This would be the third tallest west of the Mississippi. After 1,070 foot Salesforce Tower in San Francisco and 1,100 foot Wilshire Grand in LA.

In the south, The Waterline would now be the 2nd tallest, just one foot shy of the B of A Plaza in Atlanta. Yikes!

@@adams8132well Austin had a mid-sized pretty skyline up until the 2000s. Frost Bank was the last great Austin tall building before the glasshouses came.

"improving connectivity, enhancing public amenities..." Sure sounds great but ultimately what else could they say? It's all just self-promotional PR. How many more automobiles will the building bring into downtown Austin? Those streets are not getting any wider, are they?

Hey, great! A giant, empty edifice to pointless, wealthy excess. As if there weren't enough giant, untenanted buildings downtown. Never mind all the homeless, and about-to-become homeless. Never mind the inadequate power grid. Never mind helping Small Business to get back on track. How much did Adler pocket from this waste?

I've seen enough projects like this to know where this is likely going. Some wealthy land owner starts building the largest building in X and then the economy shifts. Then you have this giant structure that sits empty and abandoned for several decades before the city is forced to tear down the eye sore.
