Thai Airways is definitely coming back fighting with their Business Class on the newer Boeing 787s! I think their older aircraft might be a little dated for now, but I'm sure they'll be investing in them once they begin to crawl back capital.
Can you imagine if they'd reinstated the 747s or A380s after covid? 😏 There would be of course us av-geeks who love it but yes agreed the products were a bit out dated. Might try and get on their 777 in the future. Would you consider going to Asia? It's wide body heaven!
How so? This has intruged us. We are going to may be try one of Latams ex A350s next year that ended up with Thai. It has a 2:2:2 configuration. The product on the 787 is far more private though.
I've never managed to get into Business with Thai, but they have twice provided me with the sort of customer service that wins loyalty. The first was when my new mother-in-law died suddenly just before I was due to fly back to the UK. A visit to their local office and explaining the situation resulted in a *FREE* change of flight to allow me to stay for the entire funeral process and (something I hadn't even thought about) a visa extension processed and added to my passport. The second was a few years later, when I misread my ticket and turned up at Chiang Mai airport 12 hours late. They had me on a flight half an hour later, and back in London less than an hour after I should have arrived. That cost me all of £38. Which was a bargain, seeing as the next available seat was in another 2 weeks . . . Also, if you have any smattering of Thai at all, the crew do seem to appreciate you making an effort to speak their language 🙂
Thanks for sharing 👍 That is impressive! These kind of situations really define an airline. I can think of one that didn't care when we couldn't go via India because they dropped the evisa. They only refunded it because it was avios but still charged a fee 😔 Singapore Airlines on the other hand as a one of gesture of goodwill refunded us the full amount.
Great review, I've booked to fly with Thai Business Class in April next year flying out of Heathrow on their redeye so it will be interesting to comapre the 777 experience with the 787. If you don't me asking but what set-up/equipement do you use to record your vlog's as I want to record my trip experience to Thailand especially as I have also booked a room at the Panviman Chiang Mai Spa Resort just outside Chiang Mai. I would be grateful for your input.
Really happy for you. I would be happy to try the 777 but noticed it's the same as Iberia. The service will be really good though. Did you manage to get a window seat? Not at all, happy to share. I was using a Note 20 Ultra until before that trip but the 1x zoom worked occasionally. Changed to a S23 Ultra.... Hell of a difference in picture quality! Especially at night Will you post photos or videos of your stay anywhere? Would love to see the hotel 😊
Yes, I've booked a window seat on the left hand of the front cabin right up close to the window. I've been thinking of creating a vlog account for some time now and I will probably do this before March of 2024 as I have a Texas trip planned with United on their triple 7 so it will be interesting to compare the Polaris with the Royal Silk. Whatever I decide though I will be posting videos and photos of the upcoming trips.@@liftoffandtravel
@@borderreiver9766 we look forward to it! Never too late to start and if you enjoy it go for it. Hard work though so you need to love what you do. Unless it's just for fun.
I flew them economy on a 772 to DPS in May, pretty good ! Exit row seat and al. Not cheap but solid hard and soft product, score it just about a 4 out of 5 .
The issue with Thais and and Thai Airways is they service difference to Thai National🎉vs Westerners. It’s been known for decades that Thai Air crew tends treat westerners better than nationals
This is a very interesting point! I was in discussion with a fellow friend/ aviation enthusiast and he mentioned the same thing. I could be wrong here but it's because there is a pre-conception that westerners have more money and therefore might tip. I think we know which country isn't helping with that. We also used to watch a blogger who is from the Philippines and it was sad to hear that when he was just enjoying the hotel in Dubai people were mistaking him for hotel staff 🙄
Not true! I am Thai and I always got the best services from Thai crews on Thai airways especially from the older crews they’re the most friendliest and hospitable.
Not true! I am Thai and I always got the best services from Thai crews on Thai airways especially from the older crews they’re the most friendliest and hospitable. We’re Thai and we know some Thai just wanted to get lots of attention and naivety on Thai Airways (because before Thai Airways prices more expensive than Middle East’s airlines and they expected Thai Airways to be better in everything and complain in everything but nowadays Thai Airways tickets tends to be a lot cheaper than Middle East’s airlines based on departing from Thailand) I’ve been a member for over 15 years and they never disappointed me ever once. Of course I agreed their products still far away to be competitive with other airlines but their service always top notch.
@@ZENORITAGRACE Experiences can always vary depending on the crew you have had. I've been judged before because of my age and I'm sure the majority of crew are exceptional. Sadly there will always be someone we just don't gel with. Luckily never witnessed this kind of experience but I have been judged because of my age.
Thanks Coy, agreed. Could be the worst airline in the world but if they smile, friendly and welcome me onboard makes such a difference. Luckily Thai was good on both fronts 🍲😁
I would absolutely consider Thai Airways. Flown with them before and loved this airline, but when the pandemic hit, they stopped flying to Johannesburg. Waiting for THA to resume flights to South Africa.
They stopped flying the Johannesburg route around 2015, as they've been struggling financially for many years, as you also indicated. This year they hinted at reintroducing flights to SAfrica. For now, that route must be serviced by SQ or CX.
