Dude i have learned so much about UV and painting.. in this one video than i have learned in the past 5000 videos i have watched.. thank you so much for the DOWN TO EARTH explanation for texture painting ..I LOVED IT AND WATCHED IT OVER AND OVER,, NOW 3 DAYS LATER I CAM SO GOOD AT UV UNWRAPING AND PAINTING .. THANKS A MILLION.
I do not say this lightly: your tutorials have blown every other tutorial I've watched before out of the water. Fun, simple, and to the point. Seriously, thank you.
So at 6:53 you place an extra loop cut to sharpen the shape, recently i found out you can actually press shift+e to alter the sharpness and it has been helping tremendously. Also doesn't leave extra vertices everywhere
Thanks for the tutorial. I model cakes (mainly wedding & birthday) for a number of bakeries who specialize in high end customized cakes. I've always had trouble with texturing painting "meringue swirls" when the chef lightly burns the edges & it gives that mottled effect between the white of the meringue & the tan, brown & black. Thanks to this tutorial I now have a really good starting point to achieve the effect i'm going for. Happy Easter, stay safe & keep on smiling.
I just came back from a trip to the mountains and mushroom seems like a perfect 3D object to paint now :D HAHA Thank you for the great tutorial, I love how you explain in detail every step, it was very helpful for me as a beginner.
Thank u so much!!! This was so fricking helpful- u explained it really well, so it was super easy to follow along with! Ur seriously underrated. Anyway, thanks! :)
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge man, and so clearly too. Randomly got an itch to dive into Blender a few weeks back and your stuff has been a tremendous help in getting a feel for everything! Can't wait to give this a shot on my first real finished/polished sculpt, haha.
Man I just wanna thank you and everyone like you out here teaching people all this essential info to strangers for free. This tutorial was great, thorough yet to the point. Y'all are doing god's work fr
Hola, Very good tutorial thank you! I have a problem with this at the exporting to fbx. I try to export the model, but the exported file contains only the texture, but not the bumping. Do you have any solution for this? Thank you!
Anybody know how to repeat last stroke on texture mode? Shift+R isn´t doing it for me (Blender 3.0). It would be sweet to be able to build up opacity strokes like that...
I knew all of this tools but I didn't know how to make something look nice. Thanks, this will help me a lot. I like this way of texturing.. is more "artistic".
Hi Ryan, I have a question. Would it be possible to texture paint multiple images onto one object? Say I wanted to texture paint bricks onto a wall as well as plaster (both being image textures). Maybe you could do a tutorial on this? Is it possible to have even more then 2?
Yes you can. In this video, I go over how to use the Stencil tool, to paint textures onto your mesh. You can just add two textures, and switch between them and paint them on the object.
Tomorrow i will receive my first drawing tablet and your video looks so complete, wow. Subscribed, thank u for sharing your knowledge, have a good day ❤
Public Service Announcement. New users please stay away from ANY AMD GPUs for content creation and specially blender. Besides the performance being terrible compared to NVIDIA, AMD does not even support features such as raytracing and will drop support for hardware whenever it feels like. Buy NVIDIA , besides their hardware being way faster, their software support is WAY better.
@@RyanKingArt At this point it's not about preferring NVIDIA.. There is no / limited support for AMD GPUs (Plus no raytracing ), they are as useful for rendering as potatoes !!
I'm not sure if anyone has suggestions. I am working on a new Macbook Pro and am having a heck of a time with the shortcut keys. The basic commands seem to work. I've changed my preferences in order to get numpad to work. But when I get into the "loop selection" I've spent the last hour searching online how to do this. As ALT RMB isn't an option for me. Does anyone know how I can change the settings? Or am I stuck clicking every single face...
Did you try Alt + Left Mouse button? I don't use Mac, so I don't know. You could make a post about it on the Blender Stack Exchange, and I'm sure someone on there can help you.
@@RyanKingArt Okay this was my bad. I had to go into the System Preferences and change the options for RMB on the system mouse settings. I was then able to get it working, thanks a bunch for your reply I appreciate it!
Hello brother! Thanks for the video it was very helpful. I have a problem with the texture paint. When I use the brush directly on the model, it paints on the back and not where I am applying the paint. I don't know if it is clear...
Thank u so much...this tutorial is gold... it was really easy to follow and every step was very clear to understand.... Great tutorial 🙂.. Thanks again
Sample model I practiced with: skfb.ly/6RCQp Poly-count: 14.4k "Diorama" (skfb.ly/6RCQp) by Pizca (sketchfab.com/pizca) is licensed under CC BY 4.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0)
Great Tutorial! Thanks a lot. But why not disable the PIP (Picture in Picture) to unhide whats behind you? I always wonder why Youotubers are so eager to show themselves. I would be more interested in seeing whats on your screen rather than the youtuber. Maybe thats just me?!
Thanks for the feedback. Although, I actually like seeing the person, when I'm watching tutorials, because I feel like I can connect with them better. So I guess its just a personal preference thing. : )
the pixels you were seeing were because your map for the normal generation was 8bit when it could have been 16 bit and then you would have had smooth gradients converted into the normal map. so when making normal maps from grey scale maps use 16bit depth to fix that stepping your seeing. the stepping in the look was because you only had 256 greys to use to make the normal map when you really want thousands of greys. after you can convert the normal map once made into 8bit again if you want to thats ok. but author the grey in 16bit.
Nice tutorial! A tip would be to talk about 1-4k in a separate video and let people watch that instead! :) No harm no foul! And math in the fields of unity could be another topic... Texture painting is nothing a pure beginner walks in to, they should know the "basics" if they end up here. Only a tip!
Hmm, Make sure you got all the Steps, Like UV unwrapping, Adding the texture into the material, and also make sure your in Texture painting mode, with the draw brush.
Hey Ryan, why are my image textures pixelated with an ugly blurry look when saving? Like say I'm using the Soften brush, when I save and open the project again the texture resolution seems to have dropped quite a bit and it's very stressing. I hope to get a response from you as I'm kinda new to Blender still when it comes to texturing and am confused about this!!
Great tutorial. As someone else in the comments mentioned your pace is enjoyable and I don't feel the urge to forward also as you edit out the repetitive stuff.🔥🔥👍
Blender Guru talked about texture masking with the RGB colors channels in his abandoned house video. Anybody here knows how to do that and can explain it to me? Awesome texture painting tutorial, btw :)
when i unwrapped my mushroom, the side and the top are linked together. Although I can link select them seperately, they move, scale, and rotate together. What am I doing wrong?
Great tutorial, finally figured out how to paint things. One question, how do you paint sculptures with very detailed mesh, the seam doesnt seem to work for me
Would anyone know why I cant use my brush? I can only use the fill tool to paint. Im still a baby at this... Anyway, thank you for this tutorial. Its really well explained and perfect for beginners.
Did you UV unwrap your mesh correctly on the texture? If its not UV unwrapped well, then it might not paint right. Also make sure the brush strength and size is big enough.
@@RyanKingArt So Im following a tutorial and the UVs look like theirs and my brush settings are all default. I must have done something with this specific file though because I started a fresh file and followed your steps with a cube and it worked. So I went back to my original file and deleted my material and image and followed your steps and the result was the same. I can fill with paint but not use my brush.
im painting the nails of my character and the nail color goes through to the other backside of the finger. how do you disable stroke affecting the backside of mesh?
What ever i want to learn i always come directly to Ryan King Art , really bro u are king of the art and explain in so much detail that every time i get a solution. I was really facing the problem of my texture painting not getting saved but heard exactly the same solution from you, but if u can pls explain how to save the texture file in computer becoz in your vid "Texture paint Your Sculpts...." I cud do my sculpture painting but cud not do mesh objects and was deleted automatically so pls show the procedure to save the texture file and thanks a Million for all the help bro. Also i tried to purchase the pad from from your links but as i am in India it shows delivery not available for this location. TQ for all the help again.
Hello Ryan, First of all, thanks for the tutorial, it's very well explained step-by-step. If have a question: After you save your texture/paint images, will Blender recognize the UV position if I import the same model into another project? And if I wanted to create the same model as an assset for Unreal Engien (for example), do I just need to export as an .fbx file so the UV unwrapping information stays in the model? Sorry if you find the question confusing, and Thanks in advance for the answer! Keep up the awesome work.
Yes, the UV mapping should transfer between software. I don't know for sure, because I don't use any other 3d software other then Blender, but I'm very sure the UV mapping data will transfer with the model.
I'm learning blender as an inexperience neewbie with no 3d background besides watching 3d animation. I brought this specific wacom tablet at best buy 3 years ago. I ready to learn a new skill!
Blender youtubers can be judged in 3 ways - are they artists? - do they know the technical stuff? - can they teach? In my opinion (as someone who's watched more blender tutorials and courses than anyone should, probably) you get top marks for all 3. (Oh, and the technical quality of your recordings and video production are always top notch, too.) Many Thanks for all that you give to the Blender community.
Yes you are right. Its pretty quick to set up. But this is a beginner tutorial so I wanted to go slowly and explain all of the steps so that the viewers understand why were doing each step.
hi, I have a question: If I need to color hair in different colors, for example , A leopard surface or something what, I have to paint the basic project for first with colors I want and then have to apply the hair? Or can I directly color the hair?
Hmm ok. I think there is a way to make the hair be the color of the texture that its coming out of. So if you can get that to work, then just texture paint the leopards stripes, and then add the particle system.
@@RyanKingArt thanks ryan, what if I need to apply particles on two subjects ? Same hair, same color, but on two elements, Imagine that I have two separated subjects in the same project
@@RyanKingArt How can I paint the subject? I know the way to color base of it, but I don't know how to paint the stripes, or something like that, Can you write the function I have to follow please?
mate so useful and nicely explained, the length of the video pushed me out a bit before watching, but after watching it is defo the best!! better 1 long and good video than search tons of diferent ones! thanks a lot!
I am currently at the part right after you added the sub modifier and shaded smooth...Do you know why my object might be far less shiny than yours is currently? (I mean there's a bit of shine but yours looks like a glossy paint job compared to the small bit of shine I have, Ctrl 2 didn't work for me btw) I'm currently in version 2.90.1. Hmm also do you recommend upgrading to a higher version or not?
Hmm, maybe turn the roughness value down. Also, you could turn the specular value up. Also, if your lighting is different then mine, then it might look different.
Excuse me Ryan, I've step by step following you until 43:04.I got the same hdri but i doesn't get the bright light on the mushroom, and I watch this moment you didn't have any light object on the scene. Could you teach me how to get the right setting?(sorry I'm not native English, wish you can understand what I'm saying.)
@@RyanKingArt Thanks for reply Ryan :D, I've check the rendering engine, it's same as Cycles. but after lighting in the end. The issue seems not the most important things XD.Really thank you again! I'll subscribe you and check the other blender 3D tutorial.
