I was born and raised in Oak Cliff. It’s literally not that bad. There’s some parts that are a lil iffy but the ‘hoodest’ part of Dallas has always been and will always be “South Dallas”.
I’m a white boy from South Dallas, lived off of Strickland Ave, until I was a Freshman. I ran around, all over Oak Cliff and Duncanville. It wasn’t that wild.. JUST LIKE ANY CITY, there are areas you just don’t go, unless you have business there, or know people there. I mean shit went down, but shit goes down in every city in America.. Just gotta know where you’re at, and who’s around you, and you’ll be alright. I mean if you’re a dumbass and go fuck around with people who don’t know you, and you can get your wig split. BE SMART…

Cant forget where we came from. Im from the cliff. Only reason Im not sitting on those transformers now is because my folks found a way and sacrificed ALOT for the betterment of me AND my siblings. In certain areas you dont know what you dont know, but what you DO know is what “they”(folks not in the hood) know aint gonna fix whatever problems they got right NOW.

Its still nice. there are definitely some poorer areas but I don't see what's 'dangerous' outside of a few people hanging around gas stations wasting time. There are literally mansions being built up and down Hampton and it's never been safer. I came back after a decade away. These "dangerous" moments are occurring in apartment complexes in the poorest parts of town. Also Highland Hills isnt really Oak Cliff. Drive from one to the other and you will no doubt know you are in a different area by the time it takes and the age. Highland hills hasn't been improved for 30 years

Im born and raised in Oak Cliff. Literally born at Methodist dallas which is in oak cliff and raised in Oak Ciff. It is not bad. Some parts are a little rough but overall its pretty decent. We got Bishop arts, Trinity bridge, the fabrication yard and more. Even some places on Kiest arent bad......Highland Hills is by mesquite. Thats a 30 min drive from Oak Cliff. Sucks that Oak Cliff is portrayed as something its not...

Most of cliff is not bad. Most of Oak Cliff is literally middle class and upper middle class like Kessler Park. These low class ppl are a minority. Thank God.

It's harder to live lower middle class paying everything with no assistance vs living on government assistance,no job and having multiple kids. y mom used to stay in the Pinks bacc in the 70's and early 80's when Bishop College was there. We used to get into it with the Brown apts and the Green's which was by EZ's grocery. Also, Oak Cliff more than that map that used. It's basically five freeways( 35,30,20,45 &67) you can include Loop 12. I'm older and the late 80's and 90's was not pretty. Zoo Life, Ewing, Morrell, Illinois , Lancater , Kiest, Deer Path, Bonnie view , Denely, 8th street, Harlandale Cliffside

I was born at Methodist hospital in 1975 and raised right across from Big T which at the time was a VERY nice shopping area. My parents still live over there and I'm in Oak Cliff every Sunday.
I'm 38 and from Fort Worth, and yes, it's night and day between the two cities. My entire family is from Dallas on both sides. I had or have family that's from the Cliff who stayed on Overton..who was from the Cedarcrest area, Wood Town, Highlands and the Grove, who lived in The Pinks and Browns. Who played for Comets and Jets. Who graduated from Kimball, SOC, N. Dallas...hell my old man graduated from Velt back in 67/68. My big brother is class of 88 Kimbsll. My auntie was the manager of The Way Apts back in the 90s....so envision what the Cliff was like in the 90's. Some of my best childhood memories were during the summer when we would spend summers at my auntie on Overton. Dudes in the video appear to be level headed. They're talking their realities and I can get with that. If you go lookin for the shits the shits will find you.
