He was 20+ and she was 12. The abuse went on for years. It is not inappropriate sexual relationship. It was and is child molestation. He is a child molester.

What’s the most irritating is the way that it stated by him to make light of the situation. He engaged in inappropriate behavior with a young lady. No dude, you molested a kid. How different it would have sounded if he had been on the pulpit confessing it as it actually is than the white washed version of it.

The sad part about this, he told his members he went after "girls" who didn't have strong father figures or were vulnerable. He taught them how to do it by saying how he did it. So, he had to be lying when he said it was only one woman (a 12-year-old girl). It had to be more young girls he violated or abused because he said he went after "girls" not one girl.

We are called to forgive those who sin against us, we are never given permission to forgive CRIMES committed against innocent children. That’s for the law to handle. May justice prevail.

Who is paying for Gateway’s legal team? My tithes were not meant to support immoral behavior. This is on the elders who allowed Robert Morris to return to the pulpit, ignored Cindy’s accusations and swept it under the rug.

Statute of limitations should be lifted for child sexual abuse, nationwide.

Like the typical televangelist, it's always about the money. Since they have no real job, they have unlimited time to mess with and destroy others. Where are the Christian pastors who can honestly say these words: I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have shewed you all things, how that so laboring YOU OUGHT to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. - Paul the apostle to the church leaders, Acts 20:33ff. Notice that it is the leaders (elders) who were to do the supporting. Prosperity teachers, including this parasite, endlessly expect others to "support" them. Church, we must do better!

He should’ve been fired. The church should close.

I am leary of any church that allows an outgoing pastor to “appoint” his successor. They should form a pastor search committee, find a good interim pastor than can guide the church through that process (normally about a year), and then trust the process.

I’ve known some folks who say religious abuse needs to be handled by the church. They are wrong. Mark12:17- “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” If someone commits a heinous crime against a child, you do not stop at simply “fixing the issue” within the church. You are commanded by God to bring a dangerous criminal to justice, and make sure they serve their full sentence under the law. Too many “believers” forget that part of Jesus’ teachings when they make excuses for the monsters in their clergy.

He confessed of inappropriate 10 years ago, he should have stepped down 10 years ago. Psalms 118:8 “It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man.”

I pray he truly repents. I pray Cindy receives the justice she deserves. I pray for his children, their spouses, and their children - according to his son-in-law his daughter thought he had an affair, but she did not know he had molested a child. I pray for the people that attend Gateway. I pray for all involved.

I came to the Lord asking for his blessingsas a single mom because raising my son (Joel) was an act of courage despite all the challenges. And the Lord answered my prayers with a benefiting income of $31,000 every month. To God be the glory. Joel is in school and life's been fair lately.

Since when do Pastor's appoint their successor? Whether it be his son or not, shouldn't that be up to the people to call a pastor? A church is not ran by a monarchy.

Let’s not forget that it was Cindy’s dad that chose not to go to the authorities to have Robert arrested, but allow the pastor and the elders of the church judge the matter (1 Corinthians 6:1-2). Let’s also not forget that on October of 89, after the church’s pastor and elders had “judged” Robert, completed the restoration process and release him back into ministry, that now PASTOR Robert, for SEVEN months (something Cindy and her dad must’ve know) and his wife went to Cindy (now three months shy of her 20th birthday) and her dad’s home to ask for forgiveness. By ALL accounts Cindy and her dad forgave PASTOR Robert. Everything is possible, but it’s hard to believe that Cindy’s dad would grant Robert forgiveness if he was so much (according to Cindy) against him being back in ministry as a pastor. Of course he is now dead and has no say into Cindy’s allegations, now in 2024. So my question is, if she does not dispute that as an almost 20 year old “young lady” she and her dad forgave pastor Robert, what exactly, now at 54, is she after trying to crucify and destroy pastor Robert’s ministry and life because, supposedly, 16 years after “forgiving” him he would not give her fifty thousand dollars to help with the treatment for the damage that Robert supposedly inflicted on her?

Let He or She who has no sin cast the first stone. Morris knows in his heart wether or not he has truly repented. God knows all things, imparts righteousness and mercy. Let's pray for the victim and for Robert.

Nearly 70% of child sex offenders have between 1 and 9 victims…at least 20% have 10 to 40 victims. An average serial child molester may have as many as 400 victims in his lifetime. Mr. Morris did not repent. He got caught, lied about it and threatened Cindy of she spoke out. "For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death." 2 Corinthians 7:10

Remember that most times the "abuser" was once also the sexually abused child themselves. Just as Robert Morris unfortunately and sadly was. So now all we have here is one sexually abused victim trying to destroy another sexually abused victim as children. Churches need to learn how to vet their pastors better.

He went into counseling for two years And then return to his position? When will we simply obey God and what he tells us in his word? “… Overseers must be blameless…“ 1Tim 3:2. Overseers who are not blameless should be removed according to scripture. We desperately need leaders who are good examples so the rest of the Body sees it is possible, by God‘s grace, to walk in righteousness.

Having to hide my own devastation from childhood sexual abuse by my father and grandfather for many years, I am outraged at yet again another sexual predator. Justice and vengeance come from the LORD who has brought a lot of healing in my life. The perpetrators have been dead for over 30 years - It was JESUS CHRIST who healed me from the inside out! He is Jehovah Rapha, our God who heals 🙌🏼 In time, forgiveness has also set me free. Glory to God!!!

You can't survive as News organization without reversing this everyday? This resignation is over two weeks old. He was already on his way to retirement and in process already of handing over the Church he founded to new leadership. The accusation only made him expedite his plans of stepping down and the Lead - Pastor. He will likely still be Ministering in other capacities.

ANYONE can call themselves a pastor.

Forgiveness in Christ does NOT mean freedom from proper judgement. Admitting to / or getting caught in the act (four years) of the FELONY of child molestation in no way dismisses the need for civil punishment. "Retiring" from the pulpit is NOT civil justice. Apologizing is not civil justice. At a minimum, RM and all his family should lose all $$$ claims to GATEWAY, KINGS COLLEGE, future PUBLISHING, real and personal properties. Their empire has been built on a lie and they should be stopped from the continuation of ill gotten gain. Congregation members have a responsibility to withhold their money from the church until RM and his family are truly separated from ALL association with Gateway and their side hustles. $$$ is the true god that RM bends a knee to.

This is dumb, he repented of his sin back in the 80’s when this first came out and he stepped down and went through restoration and has been faithful in ministry for 35 years. ALL have sinned and fallen short of Gods glory.

I have the highest respect for my brother in Christ Robert Morris. He is a natural when it comes to being a pastor, his personality illuminates his love for God & humanity. I stand with Robert on this account. All people are human & make mistakes. It's beguiling as to why an individual would with hold making a dispute on this claim for ? 40 years. I pray that the truth prevails in this matter.

That lady looked like a liar but since he resigned so quickly he was obviously guilty and she was telling the truth.

House Bill 3809 now permits victims to file their civil sexual abuse lawsuit 30 years after their 18th birthday. The act became effective on September. 1, 2019. This means that victims have until they reach 48 years old to file their lawsuit. Victims now have much more time to file their lawsuits and hold their alleged abusers accountable.

Robert doesn't need people to give him money he has written several top sellers.

Sorry but being someone who's been sexually abused by I was 10 growing up she's not ever forgiven and GOD will deal with her. Gateway church is a different church not the church that is actually is at fault.

My question is why didn't the parents go to the police when they found out? He wouldn't be in the pulpit today had they filed charges. But then again during that time, her allegation may not have taken seriously and he would've got a slap on the wrist.

I was abused many years ago starting at 3 yrs old. It took many years for me to forgive and to move forward! This situation was brought to light with all parties when Cindy was 17…place all of this in Gods hands and deal with your own heart to be upright with God and before God!
