force her away from her nest. The turkeys are perfectly happy. Buckee is a thirsty boy and Dixie, like all girls, needs a "no boys allowed" sign.🤭 The geese want corn and worms, don't even notice the cold.
I was just going to say the same thing. If there is snow or ice on top of the cattle and horses that is good. If they are wet then it is not good. The snow and ice means underneath their outer coat then they are warm. If they are wet that means their heat is excapeing and they loosing their heat.
‘It’s like going in your sisters room when you’re little’ 😂 so true. They are like children. They want to see if ‘brother’ may have had some good snacks and left some
That was funny with Maggie, Lester and Jamie you deserved some fun after all the worries about keeping all the animals safe! Blame the rope falling off on Maggie she's the one that is over weight that was a crack up 😂
Please read!! The snow on Tex and Santianna actually means they are very well incubated. If the snow was melting then that would be a problem. The fact it’s not melting means they’re nice and* cozy!
Same with horses. If it were melting that means the heat is escaping. It's probably just a shock to them because they're not used to that kind of cold.
I woke up to almost 2 feet of snow here in Ontario Canada Lester, but unlike you guys all my babies (dogs & kitties) were in inside. Love how you & Jami love your babies. Lots of love from Canada
Don’t know exactly where you are, but I’m in the GTA and I was hoping we’d get away with very little snow this winter. No such luck. That being said, we still don’t have much as compared to regions years.
Spraying WD-40 in the car locks will keep them from freezing, can also spray along the rubber gasket of the car door will help the door from sticking. It's so good to see everyone did so well overnight, good job on all your preparations!!
❄️☃️Love to see the clip of Lexi and his half-brother out in the cold I could imagine him eating snow, playing in the snow with everyone there on the farm and making wonderful memories! 🤣☃️ ❄️
Loved this video! I come from “Snow life” here in northern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 , so it’s kinda cool seeing your fresh and new experience with it! To compare, it was like my first time in Mexico walking out in that glorious heat!
I remember riding in a big tractor tire tube and being pulled with the four wheeler. Here in Michigan we get a lot. Keep your selves warm down their praying for eveyone
Lester, the layer over the Longhorns (Santianna and Tex) means their coats are keeping them nice and toasty warm!! Look how well insulated they are, and how good their coats are at keeping warmth in and the cold out! The snow and ice on their backs shows you how efficient their bodies and coats are at doing what they do! Horses, cattle goats etc. When they are cold will shiver just like we do! They were nice and toasty warm in that bed you laid out for them!!!❤️❤️❤️ They did just fine overnight! One more thing I want to add is keep an eye on your horses for those coats making them too warm. A horse sweating under a blanket can make them ALOT more cold with a blanket on than having the coat off. You will want to remove their coat, dry it out, allow the horses to dry completely before throwing it back on. ❤️💗❤️💗 We oftentimes have to remove our blankets and do that here in Ontario Canada. And the horses have to check each stall because there may be some snacks left behind that they can have/share! 🤣😂🤣 Our horses do it too!😂🤣😂 How you prepared ALL of your babies for this snap of cold weather shows how much you love each and every one of your babies.
That's how we felt when we got snow in ARIZONA!!so much fun a nice little change.glad everyone and the babies are doing well and enjoying the change of scenery ♡
Lol...That's a great horse angel!!🐎😇❣️ I don't know if they still make them or not; but, they used to make solar trough heaters. Ya'll stay warm down there 🥶 from your neighbor in Oklahoma 🦃The turkeys look like they had a great toasty night in the well house.
Snow day 😂 I had to dig out my front door, back door & car to start. Dug out my walks around the house, snow up to my knees & thank God we’re making it up in the teens today. Y’all’s animals are so lucky to be at the sanctuary & so well taken care of. I haven’t seen any children or even snowmobiles playing at all, unusual with snow this deep. Well y’all take care & stay warm. We’ll be getting the Texas snow storm Thursday, oh yea can’t wait 😜🥰
I hope everyone is staying warm. I love your videos and what you and your family do for your animal kids. My 3 dogs love watching too. My lab really enjoying the geese.
Snow in Texas is just a wonderful as when we get snow in Alabama. Brings the kid out of you! We pray for snow each year. Last year we got a dusting, we were thrilled!
I love how you guys are so caring for your animals. Please stay safe and warm. I understand that your not use to this cold weather and snow. I live in Michigan. It gets very cold here. We have snow on the ground.
Love the 'sleigh' ride with Maggie, she probably does wonder why the hec my paws are soooo cold!! Hope you can get that water for all the babies drinkable!! Praying for all in those freezing storms across the south, mideast states!🙏💗🐾
You embarrass too easy, Lester, and normally for no reason! I love what you did for Cornholio and Gloria. Perfect! I was worried about the pump house but glad to see you have the heat lamp running. I have no words of wisdom for the cold other than you’re doing great!! Stay warm and stay safe. Minnesota is sending as much heat vibes as we can, 😝
I am so blessed my provider took me home with her Sat as we knew it was on the way . Power went out Sat night back on Sun then back out Sunday for 5hrs 8 ins of snow power off again here we are We'd another 5ins of snow but thank God we have power now it can clear up anytime am keeping all in my prayers
After watching some other videos of the Texas farmers, I was so glad to come here and see that you guys did not have anything bad happen. I know all too well about snow and cold I'm from upstate New York but now live in Florida. Family still in Texas. Praying you and your family and your four-legged's make it through with no problems
I've been living in Minnesota for 12 years now and looking at and for (4 legged) footprints in the snow is one of my favorite things about these miserable winters. :)
Lester make sure they get a lots of water thru this cold water. Because up here in Michigan our animals eat a lot of more of hay and stuff which they need the water to flush it all thru their bodied. And with the water frozen got get out there 4-5 time days to break the ice in their bucket of waters. You doing a great job with the animals keeping them warm. Praying you get the warm weather soon. Take warm and safe. Glad you guys got electricity. My son in Tomball Texas haven't have electric for few days. We got 9 inches of snow yesterday and more coming tmw. I be glad to share it with you all. Lol God bless you all. ❤🙏❤
Great video Lester! Believe it or not, I live in northeastern PA, and my chickens stay in their coop, no heat lamp, all winter long. They’re amaZing birds, obviously they need unfrozen, fresh water, and hay for some insulation. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the farm in its wintery form ❄️ 🐎 oh and the new stalls look absolutely amazing!!!
That's cool that you are making the best of what you are having to deal with. Best times are on the fly, building good memories of your experience with snow. Glad to see that you all have power.
In Michigan to freezing in these 0 below weather. Have heat lamps on my chickens to keep them warm . Also making sure the birds and rabbits keep feed. Have a drift by the barn taller than me. Keep warm Pink
You know your welcome yo come to Wisconsin fir all the snow you want. Im not a fan. Too cold to much..but after snowblowing and shoveling... having hot chocolate ansd hot soups is awesome.
That's so cool you can have a once in a lifetime or 2 having snow when you don't usually get any but praying for all the people in Texas who have no power or water and all that lost their lives in that horrific crash on the interstate there. Just so sad. They show it on the news over and over on different stations just awful. Thinking of the loved one's that won't ever see them again. 😪 you are in my thoughts and prayers 🙏❤ but so glad Lester and Jami the babies held up well after all your hard work before it came and throughout the night you looked out for them they are cold but well today. Why we all love you so much you take such great care of your babies. Know you have to be exhausted but you still want to play in the snow while it's still there. 😁❤🥳🤣😂
I've only been a 'family member' of the sanctuary for a month or so. I've fallen in love with your family and the animals. I live in west Virginia. We had the worst ice storm of my life time the same time texas had its storm. I just relate so much to this video.
Thanks for letting us know that you are all well. We have been praying for you when we heard in the News about this special Cold at Texas and that many homes are without electricity. Kisses 👄👄👄👄to Petunia, Trudy, Peggy and (tiny) Tim Lester please wear gloves outside during this weather.🤗
This reminds me of the year it snowed here in Alabama and a bunch of us got the hood from an old Volkswagen and rode that thing being pulled by a 4wheeler!!! FUN! fun, fun! 🚙
