In this fourth and final installment of this demonstration, Laurie shows how she refines the texturing on the Mallard Drake head, addresses grain lines, and how to avoid and eliminate them in tupelo carvings. Laurie also talks about the importance of using the "live bird" as reference, in photos, videos, and in the field, over artist renditions like paintings and carvings. Laurie also shares insight on using Google Images and talks about how to find reference photos, for use in seeing the finer details in birds which do not show up in low resolution images of the live bird. The place to find these aluminum oxide 1/16" (also called Friction Grip or FG) is with a dental supplier. You may need to have your dentist order them in.
