TekRobo I doubt it was intended, I see it more as a coincidence of two mechanics within the engine (base jumper gliding and the fact that taking damage actually knocks you up a bit). Kinda similiar to how you can fly with the scout by equipping boston basher and continuosly melee attacking.

@@ipd0043 I get exactly what you mean. There are certain videos, especially on STAR's side, that might have inverse effects so be careful which ones you watch. I went through an unlisted/late STAR_ videos today and there's only regret.

Not an error, but an intentional design of the weapon and the physics engine. Similar to how if you hit yourself with the Boston Basher the bleed damage can make you go higher.

The reason the Axtinguisher got nerfed was because it took 0 effort to light somebody on fire and than Melee them. Market Gardening takes a lot of skill and effort to land it. And if you're using the Base Jumper, you're not using a Secondary weapon, which limits your attacking options, especially if you use the Rocket Jumper. Meaning no; the Market Gardener is balanced. Besides, if you badly want to shut them down. Build a mini-sentry, or go Direct Hit/Reserve Shooter Soldier and shoot them out of the Sky.

TheShadowlord90 Building mini sentries to counter a soldier doing his thing is the most evil thing I can imagine.

If you're on a low-gravity server with the parachute and the Rocket Jumper you can pogo with the chute deployed at all times to never ever have to touch the ground. Think of it as playing Just Cause 2.

I agree but that is cheating (If we are talking about jump maps). Also pogoing is pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

A nerf to a weapon that cuts your momentum to a fraction of its former self and paints a target on you for Snipers, Direct Hits, Pyros, Reserve Shooters, and just about any hitscan weapon actually? Nah, it's just a fun gimmick weapon, so leave it be.

I don't think it's OP. I actualyl don't even think it's even a good secondary, I actually think it's kind of bad in most cases.

Its such a gimmicky and terribly ineffective in the long run way to play, though. Just because Star does it doesn't mean its going to be /common/.

TekRobo I was playing lakeside and at anytime you looked up there was at least 2 soldiers trying to market garden the other. Each team had 3-6 soldiers all using the BASE + Shovel combo. Definitely common.

SkyAnt Budder That's because the Caber is a one hit kill. In terms of skill, random occuring crits are one thing; but the base damage of a weapon should not be high enough to one shot 7/9 classes.

So it looks like I might be the only person who thinks the caber ISN'T overpowered. You can easily see a caber. Stick with a big green thing on it. You know that he's gonna try and melee you with it. Even if he does kill you with it, he's gonna be damaged enough afterwards and possibly launched into the air and take some fall damage, so he won't survive all that long. You only get one caber per life unless you constantly run back to the resupply. Annoying? Yea, just like dying to ANYTHING is annoying. But not OP, in my opinion. Really I don't think much in TF2 is OP as of right now, except possibly how a demo knight can share at you, crib kill you, then instantly charge someone else, do it again, and again.. yea. And maybe a few obvious OP things that i'm forgetting, but not the caber.

In TF2 when you burn or bleed you get slightly pushed upwards every second. That's how he never falls down. I don't think Valve intended for this to happen and will probably fix it in a couple days.

Remember the GRU when it gave Heavy periodic damage as a penalty? It helped Heavy jump up places where normal heavies could not. Same thing here. Also John Lopez the fire does not act like a hot air balloon, we don't have that mechanic in the game.

Because reducing the soldier to a melee only class that has to be good at rocket jumping before even coming close to the stuff ster did in this video is apparently a nightmare for everyone. A nightmare if you don't like getting free direct hit/sniper rifle/reserve shooter kills maybe. Also, soldier isn't the most "OP" class. Its a power class with a lot of options, but the default demo man is still the champion of killing everyone. This is why you see soldier given the same priority as scout in 6v6, and demo being limited to only one per team.

***** Its probably because the parachute is weird in that the air strafing is slightly off. Pressing W with it will actually make you move forward slightly, and you don't technically need to look where you want to turn (although it will still make the turn tighter). The main thing with the parachute is to try not to fall into the rut of using it constantly while in the air, since you will eventually unlearn how to air strafe properly. Its still good for teaching new players the basics without them cratering constantly, but a reduced gravity server is still the better option for air strafing basics.

Robin Parmentier I was talking about the take off. Strafing is easy. I grew up on surf servers. When using the BASE Jumper, you don't need to have your take off be really good or anything. You can always parachute if your jump was bad. It just encourages faster, less though out jumps. And once you get used to it, you're gonna be jumping like a brick without the parachute.

yes. You can simply trade for a new Jumper. The Base Jumper though is more expensive right now.

yes kill robots get ur clip maxed out rocket jump pop crits and u have realy rapid crockets so much u literaly make a straifing run with crokets

in mvm u can get a lot more when u upgrade the rocket launchers clip I was in a game were I had 95 rockets in a clip
