Fun fact Clint Bajakian after lucasarts went on to work with naughty dog, he composed Uncharted golden abyss on vita and worked with other composers on the trilogy, he is head of music and music tech at Sony game studios. His most recent work was on Return to monkey island. Lucasarts was in my top 5 developers from the Amiga days to the pcs golden age in the 90s.
Thank you for bringing back this fantastic music where today's Star Wars lovers can experience it. Back when I played the original Collector's Edition I'd fly around after finishing a mission just to listen to the victory themes. Then I'd visit the Tech Room, not because I needed info about the ships, but just to enjoy that theme again. The whole soundtrack felt so cohesively part of the Empire from the movies that even those primitive PC graphics felt completely immersive.
I just learned about TFCT and that there is a remastered soundtrack! OMG! Thank you so much! I loved the music as much as the game. Without it it wasn't the same. I still love listening to it without the game. It is one of the few good examples where they composed new music based on the original score instead of only using the movie score (which totally not fitted such as in XvT). And not many games supported music changes depending on ingame events as much as Tie Fighter. I am SO glad that the remake received the original music pieces instead of just the usual movie Orchestra and kept the imuse system! Well done!
I've always loved the original TF-soundtrack. One of the first and for a long time only Star Wars games to really have original music, only recently to be picked up by the likes of Jedi Fallen Order and Squadrons. Imagine having it played by a real full orchstra, though. That should be the next project. We should found the "Classic Gaming Enthousiasts Orchestra". I volunteer to play one of the violins.
In around that era Shadows of the Empire (the multimedia project at large) had a standalone orchestral soundtrack by Joel McNeely, which had one or two tracks partially included in the video game. Dark Forces had its own, but I don’t remember it as strongly as TIE Fighter. And Rouge Squadron on N64 had an original soundtrack, dynamic to some extent as well. But yes, I think TIE Fighter did it first to this extent and in many ways, probably the best.
Tie Fighter and Dark Forces also had original music by Clint Bajakian but yeah, then it was a long while with just edited John Williams soundtracks. Bajakian got to do original orchestral music for Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb, and there was original music by Mark Griskey in the KOTOR and Force Unleashed games.
The composer of the music for Wing Commander III did a successful Kickstarter to fund an orchestral recording. I would back the hell out of such a project for this music!
It really is superb to hear the extra depth which I bet the composers could hear in their minds in the 1990s. And now here it is full and complete with all the stuff buried in the game files. Hats off.
Well done to Lawnie and everyone involved, having the cd audio version of imuse working with this game is incredible it really helps sell it when ships arrive and battles change. The sound blaster 16 version of victory has been an ear worm in my head since the 90s which shows how many hours I poured into this on release.
Would love to have the rebel arrival or empire arrival as notification tones... Those sounds have stuck with me since playing the original tie fighter back in the 1990s, great work on the game absolutely mind blown

X-Wing, yes. XvT, not so much. No single player and for multiplayer there are better options out there. Never cared much for XvT even when it came out, tbh.
@abaezarojano Hi, I just checked the link and it seems to be functioning ok for me and people are still joining the server in a steady stream so I'm not sure what might be wrong for you here. I'd suggest some googling to see if there's some kind of common issue regarding this.
It's arleady been done with Xwing! Look for Xwing Virtual Machine. Also, look for the awesome soundtrack redone by Laserschwert in SoundCloud. Absolutely fantastic.
The sound track remake is masterfully done! Done by getoffmylawn correct? The grip I have with it is that it doesn't flow the greatest at times, but this isn't the fault of the mod, but X-wing alliance itself. For example, "inflight victory", you'll never to get hear it all in game, it'll cut off around 15-20 seconds in and goes back to "inflight wait state". So the only way to hear the entire score is here on RU-vid, which is a shame, but again, I don't think there's anything that can be done about it as it's an x-wing alliance issue. Overall, all I can say is, thank you to everyone involved with this and all your hard work, we don't deserve this masterpiece for free, but we got it anyway. I wish I heard about it sooner and was able to help out or participate somehow.

Hahaha yeah, the Missile Boat was super OP, especially when you just reload and have target lock on a capital ship and just fire heavy rockets whilst being reloaded.
I'd be good with that, but I vote for 16:32 Simulator Room... still has recognizable elements of the Imperial March, but jazzes it up in a classy way, haha.

I love this remastered sound-track... brings back so many memories and yet elevates the original music to a higher level. One critique from a muscian's pov, I wish some of the background instruments hythm elements were more straight forward, like the piano\guitar... I feel like it gets covered up regularly by the glorious brass and strings. Overall, I give it a 9.5 out of 10!
I've been really enjoying this game. The remaster is a great achievement from a varied team of enthusiasts working together for *such* a long time. I had to turn collisions off and set the difficulty to 'easy', and even then I had to skip mission 2, but that's OK. THANK YOU to everyone who made this possible and congrats all.
@@ange1uk no, thank YOU. I don't understand what's going on beneath the hood, but the car is beautiful. I love the attention to detail (for instance, the emails in your quarters) Here' some criticism: During the missions, the spoken instructions are quite quiet, and I can't work out how to turn them up. I preferred the original game briefing room. Also, and I know this is a symptom of the original game not including voices, at all, but the spoken briefings are too long and repeat too much of what is stated in the visual briefings. I love the Tarkin-like way he rolls his 'r's and the briefings officer serves his purpose, but I preferred the 90's guy. Maybe he could just occasionally sound a bit ruthless and evil? Also the voices in the briefings/debriefings are a tad too loud, even when I turn them to minimum volume.
@@CBfrmcardiff Hi, glad you're enjoying it :) Bear in mind that TFTC Reimagined is all new voiceovers but TFTC Classic has all the original voiceovers and audio. As for the briefings, its more a case that the spoken briefings give more context to the overall story while the map briefing is more specific. Audio wise, you can adjust most of this in the ESC menu though the briefing voices for some unknown reason seem largely unaffected by this.
