Wow, thanks for the video, my girlfriend and I are coming to hong kong in December and have booked into the langham for 3 nights, with breakfast, it looks amazing
@@heisenberg1271 very jealous as its one of favourite hotels. Nice mix between modern and old school. We sadly have never had breakfast there, may be you can let us know what you think? 🍳
I got to admit, as an Iron Maiden fan (and Rock/Metal fan in general) I would love to bag a Room 666! Overall a very nice hotel and thanks for sharing this hotel experience!
@@liftoffandtravel Yes, funny story there, I got it in Budapest at the Aeropark in 2022 and on my way back through airport security at Budapest Airport- my bag was pulled as they found a "sharp object", after a search of my bag which turned up nothing- they found out it was a long metal file inside the model of the Ed Force One Boeing 747 model which formed part of the structure... How ironic that I was pulled over in an Airport over an Airplane Model!
Thanks for watching Jimmy, certainly a wonderful way to start the trip. Sadly yes no freebies but I don't have status with Hyatt. Did get a wonderful colourful pen that was a nice touch.
@@liftoffandtravel likewise....ur handsome man too! hello from Kuala Lumpur...guessed u've been here based on ur previous videos. hope u both had a good visit of KL
@@TheEdmal25 Thank you 😊 Malaysia 🇲🇾 is one of best trips ever. Visited Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Penang. Would you recommend anywhere else? We are more city people but loved being the middle of nowhere in Langkawi 🌲
@@liftoffandtravel oh there's aplenty more to visit haha. Malacca a historical town. About 2 hours from KL city. There's East Coast. states (Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan) where its a little laid back with beautiful islands and beaches ie Perhentian Island, Redang Island and Tioman Island all in the South China Sea. Other than the beaches u could also try experience in the Tropical Rainforest (guided) in Taman Negara (National Park). There's full board chalets with activities for u to lodge and experience the tropical outdoors
@@TheEdmal25 we typically get 10 days at most in a country because of connecting flights etc. How long would it take to visit Prthebtian or the rainforest? We are revisiting Langkawi next year but the North side for a change. Not sure if I can get Brent to walk up the bridge with the hands. He's not a fan of heights.
I'm confused?!! Did you buy your ticket through Cathy then but had a code share with AA which is why you could use their lounge? I've just booked with BA but the flight is 1st Class on AA. As a gold card holder does that mean I could use the Cathy lounge? Thanks
@@petermcgrath7887 my ticket was booked with British Airways onboard the A380 and then the flight was rescheduled. So I opted for American. As Americans is a One world Airline you should be able to use the Cathay lounge either way 👍
Also, you can't hear your audio until you unplug the dang thing. Otherwise , your phone thinks the mic is a headphone!? Took me all morning to figure that out. Wonder what the work around is, because that really slows down the quick checks of levels and such.
To be honest the device is a bit of a nightmare. Probably should have just returned it. I rarely use it for what I do. Just wanted to get it to work having bought it. The other question you ought have fixed if the background noise is loud say a train or plane I'm no sure how to adjust it so I can be heard.
By now, you're aware that this is a different airline, an LCC that isn't a full-service airline; it's not Air India. So I'm not sure why the video title still mentions Air India and hasn't been updated to Air India Express. 🤷♂ My reason for mentioning this isn't to criticize your review/trip report. It would simply save you the headache of encountering more comments telling you the same. Hope that next time you return to India, you travel on Air India's own aircraft. To make it more interesting, you could choose the A320neos with the new regional interiors. Cheers! :)
Thanks, appreciated. Currently away so unabke to change it. Will Definately come back in the future and try the legacy carrier and hopefully their new shiny A350s 😍✈️
Small correction: Condor is not part of the Lufthansa Group. It was formerly owned by Thomas Cook, which went bankrupt, and is not to be confused with the Lufthansa Group's leisure airline Discover, which also has a blue and yellow striped livery. Condor's livery is very distinctive and has been a source of much controversy, and excellent marketing for its new brand redesign starting 2022.
Thank you, yes a few people have mentioned this. Clearly I was the last one to know 😂 Totally agree, I have heard a few not many moan about the livery but I think it's brilliant especially as they decided to go with so many colours. Truely iconic! 💛💙❤️💚🖤
@@liftoffandtravel But it's an easy mistake to make. After all, Condor was a LH subsidiary for decades. The Lufthansa Group only sold it's last Condor shares in 2009.
@@olfrygt Thanks, I'm not even sure how I missed news articles stating it. Then again it wasn't until June this year that I realised GOL had applied for bankruptcy.
Good luck with the seat pitch - it likely won't change. Air India Express will be your standard bargain basement airline with not a lot of amenities. Full service Air India will be a bit better but their seat pitch in economy is likely to be rubbish as well (based on Vistara's seat experience). I just hope they sort out their long haul planes sooner rather than later. Domestic flights are pretty short and any decent seat will be good enough.
Great points, one can hope but as you say it's a low cost carrier so every inch counts. It's a shame we didn't get to try Air Indias actual short haul service. May be in a few years we'll visit again.
@@liftoffandtravel flight is at the end of August, but at least in seating pre-reservation it showed the 2-2-2 seating arrangement, I do get to enjoy the 1-2-1 with an A350-1000 from Frankfurt to HKG though 😂
@@DonRaynor I think people panic with 2:2:2 because they have to share with a stranger but for such a short flight you'll have taken off, been fed and landing before you know it. Oh wow, been a long time. Hopefully the will have the burger as a mid flight snack when you go. Could enjoy their signature drink at the same time 😊
@@liftoffandtravel Honestly. Wouldn't mind having a Taipei Local next to me. I'm moving there for a year, I'd have so many questions and things I'd want to learn, They'd want to escape the plane before it lands.
@@DonRaynor not sure what your interests are but there is a very pretty village to the north of Taipei, lights, gift shops and fresh fish stalls. You could try a very unusual blunt knife massage, which will leave you sore 😂 And if you like your cats there is a cat village 30 minutes away. My friend who was there for 6 months also explore the south and the countryside. Either way sounds exciting 🌍
Thanks for another great video. So idk if you or anyone else watching will be able to answer this, but I can't seem to get one from the Indian embassy in NY or Air India. Can an American citizen transit through India regardless of Country of birth? Thanks in advance!
Thanks for watching 👀📺 it was a nice easy flight with a few surprises. I suspect although can't guarantee that you need a visa in order to transit in India. We had this issue before but it was separate flights with one night in between at a local hotel. Try reaching out to Air India on twitter? May be you could email or call the local Indian Embassy?
Norse works best for the traveler who wants to travel internationally on short notice. If you have a long time to plan (like many vacation travelers who would fit this model) then you can get premium economy once you add in luggage and seat fares which are not included in the base price within $150 of premium economy on Norse. I like the concept and the airline, but I am not sure this works for the long term (Norwegian Air base). At the end of the second quarter Norse lost $35 million. For the first half of 2023 they have lost $105 million. They have $59.1 million of cash on hand and expect to make a small profit in the third quarter, the strongest of the year. Not sure if they make it until next year as they raised only $14 million in an offering in the last quarter.
That's a great point about short notice. Interestingly whilst in Budapest I checked the flight for the next day back home and was surprised to see it was still £52 ($70) The hotel was full so would have expected the price to be jacked up high. I really hope they continue to fly because they are a sound airline ✈️
Is that in addition to another bag? I took only a rucksack and that was fine but also checked in a suite case. However I have status. If you type in to Google Qatar carry on baggage you might be able to find the specific sizes
Thank you, that really made our day 👍 we don't see the point in dragging these out unless it's relevant. Be sure to also look at the Sheraton which shares a pool with the Hilton. Plenty of shops, barber, restaurants and 7 Eleven and it's an easy walk from Terminal 3!
@10:35 AKG are one of the most renowned acoustics & studio equipment manufacturers in the world... ;-) @10:57 "reesling", not "riceling"... @11:06 romanesco, a type of cauliflower
@@liftoffandtravel The brand mostly produces studio equipment (microphones, headphones, ...) geared towards professional use. But since they were acquired by Harman in 1994 (which later became a subsidiary of Samsung) they also began producing for a broader consumer market (i.e. at lower price points). For details just go to Wikipedia :-)
During Corona the Iberia wasn't good starting from food and they also didn't handle criticism very well, even though they agreed that it was very meager what the business class had to offer. I wrote them an email that for 1k € I will happily bring my food and water and they can give the rubbish food to the colombian sewer rodents after landing. Bwahhaaa. If the price is right I wont complain about a single thing.
Latam really did a great job with their refurbishment of cabins, the bulkhead window seats are the best and have the most space. Their mattress pads are better than BA's. The Latam crew is also consistently joyful as you put it, but they are also consistently slow with meal service. Every single Latam flights I've been on, the one-tray dinner service always takes about 2 hours even for a short 6-hr redeye. The food is just ok, so maybe not really worth staying up for if you had food at their lounges.
Thanks 👍 yes it is a beautiful product just a shame it's only the 777s. It's interesting you say they are slow perhaps that's the style. In London you are often rushed in and out of the table at a restaurant because the next table brings more profit but in Hungary for example the service is slow because the table is considered yours for the evening. Interesting I raised this before in an aviation group that BA on their A350 took 3hrs+ from Sao Paulo and I was sitting in the middle of Business. Next time I fly them I'll keep an eye on the service time. Either way glad you enjoyed them 😊
@@mancunianinlondon Definately worth considering but what is the cost of the upgrade to extra leg room. Qantas wanted $150 😨 for a throne seat and a recent 2hr flight with Wizzair was $30... If you've got money to spare then great but if not they are all the same just extra leg room. So debatable.
Its also a question of prefference(not to be alone on the plane and have the feelings that there is someone else even u dont seem them in ur business suite only by take off and landing., or if someone doesnt waste too much of CO2😊)
Nice review! I flew United on my first USA Tour in 2018 on a day trip between LAX & SFO- ended up on two Airbus A320 as one of my flights (originally a Boeing 737-NG) was aircraft changed...
@@liftoffandtravel I got a stroopwaffel on the way out with drinks, the flight back was drinks only if I recall? the videos are on my 2018 US Tour playlist.
@@JettTyler17 a Stroopwaffel sounds pretty good. Odd that on the return it was only drinks. Was that a late flight? I know AA ditches meals if its considered a night time flight. Hard though for passengers to know where the cut of is though.
@@liftoffandtravel my mom only woke me up once everyone else finished enjoying the buffet 😂🤦🏽♀️. All I could eat before I got too tired was a bowl of cereal lol
@@mohammadsoyal7311 to be honest my passport doesn't require a transit visa. Have you checked your government's website for more information? Or the Turkish immigration website?
I don't know which country you are from but as I may not speak the local language I wouldn't like to guess. Just Google "do I need a transit visa for whichever passport" in your local language Beware of third part websites which might charge you more.
Great review. Been looking to try out Qatar First for a long time. With limited availability and timing for these flights down to 2 options but as both QR834 (Doha to Bangkok), your flight and QR900 (Doha to Perth) are both 2AM flights, by the looks of the menu's posted here they are quite limited in their offerings. The other option is QR 828 (DOH-BKK) during the day on the old Cathay 777. What would you do - go for the A380 to tick it off (Have done Emirates A380 and 777 Gamechanger, BA 787 and Singapore A380 Suites) so looking to eventually try them all.
There are so many factors to consider. The 787 is smaller so less time waiting to get of and collect your bags. You would be amazed how long it takes to unload the baggage from an A380! Personally I'd probably always pick an A380 but Q Suite is a joy. The First Class is wonderful but doesn't feel as private when it's busy. Either way you are bound to have an amazing service on Qatar 🇶🇦✈️
Thanks Alan, glad you enjoyed the video. We have a separate one for the other lounges including the one with the bath tub which is pretty incredible 🛀 Are you going to the lounges or you were just curious to have a look?
