You're the first person I've seen review the series 2. I picked up a series 1 on clearance and was curious to see the difference between the two. Damn nice stick. The 3 piece sounds really interesting. Look forward to seeing it.
Man it’s really hard to beat there original ones. I won’t ever get rid of the 7 I have but I have to say there is definitely a difference in the 2s and they are very very nice. I picked up two extra of the old model when they went on clearance everywhere just in case I didn’t like the new version and am glad I did just to have them but I’ll definitely be using the new version exclusively from here on out because they just feel like a $500 rod but for a bit over a third of the price. I’ll still break out my old ones from time to time though for sure. Some of my old ones I still can’t believe work just as good as the day I bought them and have caught way over 1,000 fish on them and mostly largemouth and smallmouth. Tfo just makes very excellent stuff. I can’t wait to fish the 3 piece on the creek for some gills and smallies but right now we’re in a 100+ heat dome so it may be a couple weeks. The three piece was and is the one I’ve been most excited about fishing. I ordered the three piece the day they released them and felt it and had to order the ones in this video. You definitely did good by picking the version 1 up on clearance. For the price places we’re selling them it was too hard to pass up for me too. This fall is going to be awesome. I got to scout a lot last spring in my X3 and find a few holes that nobody has properly fished in the last 30 years way in the mountains. Thanks for watching bud.
Thanks for the review, I saw these on the site and was hoping to find some reviews. I'm currently using a Defy 7 ft 2 pc and was wanting to upgrade to a 1 pc. This looks like it might be perfect for the crappie fishing I do
Man they are so great. I caught a 3 pound largemouth this past week with in Georgia and it handled it with ease. I caught a 6lb yesterday on the light. They are great. Thanks for watching bud.
Thanks bud. I appreciate that. I’ve fished the old versions for years now and love them. Wouldn’t ever get rid of them but these series 2 just feel better where the version ones lack. In my opinion. Thanks for watching man.
@@DrDitchpickle man I’ve heard they are excellent. I may have to pick one up at some point. I love all ultralights. It’s kind of a sickness for me. 😆 I have from $20- Shakespeare micro-finesse rods from Walmart to g- loomis GLX ultralight and light trout and panfish rods. My wife just laughs. Thank goodness. But for all around it’s just hard to beat a good TFO for me. I was actually going to order a sierra and then the next day tfo released there 2s. I still plan on it at some point though.
I just purchased the 6' model, and it is now my go to ultralite. It balances perfectly when paired with the Shimano Vanford 1000. Its perfect for tiny treble baits, but still stiff enough for jigs. Its the perfect ultralite in my opinion.
I have the 6’ tps II with a vanford too, and it’s amazing. Also have the tps 6’ with a cheaper, Shimano, Sedona also great little on the heavy side but still 🤑
@@Mikesmitty187 heck yah man. They are awesome. The vanford balances perfect on the 6’ and 6’6” in my opinion. I picked up a 1000 shimano miravel and have been pretty impressed by it lately. I haven’t tried the Sedona. They just make excellent quality stuff.
In all honesty me too man. As soon as these 100+ days are over I’m taking it up the creek for a good review. Looks like the next 12 days are 104+ with 110+ heat index. Not much fish bite during this weather around here. Hopefully in a couple weeks it’ll go away for a bit.
Just found out they were even making a 2nd version today. Did the 7ft feel too whippy? I have the 6’6 UL version 1 but have been interested in the longer one.
It’s not as whippy as the original. Still a bit. The 6’6” on the original and the 2nd version has been my favorite over the past several years. The seven in the version 2 is still a bit whippy but I kind of like that the way I fish. Especially for an ultralight.
@@TheTravelingFisherman1000 is perfect. The only reason I go with 2000 vanfords sometimes is they are the same weight as the 1000 vanford but hold more line. They both have the same gearing and drag. The spool size is the only difference.
@@TheTravelingFisherman you will love the 6’6” dries 2 man. It’s my favorite length. I use mostly 2000 series shimano vanfords but picked up a 1000 shimano miravel a few weeks ago and honestly for an ultralight I highly suggest it. I think you get the most bang for the buck on the miravel. Light, excellent drag, smooth, and durable is mainly what I look at. It has them all and then some. Plus it looks really good. Hope this helps. Any questions man just ask away bud. Let me know what you decide on.
I just ordered the 6’6” ultralight. Should I go with a 1000 size or 2000. Vanford. I’m looking for the perfect feel & balance. Don’t want it to look too big if I get the 2000 or too small if I go with 1000. What do you recommend? Thanks 👍
Heck yah man. You’re going to love it. I always go with the 2000 vanford. It’s the same size and weight as the 1000 but the spool depth allows for more line capacity. Same drag too. I like the extra line capacity in case I hook something that likes to run the drag. I hope this helps bud.
@@mitchgarcia4591 man I’ll be honest. I’m not sure. I just spool it until it’s two line lengths in width still in the black before it hits the bevel on the spool.
😂. Yah man you’ll love it. Man that video you uploaded today that pond was loaded with gills. That was awesome. I wish I could have seen that big snapper eat that bluegill you tossed back in. I bet that was wild.
Lol. Yeah he ate a couple in one bite! I need a polarized filter for my camera. I think that would've captured it. I was hoping to get him ashore on the dangle feeding but that 6lb test wouldn't hold
Yah the 1.5 was too. From what I understand it was during the Covid shortage. All other rod’s including fly rods are still made in South Korea. Headquarters is still in Texas.
