What Louis would do at a movie theater was ridiculous. Who would want to go to a movie theater and do that. He would see bits and pieces of a bunch of movies but at the end of the night he really wouldn't have seen anything. Louis Malle was considered an uneven director. His career was full of extreme highs and extreme lows. He would direct a great movie and then direct a terrible movie. His entire career went back and forth like that. From listening to this interview with Candice it makes sense now why his work was like that. Even though he was full of ideas and insight, he didn't have the focus and vision to be a really consistent film director.
So essentially your criticism is that half of his movies are great and half are bad. Are there many directors out there that made only good movies their entire career? And by the way, Malle wasn't "unfocused" in his productions. He barely made a film a year, which is pretty normal for European standards.
@@dimitrisb5089 No there is no director who makes a great movie every single time. But the thing with Malle was he would make incredible movies like Atlantic City, Murmur of the Heart and The Fire Within, but then he would make movies like Crackers and Viva Maria. That kind of drop in quality is very unusual in someone capable of great work. But it seems like he was all over the place so of course his movies would be like that.
He was restless before he met her-so was Candice-she also was a Jack of all trades master of none when she was young-so yeah these two were a perfect fit-they were made for each other @@joeb267382
